Ivy gently held Kate's finger between her lips, her tongue softly caressing the wounded spot, lightly drawing out the blood.
The metallic taste was both salty and slightly bitter.
Kate's icy façade shattered completely; her throat tightened as she turned her face away from the camera's view.
This intimate moment lingered for an indeterminate time before Ivy released her grip. Looking up, she mused aloud, "Do vampires have different taste buds than we do?"
"Otherwise, how could they find blood delicious?"
Any atmosphere that had built up was instantly dispelled by her words.
Kate swiftly withdrew her hand, her voice cool. "I didn't ask you to suck my blood."
Ivy put on a pitiful expression, feeling rebuffed. "But I thought it would make your finger hurt less. I didn't want you to feel embarrassed sucking your own finger in front of others."
