Lily slowly opened her eyes. She could feel how heavy and tired they were. She blinked a couple of times, slightly adjusting to the light in the room. What came to her attention was a familiar white ceiling. But she felt confused, where was she?
She could feel herself laying on top of a bed, and she tried sitting up. But, it just felt like all energy had drained from her body. Then she heard the door open. She raised her head to see a woman walk in, holding a bowl.
Lily watched the lady walk towards her. She felt so weak.
Then she slowly recalled what happened. Her gaze flew wide the instant it all came flowing down her mind. She clearly remembered that she was poisoned and had lost consciousness. But how did she get here??
"How're you feeling?" She turned to the woman who came in.
Lily tried to answer her question, but she couldn't find her own voice. Perhaps because her throat felt so stiff and dry. She was thirsty as she gathered all the energy left in her to lift her hand and weakly point it at the cup of water on the table.
"Oh. Thirsty, are you?" The woman asked as she gripped the glass of water. She helped her sit up before helping her drink the water.
As the water gushed down Lily's throat, it felt painful yet relieving at the same time. She drank the whole water in a go and breathed heavily. She finally found her voice.
"Thank you," She said.
The woman smiled at her warmly.
"Who.…Who are you?" Lily asked her.
"I am Melissa. The pack's doctor," the woman said, placing the empty cup on the table.
"How did I get here?...." Lily stared around, realizing it was her room. How??
"The Alpha was the one who brought you to your room when you were unconscious." Hearing his name, Lily felt sick to the stomach. Her hatred towards them all was beyond measure.
"My, thank goddess they called me immediately. You were already in between life and death," the pack doctor said, smiling.
Lily heard her, but she didn't even seem happy or grateful to be alive. Why would she? They could have just left her to die.
Yesterday, she was prepared to die. It felt like the best option to leave the cruel, horrible world.
"Miss?" Lily was called back to reality as she turned to see the doctor talking to her.
"You should eat now, you've been unconscious for two days straight. I almost thought you would go into a coma."
Lily stared down at the bowl of soup in her hands. She was starving. She gently took the bowl of soup and began eating, not really caring if she could be poisoned again. If so, it would be for the greater good to die.
She gently sipped the soup, it tasted bitter yet sweet. When Lily was done, she took medication and was told to lie back down. As soon as she did, the door opened and Alpha Jederek walked in.
Lily saw him, and immediately looked away. Seeing his face alone was traumatizing.
He nodded at the doctor and she bowed before leaving the room. Seeing the woman leave the room made her uneasy.
He walked towards her bed and stared at her, and Lily made sure to avoid his eyes as she looked at the ceiling instead.
"How're you feeling now?" he asked her.
"Better," she replied shortly.
Alpha Jederek lifted his hand and brushed away the few strands that had stuck to her face due to sweat. The instant Lily felt his fingers on her skin, she flinched. Making him pause his hand.
"Do you remember who brought you the food Yesterday?" He asked.
Lily frowned. Was he trying to tell her that he didn't know anything about the poisoning? Even if he didn't, why did it matter? What difference would it make?
"it doesn't matter, Alpha."
Alpha Jederek saw the lack of emotion in her eyes and sighed. "They need to be punished for what they have done to you."
The more he spoke, the more hatred and abhor she felt towards him and his family.
"You can do whatever pleases you, Alpha," she remarked, looking expressionless.
He smiled at her cold face and voice. "Indeed, I will. If you tell me their name..."
Lily then paused for a second, before speaking, "Rose was the one who brought me the food." Why does she care if Rose got punished? She deserved death worse than anyone in this house.
"She shall be punished. Rest well," he looked at her one more time before leaving the room. Once he was gone, Lily could finally relax. After a while, she slept off. And when she woke up, the doctor brought another food for her to eat.
Lily quietly ate and took her medication again before going back to sleep, perhaps it was the medication but she felt very tired.
*Two days later*
Lily was alright now. And immediately she was out of bed, looking strong, she was back to being a servant. Lily knew nothing was going to change, so she wasn't surprised.
Rose however, was hanged, much to her surprise. Lily honestly never thought they would actually punish her, and she had no idea that her punishment was death.
She didn't feel sympathy though, but she did feel a little guilty for her death. And it only made her blame and hate the Alpha the more.
All the servants mourned her death, especially her minions. While some were secretly happy that she was gone, as she made life a living hell for them like she did with her.
It was almost sunset, and she was in the kitchen cleaning the plates. When all of a sudden, the kitchen doors flew open and there stood an angry Luna.
Luna Valerie looked at Lily and suddenly gripped her hand and dragged her out of the kitchen. Lily was too stunned to speak. She just kept dragging her down the hall in hurried steps that made Lily almost lose her balance.
She dragged her all the way to Lily's room, and as she opened the door, she pushed her inside, making Lily fall to the floor.
Valerie glared at her, speaking through gritted teeth. "Stay in this room and don't make a sound. If, somehow, you're found. You're dead."
Then she closed the door shut and locked it behind her, leaving a speechless Lily on the floor. She slowly stood up and sat on the bed, gently rubbing her hand that was already red from her tight grip.
She felt confused. What was going on?
First all the servants were behaving silly, now Luna? What was wrong with everyone today?
But she sighed, thinking it shouldn't be her concern as she laid on the bed.
~
The whole household was in a fiasco, all the servants running here and there like headless chickens. But why wouldn't they?
This was the first time the pack house was receiving a visit from the king.. The ancient king!
Everyone was nervous and scared, why were they suddenly receiving a visit from the king? Was it perhaps because of the Alpha's youngest daughter?
