"Hey Emily, Enna. Good to see you."
"I have tons of questions, but first I want to know how you got the fairies to like you so much. I want them to like me too, but fairies hate amazons." said Emily.
"It seems to me that fairies value fun more than anything. So I'd say, most importantly, don't interfere with their fun. Try to be good playmates."
"Can you give us any more specific advice?" asked Enna.
I might regret telling them this, but I do have a couple ideas to help them get their foot in the door.
"Okay, when the fairies get back with food, you could suggest that they hand feed it to me directly, I imagine they'll appreciate that suggestion. We're playing 'house' right now, which is where we pretend we're a human family. They have all decided to play the role of wife. If you have the opportunity to join the game, I suggest you pretend to be their children."
Emily and Enna listened, intently.
"How will we know if it's okay to join the game?" asked Emily.
That's a good question.
"That can be tricky since you are starting on bad terms. So, err on the side of caution. If they address you without breaking character, then it's probably safe to join."
Then, the fairies filed into the room, each carrying plates, saying things like "I hope you're hungry" and "I'm back". They set their plates on the table in front of me. I see a variety of what looks like strange fruit, some of it cut in bite-size pieces. I can't identify any of it. I hope it isn't poisonous, maybe that's the horror story twist.
"You could hand feed it to him directly," said Emily.
The fairies still didn't acknowledge the amazons, but they seemed to like the idea. Rose went first, saying "eat up" and holding a piece of fruit to my mouth. I opened wide, and Rose held the piece against my tongue, but she didn't withdraw her fingers. Looking me in the eye, she closed just her lips, keeping her teeth apart. I did the same, and then she slowly pulled out her fingers.
"Kiss him on the cheek too," said Enna.
Rose kissed me on the cheek. Emily and Enna were staring, intently, and fidgeting. I think I hear heavy breathing too. The rest of the fairies took turns doing pretty much the same thing, and it went on for a pretty long time. I responded with thanks and cheek kisses of my own. Each of the fruits were pleasant, but too sweet for my taste. I feel like my teeth will rot, and I need protein.
It must be getting close to midday, by now. If I stay any longer, I'll end up staying the night. My quest for clothing feels even more urgent after all this. Plus, I can't live here indefinitely if all they have is fruit. I'm going to try escape plan A.
"I'd love to stay longer, but there are some things I need to do." I said, bracing myself for their reaction.
