Chapter 23 - Chapter Twenty-Three (Izla's Work)

Another day dawned, bringing new hope to Izla. She appeared energetic—how could she not be? Today marked her first day working in the position she inherited to continue her father's journey. She dressed in her finest—a short brown skirt paired with a blouse in black and brown tones, topped with a heavy black coat. The weather was cold. She applied light makeup, grabbed her handbag, and headed to the kitchen. There, she found the maid had prepared her favorite cup of coffee. She sipped it eagerly, accompanied by a piece of bread with cheese and jam. Moments later, the doorbell rang. Daniel had arrived to pick her up for work.

They reached the company and parted ways, each heading to their respective offices and research. Although they were excited to see one another, their duties kept them apart—a reality they both wished were different. Before leaving, Daniel reassured her:

"I'll come by to get you after work. Don't worry, my love."

Izla responded warmly: "Who else do I have but you? I'll stay here until you arrive."

The work hours flew by for Izla as she immersed herself in research and experiments. She loved her job because her father had instilled this passion in her. She had often assisted him in his work, learning and mastering the field under his guidance as one of the most esteemed professors and scientists in his country.

After completing her tasks, Izla began tidying up to leave the company. She glanced at the clock; Daniel was running a bit late. Finally, she heard a knock at the door. She grabbed her bag and coat—the rain was pouring outside. Opening the door, she saw Daniel extending his hand toward her and saying:

"Would you accompany me for a cup of coffee somewhere, my love?"

She beamed with joy and replied: "I don't mind at all, my love, but please, let's not stay out too late. I don't want Auntie to worry."

He reassured her: "Of course, my love. Don't worry; I'll get you home safely."

Daniel and Izla chose a quiet café with a secluded corner, dim lighting, and soft music. They talked about everything—matters that mattered to them, their dreams, the first day they met, and the first time their hearts beat for one another. Their conversation ended with a long kiss that transported them to another world, where they shared all the affection and love they could.

As promised, Daniel dropped her off at home before heading back. The rain continued to fall as he said goodbye, expressing his wish that they could always stay together and never part.
