On his way out of town Berry encountered a man begging to a guard. " You have to send someone to help. My village will be destroyed if you don't." The guard turned his head "take your quest to the guild that's what they are there for." Down on his knees he continued "We don't have any money to pay them. They won't help us." Berry was going to ignore them but just couldn't help himself "Sorry to interrupted but maybe I could help." The man explained his village was a few days walk away and was under attack. They were doing there best but would run out of supplies soon. "Will we make it in time?" Berry asked worried they would arrive to late. "I brought two horses with me. I was going to sell them if I needed to. If we leave now we should be able to get there by night fall." The two of them rode hard pushing the horses harder than would normally be possible. However with his spell replenishing them they ran tirelessly. They reached the village just before night fall. The bell at the center of town began to toll as everyone made there way to the large building with the bell on it. The building was bored up tightly and had scrach marks all over it. Berry prepared himself as they closed themselves in. It looked like they had been doing this nightly leaving only one thing "monsters." Berry said as a howl from the edge of town broke the silence. The man hadn't given him much information about what was going on and in their haste he hadn't asked. As the rest of the sun faded he summoned his light orb to float a few feet above him, he caught his first glimpse. They were spiders lots of giant spiders half the size of a man. "Damn it" he said calling forth his other orbs. Luckily his purifying light orb would remove any venom from his body otherwise one bite could be deadly. Berry had gained another new skill during his previous battle from all the rapin quick steps he had used he unlocked heightened perception. Well using his fast moving skill his sense of time was altered slowing down everyones movements. It was a little disorienting the first time he tried it out. Luckily he had gotten lots of practice sparring with Jenna, even if he never did win against her. As the hord of spiders decended apon him he sprung into action. He zipped forward slicing through four spiders that appeared to be moving in slow motion. Each time his foot hit the ground he activated his skill again sending him flying at incredible speeds in different directions. As he cut his way back and forth and using his shield as a battering ram.
A boy set high up in the bell tower looking out a boarded up window. There was just enough room for him to see out of. He watched this adventure standing fearlessly under a light that came out of nowhere. Then a sword and shield just appeared into his hands. He watched as the monsters approached, then more lights of different colors began circling the man. When he described what he had witnessed later people didn't believe him. He said the man turned into a streak of lights and the spiders that touched the lights were vaporized into ash. He wasn't able to see each swing of the sword that split them in half, or be crushed by the force of his shield moving at high speeds. To the boy it was just pretty lights flinging back and forth well the monsters disappeared.
Berry had spent the whole night fighting with the endless hord but as the sun rose they retreated. He hadn't killed all of them and wasn't sure how many more there were. The thing he was sure of was they would be back if he didn't stop them. So he tracked them back to their layer. It was an abandoned mine not too far from the town. Thick webs lined the entrance "Damn I wish I knew a fire spell" he said making a torch. He made his way deeper in burning his way through the webs. Finally he came to a large opening and saw the spider mother. This was the first such creature he had ever heard of with the body of a spider and the uper torso of a woman. She spoke to him asking why he killed her children. When he didn't answer her she shot a spray of venom at him. He easily blocked it with his shield and severed three of its legs with one dash. Before she could react his blade burst trough her chest. She crumbled to ash just as quickly as her spawn had.
Berry returned to the village to deliver the good news. He was tired, not physically but he was ready for a nap. Some of the townspeople had gathered all the loot for him including going back to the mine. It came out to two large bags full of cores and a hefty amount of gold. He stayed at the inn for a few day to rest up and make sure the town was actually safe. It was nice to sleep in a bed that wasn't constantly rocking back and forth. He wasn't going to miss sailing any time soon. When he was satisfied that the town was spider free he set out on the road again. The man had given him the horse as a gift. The horse was a light brown with a long white tail. It's hair had been cut by some kids having fun giving it a silly looking white mohawk. He stowed his loot in the saddle bags to either side and rode off into the morning sun. He didn't know it but eventually the town would have a statue built of him plunging his sword through a spider.
