Chapter 17 - God of War

You have obtained a D-level weapon, the **Cloud Spirit Demon Cutter**.

**Name**: Cloud Spirit Demon Cutter D-Level (Unique Equipment)

**Quality**: Excellent (Blue)

**Passive Effect**: While attacking, it amplifies a portion of your physical attack power. Once equipped, it slightly reduces your stamina.

**Note**: Crafted from a rare spiritual ore, it bears a rugged appearance but boasts exceptional toughness and durability.

Upon seeing the weapon, Xu Que's heart leaped with joy. He had been desperately in need of a reliable weapon. Though it wasn't a C-level weapon, any weapon was better than fighting barehanded.

Quickly equipping the weapon, Xu Que turned his gaze toward the direction of the explosion.

Though the missile barrage had been successful in clearing out the area, it would not be enough to eliminate many of the higher-tier otherworldly creatures.

Surveying the surroundings with a quick glance, Xu Que closed his eyes to sense the situation around him. Apart from the southeast and east, where soldiers were stationed, the northwest side was unexpectedly clear.

In an instant, Xu Que received all the information he needed. Without hesitation, he stripped off his shirt, revealing his well-defined muscles.

*Rip!*

His clothes were swiftly torn to shreds, and after using part of the fabric to cover his head, he gripped the **Cloud Spirit Demon Cutter** and charged toward the monster horde.

The sound of gunfire filled the air as dozens of soldiers relentlessly fired at the advancing monsters.

During a brief moment of reloading, one soldier thought he saw something. However, before he could react, the figure, which appeared human, vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

"Look! What is that?" a soldier, wearing night-vision goggles, shouted, pointing far ahead.

But when others turned their attention in that direction, they saw nothing but a few monster corpses—no sign of the mysterious figure.

Just as the soldiers began to curse, a voice crackled through their earpieces.

"This is Sky Monitor 3, we've spotted an unidentified creature... no, wait, it's a human! He's slaughtering the otherworldly beasts in the rear!"

Instantly, every soldier fell silent. No one knew how to process what had just been reported.

"This is the Wild Wolf Ground Operations Command, this is Snow Wolf. Sky Monitor 3, what do you mean by that?" a commander asked through the radio.

Before the commander's words even finished, all the soldiers ceased firing, their eyes locked on the distant battlefield.

Through the flames, Xu Que, shirtless, wielded a long blade, moving swiftly through the crowd of Demon Toads. Each time he approached a toad, a flash of blade light would appear. When there were too many to deal with, he resorted to using sword-style slashes to clear the masses.

"Flying sword? Is this a fantasy world?" one soldier muttered in disbelief.

His words went unheard, as all the soldiers, including his comrades, were too captivated by the sight of Xu Que, the battle god, cutting down the creatures in a whirlwind of fire.

Unbeknownst to Xu Que, his actions were now being dubbed "the work of a war god" by the soldiers witnessing the carnage.

"I'm Snow Wolf. Sky Monitor units, save the footage. We need to identify this person immediately!" the commander ordered.

"Sky Monitor 1, received."

"Sky Monitor 2, received."

"Sky Monitor 3, received."

In an instant, three drones locked onto Xu Que's movements and began transmitting the footage to the Magic Capital Operations Command Center.

When the data reached the command center, all the soldiers watching the footage were struck with astonishment.

"Who is this person?" an old officer asked.

"We don't know. This footage was transmitted from the battlefield. We are still investigating," the data officer responded.

At this, everyone present understood the significance of the situation.

Meanwhile, Shen Tianhe, deep in thought, recalled a person, but he quickly dismissed the notion. While he believed Xu Que had potential in uncovering the mystery of the creatures, he couldn't fathom how a man involved in finance could appear like a war god on the battlefield.

At the same time, the number of otherworldly creatures emerging from the spatial rifts in the Western District gradually began to dwindle.

Xu Que didn't immediately enter the rift. Not only was it a terrifying otherworldly dimension, but there were too many people present. With three drones observing him, any untimely action could lead to unwanted attention and reveal his presence prematurely.

After dispatching the last C-level Demon Toad, Xu Que, standing atop the Cloud Spirit Demon Cutter, hovered in mid-air. Without leaving a word, he vanished from sight as though executing a command.

"Was that person flying on a blade?"

"I think he's a cultivator!"

"Do you think he could be one of the top two on the Celestial Rankings?"

At this, every soldier turned to look at the soldier who had voiced the question.

Before anyone could respond, the voice of Sky Monitor 2 crackled in their earpieces.

"That person moved too quickly, and with the cover of night, we quickly lost sight of him."

"Understood. Continue with the sweep. Report anything unusual immediately," Snow Wolf commanded through the radio.

At the operations command center, the image of Xu Que was sent over. When the soldiers saw the clear footage, many were disappointed.

They had hoped to see the war god's face, but all they could make out were his eyes—the rest of his features remained hidden.

"What do you make of this?" Old Zhao asked, holding a cup of hot water.

"The information is too sparse. However, based on the data provided by Old Shen, we must report the Breath Cultivation method immediately and spread it as quickly as possible. As for those ancient martial families and Taoist sects, I suggest we send people to Beijing to investigate in person," said Ye Lao, the head of the military district.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Those present knew all too well what Blue Star was facing. If the data was accurate, the Breath Cultivation method was their only option for survival.

Meanwhile, Xu Que returned to the villa and headed straight for the room where Liu Boda and Xie Xiaoyun were being held. Upon confirming they were still unconscious, he felt a sense of relief. After all, if the otherworldly creatures had gotten to them, his plans for revenge would lose all meaning.

As he returned to the sofa, his phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, Xu Que smiled mischievously.

He answered the call, and Liu Ruyan's angry voice immediately came through.

"Xu Que, you useless piece of trash! Why aren't you answering my calls?"

"Do you even realize there was an otherworldly invasion in your area?"

"What happened to my parents and little brother?"

Listening to Liu Ruyan's barrage of questions, none of which were concerned with his well-being, Xu Que chuckled. "Don't worry. The area where you were is still far from here. We've already relocated. I'll send you the new address, and you better come over on time tomorrow."

Relieved, Liu Ruyan finally relaxed, but then she snapped, "Listen here, Xu Que! You better take good care of my father. His heart condition is bad, and if anything happens to him, you'd better be ready to pay with your life!"

Xu Que glanced at the suitcase by the door and smiled even wider.

"Don't worry. Your dad's in great shape. You'll see when you get here tomorrow." With that, he hung up.

As the phone beeped with the disconnect, Liu Ruyan, fuming, slammed her hand against the wall—yet again, Xu Que had hung up on her.

At around one in the morning, the Wild Wolf Brigade began sweeping the remaining otherworldly creatures from the east. What they didn't know was that, as they cleared the area, a man carrying three suitcases had just left a villa not far from their location.

Xu Que, dragging the three suitcases, glanced back at the distant Jinjiang Garden before striding forward toward his next destination.

**Xicheng District, Yunhe Mountain Villa**.

This was the only place Xu Que could think of. Though some people hadn't left yet, it didn't matter to him. Tomorrow marked the beginning of his torment of Liu Ruyan.

After a hot shower, he sent the new address to Liu Ruyan and collapsed into bed, quickly falling into a deep sleep.
