Chapter 44 - Orientation Pt.1

For the first time since he met Est, he didn't feel like she was trying to get one up on him or use him for their gain. He didn't feel any danger, he didn't feel a need to end her. 

He felt weirdly happy. 

A numbing, tingling sensation in his hand stopped him from raising his hand, but he still returned his own smile as he said, "Hey Amyla, Kai's still here." 

She nodded–this time with a bigger smile– before turning her attention ahead.

Kai's gaze followed and he saw Faye, Etyrion, and a man who he assumed was another headmaster walk onto the podium.

Kai couldn't make out much of the man besides a dark blob now that he stood still, but when he was moving Kai felt that he looked rather sharp. As in, a sharp nose, striking eyes that seemed to peer beyond everything, and just an overall sharp demeanor that was hard to describe. He wore a dark, tight fitting robe over his uniform that had a wool hood.
