The cafeteria started to get rowdy and more noisy, with people running towards the door to get out of the building. A man fell and was trampled on, or others pushed and continuously shoved from side to side.
Alex made a quick phone call and assured Layla that everything was alright. Layls said, "Al, do you know how much space the vanishing has covered?" Alex replied, I don't know, but areas like the city's outskirts have been covered, so the only way to escape this is to travel north or south of the city. I think we should travel south, suggested Layla. Let's talk about this later; we don't have much time. The city will soon be into a black-and-white wasteland. "Alex, what of your dad?" asked Layla. He has probably been disintegrated because he was around the area where the cloud spread. My parents! Exclaimed Layla Alex patted Layla again Your dad and little sister are probably gone, and it's too much risk to go back and get them. No, at least let's visit the house.
Layla started to panic. She did not know what to do. She wanted to ask Alex where he was getting his info from. She wanted to go and see her family, and the people in the cafeteria hadn't fully gone out. It would be a death sentence to just try and run through as you could get stamped on. Layla decided to look for Ed. She scanned the area; what she saw stunned her. She stammered, tapping Alex and pointing at Ed. "Eeeeeedd." Ed's body was on the ground covered with bruises, her clothes smeared with blood, and the floor around Ed. It was then she noticed it was not only Ed; many people had been seriously injured during the stampede. Layla could not even identify if they were dead or not. She screamed in disbelief; she could not go and check Ed's pulse as the stampede was still ongoing, and if she bent down, she could be trampled on.
Layla felt a sudden burst of energy. She dashed towards the door. Alex shouted, "Stop Layla!" He then ran after her too. Alex pushed his way through the crowd and called Layla's name multiple times. A figure who looked like Layla tripped and fell.
Immediately Alex shouted again Layla was now out of shock and anxiety; he was worried.
