"Why don't you mingle with the guests? I need to talk to Dad for a minute." Lucas ushered her into the middle of the crowd before leaving her with a group of people.
She knew most of them as relatives, friends, and business associates of the Preston family, who made it to the invitation list for the Christmas Eve event.
Her eyes could not help but admire the glamorous decorations that adored the Preston's home. She could see that Mrs. Liza Preston did not spare any expense to make the party one of the most extravagant festivities of the year.
"How is married life, my dear?" She remembered the woman as a distant aunt of her husband. She met her at their wedding but had forgotten her name.
