Suddenly, something pops up in front of Anima, a sign like in a video game. It's a warning.

Anima: The first trial has begun. Please tame the dragon.

The dragon swings its tail at Anima.

Anima jumps and dodges it, but the tailwind blows away all the trees in the forest.

The massive 100-foot pink dragon opens its mouth and starts charging something. Anima can see tiny black balls collecting to form something.
Anima: What am I meant to do here? How am I meant to defeat something this huge and powerful? This makes no sense! In what fucking world do I tame this massive ass dragon?!?!?
Before Anima can react, the beam forms and blasts straight at him. It completely destroys the entire island.
Anima swims up from the sea to see the dragon, soaking wet.
Anima: Huff, huff.
Anima is heavily breathing.
Anima: What the hell was that?
He survived by pure miracle. This dragon is no normal fire-breathing dragon, even Anima can tell that. But something seems off.
As Anima stares at the dragon, it launches another one of those black beams. Anima has no clue if he can luck out again to survive one of those death beams, but something seems off about them.
Anima: Why the hell is the dragon so angry? How am I meant to tame such a beast?
Anima realizes something.
Anima: Those beams aren't destroying anything. They're erasing the space, deleting space around the area. So, wherever the beam gets fired, the space there gets deleted. So why wasn't I deleted? Also, every time it roars, it's distorting the space of this entire dream world, so it's constantly shrinking. But I wasn't deleted while I was in the area the beam happened.
Anima: If I'm not being destroyed by this beam, does that mean...
Anima: Wait, can I die here? Isn't this place a projection of my soul? Yes, this is my dream. Can I die in my dream? And if I die here, do I fail the trial? Or can I even die here?

The pathway you get is based on your soul. A dragon had manifested in this world with a huge ocean, a small island, and Anima himself. The dragon represents the rage that Anima had when he saw his mother again. This area represented him, the inside of his soul. The dragon deleted part of the ocean and island, symbolizing Anima's rage engulfing him and consuming his soul. The rage he had engulfed him when he saw Mom, it's engulfing his soul. Anima had finally understood the meaning of the first trial. When the task "tame the dragon" had shown, Anima didn't understand. He didn't get it. Now he understands. He understands to "tame the dragon." He had to tame himself. He had to tame his rage. For now, a dreamwalker to walk, they need to have a clear mind.
