Chapter 6 - Home

Henry Esprit

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS, PLEASE STOP MESSING WITH MY HEART LIKE THAT. This girl is going to be the death of, and she's going to kill me from her teasing, my heart won't be able to take it and will just give out, I just know it.

I looked down at Andrea, who was holding onto my arm with a slight mischievous smile on her face. Well, whatever, as long as it makes her happy I guess.

We continued our walk through the park in silence, just enjoying the scenery and each other's presence. At some point she stopped holding onto my arm and switched back to walking alongside me hand-in-hand.

We admired the greenery of the park underneath the setting sun. The light glistening the treetops, the birds slowing their chirping as they get ready for the night, the crickets begging their tunes. Being completely surrounded by nature with Andrea at my side was a new kind of feeling, almost surreal. Looking at her face I could tell she felt the same way.

A while later when the sun was almost completely set we made our way back to the car. Once inside, I started the vehicle and began to drive. "It was beautiful, wasn't it. The scenery." Andrea suddenly said.

I recalled the look on her face as we were walking, her bright eyes looking over the scenery, the slight smile on her face showing she was enjoying herself. "Yeah, it really was." I responded. She grabbed my hand and rested it in her lap for the rest of the drive.

We drove in silence the rest of the way back to her house. I slowed to a stop in front and she opened the door and started to get out of the car. "I had a lot of fun today, I'll see you in class tomorrow, bye." "Bye."

Saying our farewells she closed the car door and walked up to her house. I watched her walk all the way up to the door before entering it, only then did I drive off, heading home.

Andrea Leno

"Welcome home." As I entered the front door of my house I was greeted by my mother. My mother was as draw dropping as usual. Long black hair, crystal black eyes that could see through everything, and an absolutely beautifully sculpted face and body that have any man who sees her swooning over her.

"Thank you." I walked up the stairs and into my room where I plopped down on the bed. I replayed the night over and over again in my head, all while rolling around on my bed and giggling to myself.

"GAH WILL YOU SHUT UP!" My older brother, Kevin Leno suddenly burst through the door and started yelling at me, I guessed I'd been louder than I thought. He was the spitting image of our father, minus the facial hair, and the fact that he was younger.

"No" I responded without sparing him a glance. "YOU-" It seemed like he wanted to yell at me but had his words cut short. "What are you doing? It's late, go to bed." Our father suddenly appeared behind him, surprising both of us. Not but a second later he turned around and walked away, leaving just as suddenly as he appeared.

"That old man is gonna give me a heart attack someday." Kevin sighed, Exasperated. "Can you get out of my room now, you heard dad, it's late, go to bed." I told Kevin, still not looking up at him. "You- Y'know what, nevermind, night." Seemingly giving up, he left. "Goodnight" I went back to replaying the night with Henry before eventually falling back to sleep."

I am exhausted. Between school, exorcism work, and almost ruining my date with Andrea, I am completely out of energy. When I finally got home I slumped down on the couch as I was too lazy to trudge upstairs to my room.

Not long after I had situated myself on the couch the front door opened again. "Well don't you look tired." Being too lazy to look up at the man who had walked through the front door I responded from my spot on the couch. "Welcome home dad." My dad, Arthur Esprit, one of the elders in our family, walked past me into the kitchen.

He was dressed in a uniform similar to my sisters except without the bandana, it was replaced with small circular glasses that had a thin black frame. We didn't look too much alike other than our hair or eyes. He is the skinny, scholarly kind of person.

"Are mom and Mana home?" He asked from the kitchen. "No clue." I responded, still slouched on the couch. "Alright." He came back out from the kitchen with a talisman in hand. "What's that for-" Lanuae.

Before I could finish asking the question I was moved from the couch to about 4 feet above my bed. Great. I landed with a thud and a grunt. I could hear my dad laugh from downstairs. Not funny, very not funny. He did that on purpose.

Whatever. Without giving it too much thought I tucked myself in and drifted off to sleep.
