The moment I landed, I felt like I had been swallowed by a fever dream wrapped in body horror. The fleshy walls of the human host's insides pulsed rhythmically, coated in a thin, glistening layer of mucous that smelled like expired soup mixed with gym socks. The ground squelched under our feet, a mixture of biological tissue and what I hoped was just congealed plasma.
Morty gagged immediately. "Oh God, why does it always smell like death and gym class, Rick?!" I ignored this and pulled an air purifying mask from my inventory, it was designed for poison but also worked for things such as bad smell, pollution, and allergies. It was also fog-free and had a clear vision, meaning the entire mask was transparent for me and me.
"Because, Morty," Rick replied, rolling his eyes, "we're literally inside a decaying meat bag. Do you think it's gonna smell like lavender and existential peace? Also, what is that you have on"
"An air-purifying mask, that can help negate the smell of this place while not obstructing the vision," I said, "Why want one? You got ask for it nicely."
"Ugh, no keep it. Don't blame me if a virus were to appear and eat you because you weren't able to smell it." Rick said with his eyebrows twitching ever so slightly, I laughed it off.
"Can I please have one?" Morty asked to which I thought for a while and since it gives me pleasure to see Morty suffer I have a nagging feeling in my chest that stops me, Humans' emotions remain a mystery even to my omnicompetence. I took another one out placing my hand inside my lab coat and activating my inventory. It costs me nothing anyway. I gave one to Morty and he wore it in a hurry unable to stand the stench any longer.
"Morty stop kissing your brother's ass for a movement and help me locate Dr. Xenon Bloom. Richard stop instigating your brother to serve you and feed you a humongous network of ego and stand guards for any virus" Rick said unable to bear with the fact he alone has to suffer with the smell, I threw him a mask too with a chuckle before pulling my latest model of laser gun from my pocket.
The Multiphase Blaster is a sleek, compact, one-handed laser weapon. Its ergonomic design features a matte-black composite alloy casing with subtle crimson accents along the barrel vents. Despite its light frame, it can be gripped with two hands for enhanced stability during high-intensity engagements. The weapon's angular contours and micro-textured grip allow for optimal control, even in zero-gravity environments.
Its standout feature is the Phase-Piercing Beam, which allows its high-frequency laser to phase effortlessly through basic energy shields and reinforced materials, making traditional cover and armor almost obsolete. For situations requiring area suppression, the blaster includes a Scatter Mode, which disperses the laser into a wide cone of energy pulses, perfect for crowd control or engaging multiple fast-moving targets, though with slightly reduced penetration per pulse. Adding to its advanced capabilities, the Heat-Seeking Protocol enables the weapon to lock onto heat signatures within a 200-meter range, with the laser subtly adjusting mid-flight to track and hit even the most agile opponents, making it highly effective in dynamic combat scenarios.
Supporting these core functions is an Adaptive Power Core that ensures rapid cooldowns and minimizes overheating during sustained fire, allowing for continuous, reliable performance. The Holographic Sight Interface provides real-time data, including target locks, scatter spread radius, and core temperature, enhancing situational awareness in the heat of battle. Lastly, the blaster is compatible with standard military-grade Energy Cells, with optional high-capacity variants for prolonged missions without the need for frequent reloading.
AN: Please comment on this paragraph if I should stop describing his invention in detail. If you don't like it then it saves me time and creative power which I can use on the actual story. I am not saying I don't like doing the description, I do like it but it also is sad if you were to skip over it and it brings nothing to the table. I am not saying you did or you have to read it, all I am is asking readers about this.
"That's new" Rick commented but did not say anything else.
"It looks cooler than Rick's model" Morty commented, for the first time I felt proud of what my brother said.
"Please, it is much less powerful than what I have." Rick said in an off-handed manner, "All it has is a show of wasted time making it look good"
"It is not making it look good, it is called aesthetics. Every invention has to have a design that denotes its family and yet makes it unique, I call your invention bad craftsmanship since all of them are just put together." I said taking offense to what Rick said, rick looked back and said
"It is a waste of time making it look good, it is a machine there is nothing more to it other than to serve its purpose," Rick said
"I would like to argue otherwise, unlike your mom who serves no purpose and looks even like it. The design of an invention tells the story of it, unlike your basic ass model although powerful if someone picks it up. They could not feel its soul" I said
"You sound like a spiritual guru with all this nonsense you are spitting out, and also you curse at your great grandma," Rick said, he had no feelings for his parent since it has been so long and the shit he witnessed. Before we could continue on this standoff, Morty said
"Can we focus on the ca-"
"ARRRRRRR!!!" A sudden squelching roar interrupted him. From the dark, fleshy corridor ahead, a mutated white blood cell, bloated and dripping with pus-like ooze, barreled toward us like an organic wrecking ball. It had far too many eyes and teeth for something that was supposed to be microscopic.
