Alex continues, "We would need food supplies, maps and navigation systems or devices, effective communication devices, and the means of transportation to get to our safe spot.". You understand right, now any questions. Layla raises her hand. "Proceed," Alex said in that same voice as before but less commanding, and now it's more welcoming. Layla blushes as she finds this a bit strange; Christine actually shrugs. Layla continues, Where would our safe spot be? Yeah, good question, where she asks with curiosity in her eyes.
"Excuse for a moment," said Alex as he goes to a side of the room, using it as a private corner. He comes back almost immediately, startling Christine. She wondered how fast he took Alex to make decisions.
Our safe spot will be in Antarctica; I have a research team set up there. Oh, said Christine, you're so lucky to have your own research team. I've always wanted to live at a research team base and walk as a scientist. Christine blabs with excitement. Snap out of it, Christine said, Layla trying to shake Christine. Alright, let's continue Christine said as she ignored her whole excitement outburst.
So now all that is left is to gather supplies and head to the safe spot, asked Christine. Yes, that is true, answered Alex. For now, I think we should have a good night's rest and continue this tomorrow; "you'll need the energy," he said with a smirk on his face. Layla sees it and gets scared She then asks, "are you going to work us to the bone or make us do intense workouts?" She starts to bawl like a baby. Christine sighs and comes towards Layla. Layla gets excited seeing Christine coming to her aid. Christine whispers into Layla's ear, "Of course you will work," she said in a cold, emotionless voice using a mocking tone. Layla looks up at Christine in horror and sees her eyes; they looked so hallow, sort of empty. Layla sees a smirk forming on Christine's face. "Eeeeee," she shrugs in fear.
She quickly stood up and ran to Alex. She thought in her head,When did she get to mimic a character from one of her books so well?". 'Did you just see what Christine did?'. Yeah, Alex nods in response. "Um," said Layla in a confused voice. "Am I to do something about that?" thought Layla. Alex interrupts Layla before she could get lost in her thoughts, "What will I have for dinner?"
Layla realises that Alex has not eaten anything and even herself too. Well, let's look into the fridge, said Layla, and she shakes. Layla does know how to cook (she doesn't know many dishes), but she is afraid she might cook something inedible for Alex. She opens the fridge with her eyes, and she forgets about being nervous. "Oh, see cake," said Layla.
