Rudolf and I set out to make the drop. I was kind of excited because this was my first drop but I didn't like the vibe I was getting from my partner. He was jittery, constantly checking his watch as if the seconds themselves might betray him.
"Something on your mind?" I asked,
He glanced at me briefly, his expression unreadable. "Just on edge. It's nothing. We'll be in and out."
I nodded.
I didn't buy it. I'd spent enough time around men like Rudolf to recognize when they were hiding something, but I held my tongue. Pushing him wouldn't get me anywhere, not yet. If something was bothering him, let's hope it didn't affect the mission.
When we arrived at the warehouse, I scanned the area carefully. The place looked completely deserted. The building was large and it towered over the other bungalows. A single light flickered near the entrance, giving it a vibe straight out of a bad crime movie.
