Christine, answer me; I am freaking out also. Where are mom and dad? Christine doesn't answer, simply humming and looking outside. I've had enough of this, said Layla as she grabs Christine's shoulders to turn her around and get a proper view of her face; she doesn't turn. Then Christine turns around and tilts her head downward, revealing a face that looked lifeless; her eyes were all bloodshot from crying, and dried-up tear streaks were on her face; her eyes were open; given a "I've lost it mentally" kind of look. She then said in an emotionless voice, "I'm listening; you're not talking." Christine then stands up and leaves the room; she walks past Layla and Alex.
Layla looks at Alex with a perplexed look. Layla starts to sweat; she then follows Christine to ask her some questions, leaving Alex alone in the room. He decides not to follow as he doesn't want to get muddled up in their sister relationship stuff.
Christine was sitting in her croutched-up position from before and was writing something in a book. Layla sits opposite Christine; she takes a deep breath and then asks a question "Christine, you got an idea where Mum is," she tried to say as casually as she could. "Oh yes, I know, she went to the outskirts of the city to get dad." Christine said that like nothing happened. Layla tried to keep her cool; she then asks, "How come you are home without dad?" Christine replies, "Well, that's 'cause dad said I should go home while he had an errand to run. " You see, we didn't go to school. I went for some sort of exhibition, taking dad with me as my guardian continued Christine. Can you please continue, said Layla? 'Alright,' replied Christine. When I came home, I just sat around like normal, and then some hours later the stuff about The Vanishing was announced on the TV. Mum then went to look for dad and said I should stay home and you'd probably come along. See, she left you a note; it's on the kitchen counter, pointed Christine as she continued writing in her book.
Layla, unable to process what Christine had just said, just stood up to check the note that was left for her by her mum. She read the contents and dropped the note on the ground. She walks towards Christine and says, "I know you're probably scared." Layla tries to hug Christine. Christine pushes Layla away and screams, "Don't touch, leave me alone."
Christine once again walks out again on Layla and goes back to her room. She shuts the door and lies on the bed. Alex was resting on the couch in the room, directly facing Christine's bed.
Layla sees that Christine left; she stands up, goes to pick up the note her mum left her, and falls backwards on the couch.
Meanwhile, in Christine's room, a conversation is sprouting up between Alex and Christine.
