F*ck you. Anyway, I got home and I'm currently sitting on my bed after taking a shower, excited to check out what I gained from Thanatos. But before that, time for history lesson kids.
A few thousand years back, the thought of gaining super powers for any human was nothing but a fantasy, a delusion some might say. Until one day, gods which humans always believed were beings of fantasy and myths, started granting blessing to humans who had immense faith in them..
The first chosen was blessed by the Greek God Zeus, she was given the power to control lightning and the weather as a whole. Humans never understood (or they didn't care) how or why the gods started granting them blessings. After the incident of the first chosen, more and more people started getting blessed with superhuman abilities.
With more people gaining abilities, the world started shifting to match. Portals appeared out of nowhere and from them creatures of myth walk through.
The big brains called these portals dungeons, which if not cleared within a certain amount of time would lead to a 'dungeon break'. A phenomenon in which the monsters exit the portal unto our world and that's why we have heroes.
Today, a few thousand years later, every human was a blessed.... Well every human that was not me. But today changes all that, today I'll feel what it's like to have superpowers or find out that I was just dreaming of it all.
"Status" I called out.You see, the gods granted humans blessings alongside an rpg-like status screen which helps them track their progress.

An interface popped up in front of my eyes which caused me to almost scream in joy. I wasn't dreaming, I'm finally not a dud anymore, I'm finally not useless anymore.
Tears rolled down my cheeks, which I quickly wiped off.

I was really happy, trust me I was....but what the hell is up with all these question marks.
"Umm, system? What do I have so many question marks on my interface and what the hell are my abilities?" I asked, waiting for a response.
[Summoning system assistant]
As soon as I read the words, my room exploded in a bright light which I'm sure my neighbors would have seen but won't care.
[Assistant summoned]
"Yo" Blinking my eyes a couple of times to adjust, I heard a voice which I'm pretty sure I know.
Opening my eyes I saw what I could only describe as a chibi version (only smaller) of the god Thanatos.
"What the hell? Aren't you supposed to be dead, erased or something? How the hell are you here?" I asked, well more like shouted.
This dude was blabbing about not having enough time and how he's about to disappear, just to flash bang me in the face and pop right back up.
"Relax,I am dead. This is just an assistant to help you with your powers, because I didn't want to leave you confused. Now, any questions?" He replied allowing me to calm down and think.
"A couple actually. First, who killed Thanatos?" I asked, not holding much hope of getting an answer.

Dammit, I knew the author would try to hide this from me just for the 'plot'. Screw you author.. {I love you too}
"Don't worry about that. As you are now, you wouldn't be able to do anything against that being." Chibi Thanatos said making me roll my eyes. No shit Sherlock, how could I (a recently blessed) think of facing a being that can kill a god. Now that I think about it.
"How can a god die? I thought those guys were supposed to be immortal" I asked, again not expecting an answer.
"There a multiple ways a god can die. You could use a god killing weapon or simply when they are forgotten by all mortals" Surprisingly, my high budget Chat gpt answered my question.
"Unlike a god, primordials are almost immune to God killing weapons and do not rely on mortals to exist." He continued.
"Primordials continue to exist as long as their concepts exist. The primordial Nyx can live for as long as night exists, so the only ways to kill a primordial is to either erase their concepts, which is impossible, or erasing their soul" He concluded, allowing me to process his words.
"So if I understood correctly, Thanatos is dead either because the concept of death was somehow erased, which is less likely, or his soul was erased" I said, waiting for him to reply.
"You're right" He answered.
"So before we get to what my stats and those question marks mean, Why me? Don't misunderstand, I appreciate the fact that I'm chosen but Why did Thanatos choose me?" I asked.
"Well... you were the only soul without another god's mark so he chose you" he said and without waiting for my reply, he started the info dump.
"Now to explain the system"

1. Strength: Determines physical power and damage output in combat. It determines how hard you can hit and how much you can bench.
2. Agility: Affects speed, reflexes, and evasion. It determines how fast you can react, dodge or move.
3. Stamina: Represents endurance and energy levels. It can affect how long you can fight or use abilities before tiring.
4. Intelligence: Influences magical or mystical abilities. It also determines the amount of mana you have.
5. Endurance: Affects your ability to take damage and recover from injuries. Higher endurance can result in better health and resistance.
7. Luck: why the f*ck is yours showing question marks? Anyway, it determines your encounters. Basically, it's a measure of how f*cked you are.
You can increase your stats by assigning your free stat points which you'll get from killing monster.
Killing monsters also grants you exp which you'll use to level up.

"And that's all for your stats, I can't tell you about your abilities yet but they'll unlock when certain requirements are met" he concluded his info dump.
"I see, so basically an RPG character stats screen, how original" I said with an eye roll.
"Exactly, now if you'll excuse me, I'll be going back. Just call my name when you need me, bye." He said and disappeared.
"Okay, since that's dealt with, Let's get registered as a chosen so I don't end up being labeled as a vigilante or a villain" I got up, searched for my other wallet (since the previous one was lost under that rubble) and put on some comfortable clothes heading to the Association.
*Growl* "well, after a meal of course" I said, remembering I hadn't eaten since I came back from the dead.
