I have to wonder what's bothering them. Before, I thought they didn't like me, but they made me their king to get me to come back. I doubt they are happy that an outsider of a different race took their crown. It could be something like that, but I can't be sure.
"May I ask your majesty," said one of the elf guards. "Where is Queen Sera?"
"She was in the amazon village, last I saw." I said. "She should be back in a day or two."
"I understand." she said. "Thank you, your majesty."
"Show me to the palace." I said, thinking it's probably better to make commands than to make polite requests, as king. "Then bring me something to eat."
"Of course, your majesty," said one of the guards. "Do you have any requests?"
"Whatever the chef recommends." I responded. I wouldn't even know what to ask for.
Walking through the elf village, I feel less unwelcome, but this time it's more embarrassing. The elves are all staring. After I eat, I'll see about getting some clothes as soon as possible.
Our escorts brought us to the palace to find more gawking guards.
"All hail the king!" said one of our escorts. Again they snapped out of their confusion and knelt.
Then, they opened the doors and we went in with one of the escorts. After they closed the doors, I heard some frantic words being exchanged outside. It was about the same with the guards to the throne room.
The fairies decided to explore the palace, and our escort seemed rather dismayed about it, but she held her tongue. The fairies ran off to look around, and I took a seat on the throne.
I was a little worried my escort would object to me sitting here, but I can't be asking my subjects for permission to do things.
"What's your name?" I asked the escort.
"My name is Rachel, your majesty." she said.
"I'm pleased to meet you, Rachel." I said, trying to sound kingly or whatever. "What's on your mind?"
Rachel has been looking like she wants to ask me something for a while.
"May I ask your majesty," she said. "What are all of the fairies doing here?"
"Oh right, that must be a strange thing to see. They are here because they wanted to come with me."
Rachel looks even more confused now.
"I should mention that I am also the king of the fairies and the amazons." I continued. "I am the king of the entire sacred forest."
Now, Rachel looks positively baffled, and apparently lost for words. I get it, it is a very sudden paradigm shift. It hasn't really sunk in for me either.
"I understand your disbelief, but it is true." I continued. "I'm sure Sera will reassure all of you when she arrives."
"I understand," said Rachel. "Thank you, your majesty."
I think they are probably wondering if something happened to Sera, and I imagine they are unsure if I got the elf king's crown legitimately. For now, it seems that they are treating me as their king until and unless Sera says otherwise.
Besides, I came with all of the fairies. I doubt they are willing to question my legitimacy in front of all of the fairies. It's probably pretty strange to see all of them in one place outside of their home.
