Chapter 32 - The drink blood pandemic. 32

The sight of his daughter's lifeless body lying next to their mother was too much to bear. His knees buckled, and he collapsed to the floor, shaking violently as sobs wracked his body. I. I couldn't have done this, Elias whispered, his voice broken, desperate. The blood on his hands felt like it was seeping into his soul, staining him forever. The urge that had on his mind now seemed distant, but the horror of what he had done remained painfully clear. He crawled over to his wife and daughters, tears streaming down his face as he reached out to touch them, his hands trembling violently. "Sarah, my girls, please," Elias choked, his voice cracking under the weight of grief. But there was no response. Only silence, a crushing silence that echoed through the room, sealed his fate. With trembling fingers, he reached for his phone, dialing nine, one, one. His voice was barely audible as he whispered into the phone, Help. I've killed them. Please help me. A few minutes later, the police arrived and took him away.

On the other hand, Sarah one of the scientists that was part of the research that unfortunately unsealed the ancient demonic power, she is the one carrying the power of light. She sat in her living room, her eyes glued to the TV screen as the news reported the horrific events involving Dr. Elias Gray. She was in despair. Dr. Gray, her colleague, the man she had worked with on countless research projects, had committed such a gruesome crime. The very man who had been with her and the rest of their team during their research trip to that Hurks forest. Since their return from that trip, Sarah has been plagued by disturbing dreams, each one more unsettling than the last. She saw disasters sweeping through Uptown and Hollow Creek. Sometimes her friends cried out for help, their voices filled with fear. In one particularly vivid dream, Sarah found herself standing at the edge of a dark abyss, watching helplessly as her colleagues plummeted into the void. Their voices were filled with fear, echoing in her ears as they called out her name, their hands desperately reaching for her. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't save them. The dream always ended the same way with her standing there, paralyzed, as they disappeared into the darkness. These nightmares were becoming more frequent and intense. Sarah couldn't ignore them any longer. Something had gone terribly wrong during their research trip to the forest, and Dr. Gray's breakdown was only the beginning. The dreams seemed to be a warning, but she didn't know what they were trying to tell her. Determined to get answers, Sarah made the decision to visit Dr. Gray in Hollow Creek. She needed to see him to understand if he had experienced the same darkness that was now consuming her dreams. With his court appearance just weeks away, this might be her only chance to find out what really happened in that forest and how they had unknowingly unsealed something ancient and dangerous. Packing her things quickly, she left her home, her mind racing with questions. As she drove toward Hollow Creek, a sense of dread settled deep in her chest. She wasn't sure what she would find, but she knew one thing for certain, nothing would ever be the same again.

As Sarah stepped into Hollow Creek, her heart beat with unease. The town felt eerily quiet, the weight of what she was about to face pressing heavily on her shoulders. She made her way to the police station, her thoughts racing as she clutched her ID card, hoping to be granted access to see Dr. Gray. Once inside the station, she approached the front counter, flashing her ID. I'm Sarah Lawrence, a scientist. I'm here to see Dr. Elias Gray, a colleague of mine. The officer hesitated, eyeing her ID before turning to confer with a colleague. After a few tense moments, he nodded. "Alright, follow me." Sarah followed the officer down the dimly lit hallway, the narrow corridor flanked by cells on either side. The air was thick with the scent of dampness and despair. As they neared the end, Sarah froze as she heard a voice echoing through the hall. I'll kill you! Come closer, and I'll drink your blood! Dr. Gray's voice was filled with madness; his words were slurred and deranged. I am a monster! You stupid water, stay away from me! Sarah felt a cold chill run down her spine. She could barely recognize her colleague's voice. The man she had once known as brilliant and composed was now reduced to a lunatic, raving like a caged animal. When they finally reached his cell, Sarah called out, Dr. Gray, it's me, Sarah. At the sound of her voice, Dr Gray's crazed demeanor shifted. His eyes, once wild and unrecognizable, softened as he pressed himself against the bars, desperation etched into his face. Sarah! Sarah, please, you have to help me, he gasped, his voice trembling. Get me out of here, I don't know what's happening. I'm losing my mind. Sarah took a step closer, gripping the bars tightly. Dr. Gray, calm down. Tell me what happened. What's going on with you? He shook his head frantically.

I Don't know.  I killed them, Sarah. My wife, my daughters, I killed them. I drank their blood. He cried, Something, something is taking over me. Sarah's breath caught in her throat, unable to process the horror of his words. Dr. Gray, what do you mean? This isn't you. There must be something we can do. Suddenly, his eyes darkened again, and his voice took on a sinister, mocking tone. You can't help me. No one can help me. I'm a monster. I'll kill you too, Sarah. I'll drink your blood. He let out a guttural laugh, his body shaking violently as he struggled between madness and clarity. Sarah recoiled, horrified at the transformation in him. For a moment, it was like staring into the eyes of a stranger. But then, just as quickly as the madness came, it was gone again. Dr. Gray's face crumpled, tears spilling down his cheeks. Sarah, please. Save us.

The book. It's the only way, Dr. Gray whispered, his voice trembling with desperation. His eyes locked onto hers, wild and pleading, as if struggling to hold onto the last of his sanity.

The book? Sarah asked, stepping closer to the bar. What book are you talking about, Elias? Dr. Gray's face twisted with fear as he looked around, as though someone or something was watching. The book holds the key. It can end this evil…this evil inside of me. You need to find it... before this evil consumes us all. Sarah's heart was beating fast in her chest as she processed his words. The once brilliant scientist, now reduced to this broken man, seemed to be trapped between moments of clarity and madness. Before she could ask more, Dr. Gray's expression shifted again. His eyes darkened, and the manic look returned. "I'll kill you!" he snarled, backing into the shadows of the cell. I'll drink your blood! Sarah recoiled, stepping back, her breath catching in her throat. She had the book but can't remember where she kept it. I need to find that mysterious book and find out whatever it was before the darkness spreads further. But how? And where could it be hidden? As she hurried away from the cell, Sarah rushed back to her car and drove straight home, her mind racing as she replayed Dr. Gray's frantic words. "The book can save us," he had said, just before falling back into madness. Once home, she frantically searched her house, tearing through shelves, boxes, and drawers. Hours passed before she finally found it—a dusty, ancient-looking book buried deep in her attic. The moment she opened it, however, confusion washed over her. The letters were strange, twisted in unnatural shapes she couldn't decipher. They seemed to shift and shimmer as if alive. Just then, a breaking news report caught her attention. She turned to the TV, where grainy footage showed a man walking unsteadily through the streets like a deranged lunatic. Suddenly, he lunged at a couple who had been sitting innocently by their car. Without warning, he stabbed them repeatedly, then bent down to drink their blood from their wounds. The horrifying scene sent a chill down Sarah's spine.
