Before Ethan could see the phone screen which was on, Ava quickly grabbed it and pressed it shut.
"Oh God, no! Please... Let him not have seen what was on the screen." Ava sucked in a breath.
Her heart was pounding heavily as she silently prayed.
Ethan's expression turned really cold, his jaw clenched in anger and Ava couldn't help but shiver under his penetrating gaze.
"Didn't I warn you about phones when you are in my presence?" He asked her, his voice dangerously low.
"Oh, okay! I just dodged a bullet there... Thank you God!" Ava swallowed hard, relief washing over her when she realized he hadn't seen the screen's contents.
"I..." Ava started, but her voice trembled.
"I asked you a question, Ms. Collins." Ethan snapped, his tone became even colder.
"I... I'm so sorry, sir. Please forgive me. The message was from my sister about my mother. She is in the hospital..." Ava quickly lied.
