Chapter 38 - Visit to Somalia island. 38

After Sarah and Tamara finished discussing their plan, they both sat in silence for a moment. Tamara, deep in thought, finally said, We need to visit Somalia Island. The clues in the book all point there. Sarah nodded but objected," We don't have much time, Tamara. We need to leave tomorrow morning. The longer we wait, the worse it'll get. Tamara frowned, her expression serious. Sarah, I'm a vampire. I can't travel during the day. The sunlight will kill me. Sarah looked at her sister thoughtfully before saying, What if I could help you? Maybe, with a little magic, I can make your immune system stronger, just enough that sunlight won't hurt you. But it won't last for long. Tamara's eyebrows rose in surprise. "You can do that?" I think I can. I've been learning more about my powers, Sarah replied confidently. Before Tamara could respond, Mary interrupted their conversation. What about us? What if those people come back? We can't stay here. Tamara turned to her, already considering the next move. You're right. We'll need to get you out of here. Do you have a phone? Mary nodded and handed over her cell phone. Tamara quickly dialed Mrs Charlton's number. As the call connected, Tamara began explaining the situation. Mrs Charlton, it's Tamara. I'm calling because we need help. Deborah took over. There was a pause at the other end of the line, and then Mrs Charlton's voice came through, filled with shock. Deborah what? That can't be. She's supposed to be dead. The military bombed her camp. No one survived. Tamara's voice hardened. "She's alive. And she's more dangerous than ever. She is now their leader; who knows what her next move will be." Mrs Charlton took a sharp breath. I can't believe this. If Deborah's back, it explains everything.

"She's feeding off the chaos and growing stronger by the day," Tamara continued. We need help; they are two humans. I needed to get them out of Uptown for their safety; they saved my life. I almost died comforting Deborah. So I can't leave them here, it's too dangerous. Can you send a backup? Mrs Charlton paused before responding. I'll get a team together. We'll get them to safety at the government camp outside Uptown. But Tamara, please be careful. If Deborah is alive, it means the situation is more critical than we realized. I know, Tamara said. Thank you, Mrs. Charlton, she said, and then hung up. Tamara turned back to Sarah and Mary. We're not alone. A backup is on the way, and we need to be ready to leave for Somalia tomorrow morning. Sarah, with determination in her eyes, placed a hand on Tamara's shoulder. First, let me strengthen your immunity so you can survive the sunlight. Tamara nodded and lay on the bed as Sarah began her magical work, focusing all her newfound energy, to help Tamara become a daylight vampire but for a while.

It was a sunny early morning. The backup team arrived at the location where Tamara, Sarah, Mary, and her husband were staying. Mary and her husband had already packed their few valuables. As soon as the backup team pulled up in their vehicle, they quickly got in, preparing to leave. Mrs Charlton, who had accompanied the team, stepped out and immediately came face to face with Tamara. Tamara smiled and embraced Mrs Charlton. It's so good to see you, Tamara said warmly. How's Mirabel? Mrs. Charlton returned the smile and hugged her tightly. Mirabel's fine. She's doing really well, and she asks about you all the time. Tamara nodded, relieved. That's good to hear. Mrs. Charlton looked at Tamara, her expression shifting to concern. Tamara, I'm really worried about you. Aren't you coming with us? Tamara shook her head. No, we have a mission at hand. She gestured to Sarah. This is Sarah. She's helping me with something important. Sarah has magical abilities, and we've discovered something that could help us deal with the Drink-Blood Society.

Mrs Charlton raised her eyebrows, The Drink-Blood Society? You seriously need to do anything possible to bring an end to this issue. Tamara nodded. Yes, we have to.

Mrs. Charlton frowned, thinking for a moment. Before she spoke. And what about Deborah and the rest of the vampires, who are still loyal to her? Tamara's face turned serious. Please don't make any aggressive moves against her. It would be too dangerous right now. Not all vampires are loyal to Deborah, but many follow her because she won the last battle. Deborah and I fought, and she won, so they had no other choice. So I need you to assure me that no one launches any attacks on her. Not all vampires are loyal to her, but if you provoke her, it will lead to more bloodshed. Mrs. Charlton nodded slowly, digesting the information. I'll speak to the mayor, but you need to be careful. "I will," Tamara assured her. Just keep things calm while we're gone.

After the conversation, they all entered the van and zoomed off. They drove for about 30 minutes before reaching the waterfront. Tamara and Sarah stepped out of the van, walking towards the boat station while the van continued on its journey. At the station, they boarded a sleek, single-speed boat that sped them across the sea towards Somalia Island. As the boat approached the shore, Tamara slowly stepped out, her eyes scanning the landscape. Memories flooded her mind, the haunting images of the things that had occurred on the island, events that had drastically changed her life. The flashbacks lingered as she recalled every detail of that fateful time, the chaos, the bloodshed, and the emergence of the first human vampires. The atmosphere was thick with tension as they walked forward, heading deeper into the island. The boat station faded behind them as they ventured into the bushy, overgrown paths. The dense foliage and the eerie silence reminded Tamara of the horrors she had witnessed there before. Every step brought her closer to the place where it had all begun. With Sarah walking beside her, Tamara clenched her fists. She knew that this journey would bring them face-to-face with the past and the dark powers that still lingered on the island.

Yes, here we are, she said to Sarah. "Now, we have to find our way." She stretched out her hand, signaling for the book. Sarah handed it over. Tamara began flipping through the passages, searching for guidance on their next move. After a few moments, the direction became clearer to her, and they started walking until they reached a very rocky area, a dark, rocky cave. "Are we going in there?" Sarah asked hesitantly. Tamara looked at Sarah and nodded. "If we're going to embark on this, we've got to be brave." Just as they were about to enter the cave, they heard noises, and bats suddenly flew out, startling them both. They paused, and as they gathered themselves, a voice called out from behind them. Hey, ladies! Tamara and Sarah spun around, scanning the area, but saw no one. Then the voice spoke again, "Look up." They turned their gazes upward, and to Tamara's shock, it was Henry perched on a tree branch. "Henry!" Tamara gasped, pulling back from the cave entrance and focusing her full attention on him. Sarah, confused, asked, Who's He? Do you know him? Yes, I  do. He's my boyfriend, Tamara explained, still astonished. Henry, what are you doing here? Henry smiled but remained mysterious. That's a long story. What brings you here? Tamara sighed. We followed the directions given in this book. We're searching for the ancient vampire wizard. Henry raised an eyebrow. The vampire wizard? Interesting. Well, I can lead you there. Follow me. Tamara was still processing the shock. But Henry, you haven't told us anything yet. Why are you here? But Henry had already started walking towards the cave, leading the way, and Tamara and Sarah, though bewildered, followed close behind.
