Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

"What's going on?"

The time should be correct, so why hasn't he been forcibly logged out? Could it be that the server has been delayed?

Momonga hurriedly asked the nearby Genji, "Genji, has there been a delay?"

As he slowly opened his eyes, the familiar room came into view.

It was already past midnight, so why?

He quickly looked at Genji, who was still beside him.

Genji opened his eyes and sighed, taking in the familiar surroundings.

Thank goodness, just like in the plot, he had also crossed over.

He then began to explain to the confused Momonga beside him.

"Momonga, it seems like we... have crossed over?"

Momonga suddenly felt puzzled, unable to activate the "call out function," or any other functions for that matter.

He fell into deep thought; the voice he heard didn't sound like his own, yet it felt real. Glancing down, he saw a skeletal hand adorned with rings.

Then he looked at his own body—there was only a skeleton, devoid of any organs, with just the "Momonga Jade" used for attracting others.

But how could he speak?

What on earth is happening?

Could it really be that he had "crossed over"?

"Genji, what is happening?"

Just as he was expecting a response from Genji, a pleasant female voice interrupted.

"Lord Momonga, it seems that Genji might not know either."

Momonga was startled and looked for the source of the voice, only to find a woman standing beside him—Albedo.

He couldn't believe that something like this was happening to him.

"Is there a problem, Lord Momonga?"

Yabelde continued to inquire, making him a bit flustered. This was the first time he had heard an NPC speak independently.

Genji, however, was not surprised; after all, he had been waiting for this moment for twelve long years.

"Albedo, please don't make things difficult for Momonga."

He simply stated, prompting him to quietly step back.

"As you wish, Lord Genji."

Genji encouraged Momonga to try touching the surroundings and even the NPCs, especially observing their movements and expressions.

Soon, Momonga, following Genji's advice, approached Albedo.

(Referencing the original work...)

Seeing this, Genji shook his head, covering his face; he hadn't expected this guy to alter the setting to "still liking Momonga to this day," just as in the plot.

Momonga was astonished, "What's going on?"

After a brief flash of memories, he suddenly realized.

As a low-tier class of the Ruler of Death, the Death Mage could gain abilities during level-ups, one of which inflicted negative damage on targets they touched.

Was that the reason?

But usually, this damage wouldn't harm allies under the guild's protection.

So what was going on?

A faint light calmed him down, and he turned to look at the other guardians and maids around him.

They seemed alive, staring at him.

At that moment, Momonga was at a loss for what to do, anxiously turning to Genji as if to say, "Help me!"

Genji rubbed his temples and said helplessly,

"If we've crossed over to the game world, it should feel like reality."

Momonga suddenly understood; if that were the case, everything made sense.

He quickly apologized to Albedo, "I'm sorry, I forgot to deactivate the negative contact ability."

"No need to worry, Lord Momonga. That level doesn't count as harm, and if it's you, then...!"

It seemed like he let something slip!

He quickly glanced at Genji, who was wearing a mischievous smile.

He was certain he knew what was happening. Ah~ The guild leader was doing such things, how could he explain this?

As the calming effects continued, Momonga reluctantly reverted to his original state, responding to Albedo with hesitation.

"...Uh... um... I see... no, but I'm really sorry."

Hearing his adorable voice, Momonga felt flustered. In reality, he had never had a girlfriend! His response was stammering and awkward.

Genji, unable to watch any longer, looked at him and said,

"Hey, why don't you try giving them commands? I need to understand what's happening here."

Momonga still couldn't grasp the situation, so he decided to follow Genji's suggestion.

"Sebas—."

As soon as he spoke, Sebas, standing at the foot of the throne, lifted his gaze and stared intently at him.

Based on Genji's words, it should be fine to speak casually.

Suddenly, he remembered the commands issued by the higher-ups at his company.

"Leave the tomb and investigate the surrounding geography. If you encounter any intelligent beings, communicate amicably, invite them over, and try to accommodate their requests during negotiations. Your operational range is limited to one kilometer, and try to avoid combat."

Sure enough, Sebas bowed and replied, "Understood, Lord Momonga. I'll begin immediately."

As expected, Momonga watched Sebas leave the tomb as he instructed.

"...Select someone from the Orion constellation to accompany you. If you encounter combat, recall immediately and bring back any information gathered."

This could be considered a first step.

Does this mean it's all real?

He noticed Genji approaching him slowly, whispering,

"Um, it seems we really have crossed over. I'll go investigate outside to understand the situation better."

Just as he was about to leave, Momonga unexpectedly called out to him.

"Genji, what should I do next? Since this has happened, shouldn't the guild send you to help more?"

Genji didn't want to take on this mess; he shrugged and said, "I trust you, Momonga. Just act according to your own ideas; you should handle it well as the guild leader."

Momonga sighed in resignation, watching his retreating figure.

At least he had a friend with him in this crossover—his first time, after all.

What should he do next?

Momonga returned to his throne, deep in thought.

Outside the tomb,

Just as Genji prepared to leave, a demon-like creature flew down from the sky and gradually appeared before him, bowing slightly.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, Lord Genji. Are you planning to leave now?"
