This World wasn't always like this. About 1000 years ago, a great calamity occurred called "The Third Falling". After each falling, a new plague felled the world, but this one was different. This one made it that people are able to have supernatural powers that weren't possible before.
"Hey Kento, what's your power?" you ask. "It's called message. It's basically allows me send or receive thoughts to and from anyone." Kento answers. "Cool. I guess it's pretty quiet at home when you don't really need to talk to says something." You say jokingly. Now that you take a closer look at Kento, he has this look to him, he is a short guy who has small body structure. He also has this feminine look to him, like he is intentionally making himself look like more of a girl than a guy and it's kind of weird and making you uncomfortable so you ask "Yo Kento, are you a femboy?" He answers "What's a femboy?" You reply "A guy who try to look like a girl." Kento then gives this down look when you mention that and looks very reluctant to reply back. Then he say "Can I not answer your question?" You reply "Sure. Just forget I ever asked, okay."
You try to change the conversation as you both now feel really comfortable. You ask Kento about his hobbies. He tells you that he doesn't have that many hobbies that he does. He mostly either practices his power and studies or just spends time with his dad. For a few moments after he finishes talking, you both again sit in awkward silence. Feeling the awkward atmosphere, you ask him if he plays any video games. He says that he doesn't play video games that much. He just plays every so and so. Again, you both sit in awkward silence while walking to Grandviville. You just have had enough of it and just bluntly ask Kento "Hey, do you mind if we just sit in silence and not need to make conversation to make all of this not awkward?" He is for some reason not surprised by your bluntness, and doesn't disagree with your request. After a while of walking in silence, the both of you don't feel so awkward anymore. Actually, you are enjoying eachothers company more now.
When you both finally reach the school and you finally lay eyes on Grandviville, it's even more grand than the photos you have seen of it with how huge it is and it just looks and feels so prestigious in a way you can't describe. You both then see a small swarm of people and guess that they are all heading to sign up for the exam like you two. The exam starts in 6 hours yet there is a good amount of people here already. You spot the sign up stations and there are so many of them that it seems like there are 500 of them. Still, you aren't that surprised with the millions of people that come each year, and this is just one of the many exam hall areas in all of Grandviville as Grandviville is 5 km long. Plus, this is just the sign ups for the first group out of 6 groups that will take the exam. One at dawn, which is now for you. Second is at noon. Third is around 3 pm. Fourth is at sunset. Fifth is at night. Sixth is right before 12. Most people participate on the third group.
You and Kento walk up to one of the stations and you ask politely "Hello, can me and my friend here sign up." The guy tells you that of course you can and asks you to wait a moment as the system is just having a quick load test. Behind you Kento is surprised that you called him your friend, but he quickly brushes it off. The guy at the sign up station then asks for you to write on a piece of paper that he handed you your name and your regional district ID and your global ID and the name of your power(s) and a small summary of what it does and a small photo of yourself. You finish filling up all your information and give the guy a small picture of you. You then tell Kento it's his turn and he does the same things. Kento asks how detailed should the summary be about his power. The guy at the station tells him that he could be as vague as he wants as the practical test machine would do most of the work, they just need the summary to tell the machine what it needs to look out for. After Kento finishes the guy tells you two that in 1 hour a big screen will be put at this hall entrance that will be a 5 hour count down to the exam and that the exam will start with the first bunch after the 5 hours finish directly and that you two are of the first group out of the 6 groups. He also mentioned that the exam consists of 2 phases. First is an IQ exam with a general knowledge exam with it. After that a practical exam to test your ability in using your powers. He then wished you two good luck. You also wish him good luck with what he will have to go through before the exam starts with all the people that will soon come to the sign up stations. In an exhausted voice from remembering what is soon to come he thanks you.
After that you tell Kento that you will go back to the motel to just chill around before the exam and he looks at you a bit confused and says "You are not gonna practice before the exam or even study for a bit?" You answer "Nope. I mostly came here for 2 reasons, first is to try and enter Grandviville, but if I couldn't, then the second is to gadge my abilities with the best test in the world. Like where else can you test not only your IQ and general knowledge and your practical use of your powers for free. Plus, I am confident in my abilities and I am sure I will hopefully pass and even enter the A class too" Kento then considers your thought process and says "So is that what you are really gonna do? At least we can practice together for a bit now that we are friends and all, but it's fine if you don't want to." He says the last part a bit nervously and quickly with a noticeable amount of hesitation. You remember how you said to the guy at the sign up station how you called Kento your friend. Honestly, you only did that to not sound awkward. Like imagine if you just said 'Hello, me and this stranger I just met want to sign up together because I didn't want to be rude to him and leave him.' You don't consider Kento as an actual friend, you just stayed to be nice. He just looks like a person that is a twink from how he presents himself, and above all else, he is from district 1, one of the most scummiest people, right after the 11 families. Still, you didn't want to be rude to him, so you make up an excuse to leave.
You say "You know what, I was gonna come here 1 hour before the exam anyway, so let's study and practice then." Your reply makes Kento's face light completely. From his reaction, you feel horrible because of what you are actually planning to do. Kento then asks to take your number, 'So that we can both find each other before the exam from how compact it will be, if you don't mind' he says. It hits you like a lightning bolt how you forgot all about that and realize that now you either tell him the truth, or you don't. You chicken out and give him your number and take his number. You both say your goodbyes.
