Alisa retraced her memories back to where she lived before and settled down again in the small city of Astralis. Although the world is a little bit behind in technology and trends compared to her previous life's generation, it wasn't that far off. Tall buildings and skyscrapers already existed and high-end modern cars were seen everywhere being driven by the rich while average and low-end cars were for the common people. Also, the country was rather peaceful and firearms were mostly banned in this place. The only ones allowed to carry those things were the military but it was barely needed in this timeline.
Alisa was finally able to start the life she wasn't able to achieve before. It was a little rough at first, but soon enough, she was able to adjust to the society. Her gold coins were turned into Eidelweiss currency which was called lux banknotes. She was shocked to find that her fifty thousand gold coins had been converted into fifty million lux. It was already a large amount for average citizens like her. As long as she didn't spend it wantonly, she would be fine for a while.
She also needed a job. Money won't flow like river, after all. Her savings would eventually run out. Fifty million wasn't enough to last for a lifetime unless Alisa would spend no less than a hundred lux per day. There was so much to consider in her life and she didn't have a single clue at all.
Five days later after she had arrived in Eidelweiss, Alisa though she should buy a house for herself. She wanted to carefully choose how to spend her money wisely.
Alisa didn't want to just rent an apartment forever or live in a hotel. It was much better to buy a smaller house so she would spared from paying the monthly rental which would only devour her savings in no time. Thus, she went to a real estate office to look for affordable flats.
Upon entering, she saw that there were only fewer customers since the day was still too early. A staff noticed her coming inside but didn't approach her. Instead, the saleslady had the look of disdain in her eyes as she examined her from head to toe. Alisa wasn't wearing any high-end brands of clothes nor wore jewelries and expensive watches.
Seeing that no one was trying to entertain her, she frowned but didn't let their snobby attitudes get into her. She went to look at the house models and examined them. There were several types like villas, a manor, and regular ones like a bungalow house which was good for a small family of three or more. Once she was able to choose what she liked, she looked around but still didn't see anyone approaching her. She was slowly losing her patience until a saleslady came forward and nervously called out to her.
"H-Hello, ma'am. Sorry to keep you waiting for so long. Have you found something you like among our available units?" The young girl asked. She had an air of purity around her unlike those other snobby employees who didn't spare a glance at Alisa. She must be a new employee.
Her irritation dissipated and she gently answered. "I want to buy this unit. How much is it?"
"Um... let me see." She took out a document that listed the prices of the houses and scanned for the price of the small house that she chose. Once she found it and was about to answer Alisa, another employee went forward and mocked her.
"Oh, Chloe. Why are you so dumb? Can't you examine your customers properly? Look at her clothes. She's just wearing cheap clothing. How could she afford a house? I bet she only came here to feel the cold air in the office and doesn't really intend to buy anything. How pretentious!" The employee who mocked the saleslady named Chloe was a woman in her late twenties. She was wearing thick make up and had an air of arrogance around her.
Alisa didn't say anything but she was annoyed by her remarks. She wanted to see first if Chloe's attitude would change after that like most people who hated the poor. To her surprise, Chloe frowned and retorted back. "Please stay out of this, Anastacia. We're supposed to serve the customers whether they buy something or not. Even if she does not buy anything, at least I've done my job properly."
"How dare you talk back to me? You're just a cheeky newbie who doesn't have a good foresight yet. Whatever! I warned you out of goodwill but you're so ungrateful." She said in disdain and walked away.
Not too long later, a couple walked inside the office. The woman wearing a light-colored dress was beautiful and filled with lots of jewelry on her hands while the man was wearing a checkered polo shirt and black shades that hid his eyes was currently in his thirties and he had a beer belly. The moment Anastacia recognized him, her eyes lit up and hurriedly went towards them with a smile.
"Hello, Mr. Parker. Are you here to buy a villa?" Anastacia greeted the couple and asked.
"Show me the units. I want to buy a villa for my wife." The man arrogantly said.
"Right this way, sir." She brought them to a set of model scales for villas which was only close to the ones Alisa was looking at. She then turned towards them and sneered while saying, "You see this, Chloe? This is how you should find proper customers, unlike that beggar over there who can't even afford good clothes."
Chloe was angered but she didn't say anything. She was slightly disheartened because Anastacia would usually oppress her and even steal her clients sometimes. Right now, she had another client but she wasn't sure if she would really buy a house. It was highly unlikely since Anastacia didn't steal her. Not that it mattered to her, though. She just had to perform her job well.
Alisa could see through her heart and she felt pity for Chloe. Thus, she changed her mind and went to the sets of villas instead of the smaller houses without waiting for Chloe to say the price of the ones she had picked earlier. After a few seconds of looking, she pointed at a large villa with beautiful interior designs. "I want to buy this one."
"Eh? Are you sure, ma'am? That villa costs three million dollars, you see..." She nervously asked. She couldn't believe what she was hearing and even doubt whether this customer of hers had the money to spend.
However, her doubts were immediately cleared away when Alisa took out a black card and handed it to her. She then excitedly exclaimed with glittering eyes. "A black card?! This is only issued by the Schwarz International Bank for VIPs!"
She was a newbie at work, but it didn't mean she was ignorant. Alisa commended her secretly with a smile on her face. Even she herself didn't know what the black card meant. It was given to her in the bank she had entered the day she arrived in Venice. The employee who had received her freaked out upon seeing the fifty thousand coins in the bag she was holding so they called out the manager to deal with her instead. She was invited to the office with a cup of coffee while the manager processed the conversion from gold to lux banknotes and handed her a black card afterwards. She really had to study about normal things soon.
"Um, would you like to pay the down payment only and the installments later on or would you pay in full?"
"I'll pay it in full. Consider it a good reward for entertaining me, Chloe." Alisa said with a smile.
Chloe almost jumped out of excitement but she tried not to since the transaction wasn't finished yet. Still, she was so thankful of Alisa. This would be her first successful transaction once it was done.
She carefully received the card and swiped it in a mobile payment terminal. Alisa entered her passcode and the payment went through, leaving only 47 million in her card. Chloe had a very wild smile as she went to take out the key of the apartment and gave it to Alisa.
"Here is the key to your villa, Miss Hayworth. The villa is located in the Golden Pavilion Gardens. Please come again." Chloe bowed with respect to her. Alisa was greatly satisfied with her temperament.
Everyone looked at her with admiration and bewilderment. They thought she was one of those low-key rich people who didn't like flaunting their wealth. Compared to that other guy who brought his woman with him, they paled in comparison to Alisa. It was really ironic.
The couple's faces sank and anger was burning in their eyes. They had been shamed by a random young woman and Klaus Parker couldn't accept it. A sinister thought entered his mind and he quickly whispered to Anastacia, who in turn displayed a disdainful smile.
"Hold on!" She ran towards the door and blocked Alisa's way. "You can't leave yet."
"Is there something wrong?" Alisa asked.
"Hmph! You claim to own that black card, but how sure are we that you didn't steal it? Look at your clothes! How dare you come here and purchase a unit with a stolen card?"
"Huh? Are you an idiot?" Alisa said with a frown while tilting her head.
"Idiot or not, we'll see if you're actually telling the truth. Guards! Don't let her get away. I will call the manager and have him come here." Anastacia demanded.
The guards blocked the door way and didn't let anyone leave. Alisa was quite irritated by this woman's antics and didn't have the energy to deal with her any longer. However, she knew her life as an assassin was now over. She was living in a lawful country. She couldn't just casually reap out the lives of these ordinary people no matter how despicable they were. But of course, if they dared harm her life, then she wouldn't show them mercy. She could only patiently wait for the manager to come.
Sooner or later, the manager hastily arrived at the scene. With the mention of a black card appearing in his office, he knew that the situation was serious enough and it might cause him to lose his job if he handled it poorly.
"What is going on here?" The manager had a dark expression plastered on his face as he approached them.
