Henry chuckled quietly, but there was no humor in that laugh.
"I was just trying to stop you from doing something you would've soon regretted."
He explained simply, shoving his hands into his pant's pockets. William couldn't understand what was going on. Why was henry being so calm? And why did Henry… intervene?
The woman looked taken aback, then turned to look at Willam again. She let out a loud scoff, and then looked back at Henry.
"But he… said… such things. He should be punished."
To this, Henry's eyes went back to Willam. The expression on his face remained unreadable, yet Willam felt a shiver running down his spine from being stared at that intently. The woman continued talking, her friends nodding and wispering at her words in agreement.*
"He insulted me. He should be humiliated."
Henry's hands clenched into fists, hidden in his pockets. For a moment, he didn't say anything, letting the woman's demands and words fill the empty space. Then… slowly, he sighed, his shoulders dropping a bit.
"Well… he's right." Henry said.
That was unexpected. Everyone's eyes widened, including William's. The woman looked confused, blinking a few times like she didn't understand. Then, she found her words again.
"H-he's what?" she said in disbelief. Everyone was silent now.
Henry raised an eyebrow, his tone nonchalant.
"You were acting like a brat, trying to humiliate someone you saw as beneath you. He merely said the truth." Henry said again.
And that was the last straw. The woman's friends gasped. The woman let out a sound of anger.
"I- How dare you! I am engaged! You have no right-" she yelled.
Henry racist the argue to rolled his eyes, his annoyance with the woman and her spoiled behavior starting to show on his face. He cut her off with a quiet scoff.
"Don't bring your engagement into this. You're the one who started the whole thing by saying you're above this man because of your social status."
He let out another sigh, as if the situation was draining whatever patience and goodwill remained in him.
The woman and everything around her fell in silence.. again. Everyone being to wispers among themselves. Willam was still there, standing, watching the Seen Infront of him, Willam didn't dare to say a word.
The young woman was quiet, her mouth opening and closing like she wanted to say something but couldn't find any words. As for Willam, his heart was beating rapidly in his chest. He felt like it was going to burst through his ribcage.
Henry spoke up, interrupting the awkward silence.
"Now, why don't you apologize to the both of us and leave." Henry said. Glearing at the woman.
The woman's eyes widened, looking at Henry with a look of disbelief. Her lips trembled, but she couldn't say anything. Her friends looked at her, like they couldn't believe that this was happening.
Henry took a step closer, his eyebrows furrowing. The tension increased in weight. Then, finally, the woman swallowed visibly, and spoke.
"F- ugh!… Fine. I… I'm sorry." she said. Of course she didn't ment it.
She forced the words out like they were venom, and then quickly turned around and stormed away. Her friends looked at Henry and him one last time before they all hurried after the young woman. Soon enough, the whole scene looked like it never happened. Willam was frozen in place, his heart still trying to find its regular pace. Then, he felt a hand on his shoulder, making him jump.
It was Henry. Willam looked up and their gazes met. Henry's face had softened, the annoyance and cold demeanor gone. But his eyes seemed… troubled.
"I'm sorry about that. She can be a bit of a brat, as you saw."
His voice was low, almost like a mumble, but then the corner of his lips lifted into a small smile. It was a friendly one, yet Willam's stomach still flipped. He swallowed, trying to find his voice.
Willam was still surprised, why whould someone high as henry whould help someone low as Willam?
"Oh.. um.. thanks I guess."
Henry chuckled quietly, his hand on Aiden's shoulder. The touch felt almost burning. Willam could feel his cheeks heating up from blushing. Then, Henry moved his hand, putting it back in his pocket.
"It was a pleasure."
He said simply, and the corner of his lips lifted into a small smile again. At that, Aiden's stomach seemed to go even crazier. He didn't think he ever blushed this hard before.
"He's cute..." Willam think to himself. Of course, Willam wouldn't dare to speek it out of loud.
