It wasn't long and the chimera treader found them. Three structures were floating above the ground by 2 meters each.
The vibration coming from them was firm and strong; the building also had no doors or windows as they moved around. And all other buildings avoid them.
They were powerful; whatever was inside was extremely dangerous. If the Chimera Treader were honest with the instinct of the lion, they would lose to whatever was inside.
The chimera shifted its attention elsewhere, from what Eugene had sent to them; in the Battle Birth Ground, there was a powerful monster guarding the newborn. This place might also have that and the Treader wanted to find out if that was the case.
It looked, observed and listened but nothing suggested that there was a more powerful monster apart from those four structures.
It was getting impatient; it needed to prove itself; it shook away all wariness and then stood and chose its target.
The Chimera Treader waved its long tail, and the long black hair swept outside its hiding place, they caressed the ground before it jumped down into the street and looked around.
It jumped right at a place that wasn't a direct sight of the newborns; it then jumped fast and swiftly toward its target.
The black hair tail was sweeping the rough uneven ground continuously as it moved. Soon, it reached a crowded location before it jumped and hid from many who were about to look its way.
Behind the beast was a watcher, a newborn that observed the nook and cranny location that the Chimera Treader jumped from and it saw something.
Not to mention, the delectable scent of a fresh red juice it was smelling.
In a tongue that humans can't understand, another watcher came and stood behind it.
"Another red juice has come!"
"Yes, but this one is elusive and fast. It makes no sound!" The one that saw the treader answered, its mouth was watering already.
"Hmm. What does it look like?" The new one asked as they ran around looking for their prey.
"It looks like strands of black hair, shifting and moving. But I know it has red juice in it, so it wasn't one of those nasty things!"
"I believe the scent is just too good to not be red juice!"
In their term, Red Juice means a beast or monster that came from outside carrying red blood in them.
To their nose and even eyes, as they have names, the Red Juice was a special food delivered to them by the realm, but they have to be powerful to take them for themselves.
The taste of the red juice was not mostly related to the tier of the beast but to the potential and talent of the beast.
Lion and Silent Treader have incredible talent. As such, their scent and taste will be one of the best there is.
The two were moving around, but behind them, by some distance, the Chimera Treader was observing them. They were good but not as good as the other delicacies.
The Treader jumped down and took another route, but wherever it passed, as long as there was a newborn, they would turn around looking for the location of the scents. Some get a glimpse, and many don't.
But after hours the newborns stopped looking and went back to their work.
The long black tail tip has the function of carrying the scent and moving around the treader to hide itself. The nature of its body now was in a concealed manner that peripheral vision couldn't capture it easily, and if it did, their attention would be pulled toward the tail hair.
Yes, the tail hair is the distraction; it emitted the thick scent of the treader and also the sound of movement. But the moment they noticed it, the hair would flash away.
This way, the treader kept the sight far away to a certain degree from its main body. Unless one of the newborns has exceptional eyesight that can capture a large area with startling clarity, they won't be able to directly pinpoint the original.
The Silent Treader moved around the metropolis in order to spread its scent to everyone, not to attract their attention but to make them not focus on it.
Naturally, it grasped they could scent its body, but there were also a lot of dead beasts and monsters in the metropolis. Even the Chimera Treader can smell them.
Some were still alive, trapped inside some of the structures, their blood being harvested slowly without killing them.
It has also observed that some powerful newborns will come in large cages that have beasts inside, and they hide away from the other newborns until they reach their structure and hide inside.
What the treader was doing was just making sure they had an idea that someone among them came with a new beast and hid it.
That was one reason; another reason was that there were other beasts in the metropolis, hiding, trying to snatch some weapons from the shops, and some might be trying to save their loved ones.
If Eugene had seen this, he would know that the place doesn't have defences because it was designed that way; all the beasts should be able to come here, and then the newborn would gang on them and eat them.
If there was a defense then not all beasts would like to come. Not to mention, the newborn can scent anything that wasn't part of them.
Even now, as the place was reeking with beasts, they can still differentiate them all; a new beast surely can be found.
The Chimera Treader has a vague understanding of all this but it doesn't care. It can play the game and achieve things.
After spreading its scent in different corners, it then masked itself completely and reached its destination where its scent hadn't reached. It jumped into a window and ran and hid.
It needed to calm down before it began what it came here for. But then it felt a vibration, the window it came through closed and all big windows also closed.
One thing was certain: it had been found out. How it was, doesn't matter because this place was strong but not that strong.
A newborn with the name Bororobo was grinning; its pulsing red vein and wide nostrils captured the new red juice that came into its home by snipping the air.
It brought its helmet and wore it while carrying a polearm and walked deeper inside the house.
One thing that Red Juice doesn't know was that the structure building primary function was to trap. Anything foreign that touched the building, the owner will be alerted, no matter the camouflage or silence of the beast or monster.
Bororobo can feel that the red juice was two in number, each standing at a distance from themselves.
This was great; it would wash the building with the juice of one and preserve the flesh, while it would drink the juice of another and preserve its flesh.
It slurped as it imagined crunching on the biscuit bones of this tantalizing delicacy.
What it didn't know was what it felt was from the beast and its tail.
The tail was trying to show it was an actual beast while the main body was trying to be as silent as it could, but the function of the house was beyond their capabilities, and Thu, the owner, felt that the one was two.
Bororobo went toward the one that was trying to hide so it didn't find a way to run away.
It soon reached the place but the beast was not there. The red juice had moved, and the newborn followed it with a slight jog around the house, but then it noticed that the potion of the building had been bitten off, and also, some of the displayed weapons were all missing.
Immediately, it used its connection to those things and managed to predict the beast movement and ran to a corner at a junction, waiting for the red juice to come.
Immediately, the red juice appeared and Bororobo swung his polearm fast and struck toward the head of the beast.
The chimaera bent and tried to avoid it, but as if the polearm had a magnet, it changed cause and struck its face. Biting through the hair and skin, drawing blood.
"Ooo, slurp. Aha!" His body trembled with excitement and it attacked again.
Newborns without a name have to kill their first red juice and consume them whole. Once they do that, they will gain a name and their power and mastery will double and triple depending on the quality of the red juice.
From then, the named newborn will have to hunt down many red juices and consume them to grow and acquire a second name.
They will then reach a point where they just don't want any red juice but a high-quality one or with certain characteristics.
This was why they came to the metropolis and established their home at a junction. They will hone their skill, improve their talents and then hunt the type of quality they need or trade with.
The metropolis was a large trap; they knew red juice hunts them too, and they wouldn't resist coming here where the newborn congregated.
