Chapter 9 - Chapter - 8 : The 'Mighty' Dragon

The whole world was spread into three continents two giant continents and a tiny continent which cover about 40 percent of planets surface their is a continent in the center and east to it is the larger continent and south west to it is the smaller continent

There are 3 groups of humans have been roaming the lands of central continents along with them There are a group of elves settled in the dense forests of the south due to the forests rich vegitation and a group of dwarfs were settled in the northern mountain ranges and a group of humans have settled down on a lake side at the eastern continent where beastmen roamed individually or sometimes in pairs have made contact with them initially they were hostile to each other but later humans started welcoming beastmen into their tribe due to their expertise in catching animal thus leading to the first inter species tribe where two species co existed.

The dragon Hatchling has been born in the south eastern continent has started to hunt small species of animals .

As Zephry oservved the black dragon from his screen, he could barely contain his laughter at the scene unfolding below. The tiny dragon hatchling, though fierce in spirit, was hilariously awkward in execution. It stalked its prey—a large deer grazing peacefully in the meadow—with every ounce of its newborn determination. Crouching low, it crept forward, eyes gleaming with predatory focus. But as soon as it pounced, its small claws slipped against the wet grass, and it practically skidded right past the deer, barely managing to hold on to its hind leg.

The deer, shook off the dragon and bolted. Unfazed, the hatchling scrambled to its feet, running after its prey with a mix of excitement and frustration, weaving in and out of bushes, its tiny wings flapping uselessly in its attempt to gain speed. The chase led them into a clearing, then the deer running infornt of the dragon was suddenly hit by something big from the sidelines.

The little dragon froze, eyes widening as it instinctively sensed danger infront of it was a black wolf with red eyes with the deers neck caught in his jaws dropped the deer and jumped towars the dragon. Though smaller and clearly outmatched, the dragon stood its ground, inhaling deeply and summoning a small, unpolished spark of fire from deep within. To its astonishment, the spark actually seared the beast's flank, enough to make the predator yelp and retreat in shock. In a surge of triumph, the dragon unleashed its tiny flame again, sending the creature running off into the depths of the forest.

As the hatchling caught its breath, basking in the glow of its small but significant victory, Zephry decided it was time to introduce himself. In a flash of light, he appeared right beside the dragon, who looked up in utter astonishment, frozen in place as Zephry leaned down and grinned.

"Oh, aren't you just adorable!" Zephry exclaimed, sweeping the little dragon into his arms before it could even react.Though

Unfamiliar the dragon decided not to act as it sensed some kind of connection between them

The hatchling squirmed, eyes wide and bewildered as Zephry lifted it to eye level. "Look at those tiny little teeth!" Zephry cooed, reaching out to poke its soft, newly formed scales. "And these claws! Oh, you're just the fiercest little ball of fluff, aren't you?"

He then began rubbing the dragon against his cheeks, grinning ear to ear. "Fluffy and ferocious! A true apex predator," he declared in mock seriousness. The dragon, entirely bewildered, let out a small growl of protest but was powerless against Zephry's playful strength.

The more the dragon struggled, the more Zephry seemed delighted. "Oh, come on now, little one! Let me have this moment," he said, holding it closer and rocking it gently. "Do you know how hard it is to find a dragon this fluffy?"

Finally, the hatchling stopped squirming, deciding with an exasperated sigh to simply endure whatever strange game this new creature was playing. After a moment, it gave a resigned little chirp, sounding almost like a huff. Zephry, eyes gleaming with mischief, chuckled at the dragon's expression.

"There you go! See, it's not so bad," Zephry continued, gently patting its head. "You'll thank me later when you're big and strong and too 'mighty' to let anyone cuddle you."

The dragon, still unable to speak, merely blinked at him, clearly confused but oddly calmed by his presence. Zephry finally set the hatchling back on the ground, watching it regain its balance with a look of reluctant dignity. The dragon gave him a long, skeptical look, as if deciding whether this creature was trustworthy.

Zephry knelt beside it, resting his elbows on his knees as he met its gaze. "Alright, alright, I'll stop embarrassing you," he said with a wink. "But since you're such a tough little one, how about I show you a few tricks to help you out there?"

Zephry, extended a hand, creating a small, shimmering orb of mana that danced above his palm. The dragon's gaze fixated on the orb, its small body instinctively responding to the pull of magic. Without thinking, it reached out a claw, attempting to swat at the glowing sphere like a kitten playing with a toy.

"Careful now!" Zephry teased, pulling the orb just out of reach. "This is mana. If you're going to survive in this world, you'll need to learn how to use it properly. No more tumbling and slipping, alright?"

The dragon puffed up, as if affronted, and attempted a small growl—though it came out as more of a squeak. Zephry chuckled and gently guided its tiny claws to the orb, letting it feel the mana's warmth and power.

A soft, warm glow began to emit from the dragon's scales, a testament to its natural affinity with mana. It cracked one eye open, clearly excited by the sensation.the dragon tried making the same but all it can make a tiny glowing do which is gone in 2 seconds

They spent hours together as zephry guided him on how to move the mana around it to form different elements, though unable to communicate dragon's are extreamly intelligent creatures along whith high mana affinity with Zephry patiently guiding the dragon through basic spells. Every now and then, he would ruffle the dragon's scales or coo at its "fluffiness," earning himself a bewildered look or a gentle nudge in response. The dragon, though still young and clumsy, seemed to enjoy the attention, even growing slightly attached to the mysterious figure who had appeared out of nowhere to help.

Eventually, the dragon managed a small burst of flame, this time more controlled and powerful not from his mouth but this time from his palm. Zephry clapped his hands in mock applause, grinning as the hatchling puffed up proudly. "You're getting the hang of it now!" he said with a wink. "Who knows? Someday you might even be a proper dragon."

The dragon, understanding only his tone, gave a happy chirp and nuzzled Zephry's hand, showing a surprising hint of affection.

"Alright, little fluff, I'd better leave you to it," Zephry said, scratching the dragon behind its tiny horns one last time. "You've got a whole world to explore, and I have a feeling you're going to grow into something impressive."

As he began to rise, the dragon grabbed at his cloak with its small claws, giving him an imploring look. Zephry chuckled, gently patting its head. "Don't worry, little one. I'll be watching. Grow strong—and keep those claws sharp."

The dragon let go reluctantly, giving Zephry one last look of what could only be described as admiration. With a soft hum, Zephry vanished, leaving the dragon to its new home, its spirit buoyed by the strange, affectionate encounter. And from that day on, as the dragon grew and explored, it remembered the odd figure who had called it "fluffy" and promised to watch over it, guiding its journey from afar.
