The park was quiet and peaceful that evening. The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the grass. Jay was sitting on a bench, his face pale and drawn. He was still feeling the sting of the punches he had received, but the pain was nothing compared to the worry he felt for Erin.
He had been waiting for Erin for almost an hour, and he was starting to get worried. He had called Erin several times, but he hadn't answered. He knew that Erin was probably scared and upset, but he couldn't help but feel a pang of fear himself.
Just as he was about to give up and go home, he saw Erin walking towards him. Erin was still pale, and his eyes were red and puffy from crying, but he was trying to smile.
"Hey," Erin said, his voice shaky.
"Hey," Jay replied, his heart swelling with relief. "I was starting to get worried about you."
Erin sat down next to Jay, and he couldn't help but reach out and take his hand. Erin's hand was cold and clammy, and he could feel his heart pounding beneath his skin.
"I'm sorry I ran away," Erin said, his voice trembling. "I just... I didn't want to see you get hurt anymore."
"It's okay," Jay said, squeezing Erin's hand gently. "I'm fine. I'm just a little sore."
"But you were hurt," Erin said, his eyes filling with tears again. "They were so mean to you. I hate them."
"Don't cry," Jay said, his voice soft and gentle. "It makes me sad to see you cry."
Erin wiped his tears away, but he couldn't stop the sobs from escaping his lips. Jay pulled him closer, wrapping his arms around him. He held Erin tightly, whispering words of comfort into his ear.
"I'm here," Jay said. "I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you."
Erin leaned into Jay's embrace, feeling a sense of peace and security wash over him. He knew that he had found someone who truly cared about him, someone who would always be there for him, no matter what.
