Setting: Inside the thrift store. The customers are nowhere to be seen.
Wendy dashes to the left, near the registers.
Wendy: Good. Looks like the civilians used this time to flee.
Devlon dashes to the right near the clothing isles.
The robber with the shades points his gun around the clothing isles, looking for Devlon.
Shades dude: "Where'd he go?"
The robber spots Devlon behind some shirts.
Shades dude: "DIE!"
He fires at Devlon multiple times, but Devlon jumps from one spot to the next, getting closer as he dodges in a zigzag motion.
Shades dude: "Quit movin' around!"
Devlon stops. He's right in front of the robber, about 4 feet away. He reaches for the sword handle behind his shoulder. The robber points the gun at Devlon.
Shades dude: The idiot stopped moving. Now he's so close it's pretty much a point-blank shot. "Now I gotcha!"
Devlon dashes at the robber.
Shades dude: "Die!"
The robber pulls the trigger.
Sfx: BANG!
From the robber's perspective, Devlon is nowhere to be found.
Shades dude: "What the…?"
The robber with shades aims around but looks confused because he can't find his target. Devlon stands behind him, his back turned. His hand is still on his sword handle.
PAGE 2
The robber takes a step back. He back bumps into Devlon.
Close up on Devlon's hand as he places the sword handle back onto the sheath.
The robber turns around, startled as he realized it was Devlon that he bumped into. Unfortunately for him, the barrel of his handgun falls off.
Devlon: "So…"
Still behind the robber, Devlon leans over and puts an arm around the robber's shoulder, smirking at him.
Devlon: "You were babbling about someone dying today, right?"
PAGE 3
Perspective shift: Wendy's perspective. Wendy sits with her back against a register stand, gun in hand. The robber with the hat is seen beyond her hiding spot. He's firing off shots in the direction of Wendy's hiding spot.
Hat dude: "C'mon. It's no fun if you're just gonna hide, little girl!"
Wendy pulls out a mini folding mirror. She glares into the mirror, moving it around at different angles.
At the right angle, she's able to see the robber with the hat behind her. Above him is a long LED light hanging from the ceiling. It's dangling from the chains attached to the ceiling.
Wendy: "Oh, now there's an idea."
Still looking at the mirror, Wendy raises her arm to aim her gun behind here. She doesn't seem intimidated at all as more sparks appear around her from the robber shooting at her.
Wendy: Aaaaaaand there.
Wendy fires, hitting the chain from the LED light above the robber.
Hat dude: "C'mon out! Or are you too scared-"
BAM!
The LED light falls from the ceiling, crashing against the robber's head.
PAGE 4
The hat dude holds his head, losing his focus on Wendy.
Hat dude: "Argh! What was that?"
He looks up to see Wendy standing across from him. They're about 8 feet apart. Wendy's looking at her gun as if she's examining it.
She raises an eyebrow, turning the gun around and picking it apart.
Wendy: "This handicap should even things out a bit."
Hat dude: "What're you mumblin' about?!"
Wendy (still looking at the gun): "Huh? Oooh nothing." Is this nerfed enough? "Just wanna dumb it down to make this a fair fight is all."
Hat dude: "Come again?!"
The robber angrily points his gun at Wendy.
Hat dude: "Look at me when I'm talking to you, dang it!!!"
Wendy looks up at him, question marks floating over her head.
Wendy: "Huh? You ready?"
Hat dude: "You won't be so calm with a bullet in your face!"
Close up on the robber's hand. His finger squeezes the trigger.
Hat dude: "Now DIE!"
PAGE 5
With a bored expression, Wendy shoots the gun right out of his hand.
The robber is frightened, a sweat drop running down his head.
Hat dude: "Ya know, I didn't think it would come to this, but I'll have to use my secret weapon!"
He pulls out a pair of nunchucks. A $6 price tag is attached to the nun chucks.
Wendy: "You sure you know how to use those?"
Hat dude begins twirling the nun chucks with a smirk on his face.
Hate dude: "Heh, just you wait n see. I don't normally hit girls but…"
Wendy looks at the price tag of the nun chucks.
Wendy: "Six bucks? WOW!" That's a steal.
Hat Dude: "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE AFRAID!!!" Pay attention to me, dang it!
Wendy: "Oh, sorry. Carry on."
Hat dude: "Just watch. In moments, you'll be seeing stars!"
PAGE 6
The robber twirls the nun chucks until he hits himself right below the belt.
A sweat drop appears on the back of Wendy's head.
Wendy: *sigh* "You good?"
The robber falls down and doesn't respond. Wendy walks away, shoulders hunched.
Wendy: "I doubt he'll get back up any time soon."
Off screen voice: "Ah, you're alright. Looks like you took care of him."
Devlon walks over to Wendy.
Wendy: "Of course. Well, what about you? Have any trouble beating that other guy?"
Devlon: "Well, I didn't really do anything."
PAGE 7
Devlon: "He kinda just passed out."
Wendy works on her gun.
Devlon: "Gun jammed?"
Wendy: "Nah. While your guy was busy fainting, I had to get creative and make it a fair fight. I failed."
Devlon: What does that even mean?
SFX: *click*
They both turn their heads toward a big wall with a gigantic combination lock on it with the word "Safe" on it.
Devlon: "You hear that? I think it came from that safe over there."
Wendy: "It's like they're asking to be robbed!" Why have a safe on the wall like that?
The safe door begins to crack open.
Wendy: "Didn't they mention something about their boss earlier?"
Devlon: "Yeah. So…"
Wendy cocks her gun. Devlon grips his sword handle.
Wendy and Devlon: "There's still one more."
PAGE 8
The giant safe door opens. A big bald dude walks out with a couple of money bags. Since the safe door is wide open, you can see inside the safe. Bars of gold are seen in the room.
Devlon: "He's taking the gold. We gotta stop him."
Wendy: What kind of Thrift store is this? "Hey Devlon, is there anything odd about this whole situation to you? Like, the big safe and the gold? In a thrift store?"
Devlon: "Of course. It's a robbery. Now let's go!"
Wendy closes her eyes, rubbing her temples in frustration.
The big dude drops his bags as he witnesses his two comrades unconscious on the floor.
Big Dude: "What the…what happened here?"
Wendy waves the guy down.
Wendy: "Um, 'scuse me!" *whistles* "Over here!"
Wendy points her gun at the guy, holding it sideways.
Wendy: "We happened. And I suggest you give up now and come quietly."
Devlon: "Or end up like your friends over there."
The big guy walks to the side, eying the two cops.
Big dude: "You think I'm scared of a gun and a couple puny cops? My entire fit is bullet proof! Why dontcha come at me like a real fighter?"
Wendy looks at Devlon.
Wendy: "You heard em. So, who's gonna get him? You didn't even get to stretch your legs, but I feel like I was cheated out of a real fight."
Devlon: "Now's your chance. I'll back you up if you need it."
Wendy: "Thanks, but I got this."
Wendy casually walks towards the robber, stretching her arms.
PAGE 9
Off Screen Voice: "WAIIIT!"
Wendy and Devlon turn around.
Wendy: "Wait, how…you know what, I'm not even gonna ask."
Devlon: "You! But...how did you get here?"
Wendy side eyes Devlon.
Wendy and Devlon turn around to see Elliot pointing at the big guy.
Elliot: "I just hitched a ride under that horsey carriage after I called for a lift. But I'm here to take on the boss!"
Devlon: "YOU called that creepy driver!?"
Wendy: "Isn't the base in the middle of nowhere?" How fast is that horse?
Big dude: "You sent a puny kid after me? You coppers definitely ain't catchin' me alive!"
Elliot: "'Coppers?' What year are we in? Let's get this over with."
Devlon puts a hand on Elliot's shoulder, pulling him back.
Devlon: "Hold on. You're not even authorized for this."
Wendy: "He's got a point."
Elliot: "Look, lemme just show you what I'm made of. If things get bad, ma girl Wendy's got my back."
Wendy: I do?
Devlon: "Fine. But only this once. Wendy will jump in if it gets bad."
Wendy looks at Devlon with a confused expression.
Wendy: I will?
Elliot walks over toward the big dude.
Elliot: "This'll be a piece of cake."
PAGE 10
As Elliot gets closer, he realizes how big the big dude is. The big dude looks down at Elliot, cracking his knuckles.
Big dude: "Is that so?"
Elliot: He looks a lot bigger up close. No matter. This'll be just like a match in Super Avenue Fighter!
The big dude swings at Elliot. Elliot ducks to dodge.
Elliot: As expected, he's kinda slow.
Big Dude swings downward at Elliot with his other hand. Elliot rolls backward, successfully dodging.
Elliot: And at a distance I've got more room to strategize. I'd say this matchup is 7/3 in my favor!
Big Dude jumps at Elliot to close the distance, but Elliot dodges again, moving behind Big Dude. Elliot's back now faces the wall with the safe (since the wall was behind Big Dude).
Elliot: I'll have the upper hand if I can get some hits on em, then widen the distance again. As long as I don't get closed in. Otherwise…
Elliot jumps back to gain some distance. In doing so, his back hits the wall, surprising Elliot.
Elliot: "Oops." This matchup has just shifted to 9/1, his favor! I didn't even consider the wall!
PAGE 11
Big dude throws a downward punch at Elliot. Elliot blocks with both hands over his head. Though the block was successful, the force of Big Dude's punch makes Elliot's knees bend.
Elliot falls to all fours. He tries to dash to the side to get distance again.
As Elliot tries to dash to the side, Big Dude catches Elliot with a kick, shoving Elliot back against the wall.
Big dude: "Where do ya think you're goin, kid?"
Big Dude kicks Elliot against the wall, again.
Elliot: "Oof!" This dude hits hard!
Elliot falls to his hands and knees.
Elliot looks straight ahead with Big Dude standing over him, Elliot sees Wendy and Devlon at a distance through the gap between Big Dude's legs.
Close up of Elliot's feet kicking against the wall.
Elliot: Use your surroundings as needed.
Kicking off the wall, Elliot dives in between Big Dude's legs. Big Dude crouches to catch Elliot, but he misses.
Elliot successfully slides behind Big Dude.
Big Dude: "C'mere you little-!"
Elliot: Anticipate the next move. Since he's thirsty for the kill, I can only assume he's…
Still crouched, Big Dude quickly turns around.
PAGE 12
As the crouched Big Dude turns around, Elliot turns around and dives headfirst at Big Dude.
Elliot: Gonna turn around to attack.
Elliot rams his head into Big Dude's face, smashing Big Dude's head against the wall behind him.
Elliot: Just in time for this headbutt!!!
Big Dude slides down the wall with blood coming from his nose and teeth.
Big dude: "GAAAAAGaaaagaaa!!!"
Elliot stands up with a smirk on his face.
Elliot: "Heh. K.O."
Elliot turns to Wendy and Devlon with a smile on his face. With his eyes closed, he holds out the peace sign with one hand.
Elliot: "Yat-ta!"
PAGE 13
Elliot catches up with Wendy and Devlon. They look impressed.
Wendy: "Nice head-butt. Got a little rough for a moment, but you managed." Thought I was gonna have to step in for a moment there.
Devlon: "You've got some good moves under pressure. With some training, you'll polish nicely." Impressive.
Elliot: "Hehehe. Yeah. Just like a video game in some ways. Ready to swoop these guys up?"
Off screen voice: "HOLD IT!"
The gang turns around.
It's the robber with the shades; the one that fainted after his encounter with Devlon. He stands about 15 feet away from them.
Shades dude: "There's no WAY I'm gonna be humiliated like that! And I'm not goin' to jail either!"
Elliot casually walks forward, cracking his knuckles.
Elliot: "Stand back, I got this. I'm going two for two."
Devlon: "Go for it."
Wendy: "Have at it."
As Elliot confidently walks over to the robber with shades, the robber pulls out a pistol, aiming it straight at Elliot.
Shades dude: "Not so fast."
Elliot stops walking.
Elliot: "Eh?"
PAGE 14
Elliot stares at the robber's gun, unsure what to do.
Elliot: A gun? I didn't…I didn't think…
Shades dude: "Yeeeeeah! Not so tough now, are ya? C'mon, wassup?!"
Elliot is completely zoned out, frozen in fear.
Elliot: I can't dodge a…bullet. *gasp* "Why...can't I move?"
Devlon hastily dashes forward towards Elliot.
Devlon: "No! He's frozen up!" I was careless, AGAIN!
Wendy is in the background, dashing to the side.
Wendy: "SHOOT!" He isn't moving! Time to step in! "Snap out of it, Elliot!"
PAGE 15
Devlon runs up behind Elliot and shoves him out of the way.
Devlon: "GET DOWN!"
Elliot falls to the floor.
Shades Dude pulls the trigger.
SFX: BANG!
Elliot's faceplants on the floor. Devlon, who was behind Elliot to push him out of the way, is now falling backwards. There's blood coming out from the side of his upper body as he falls back.
Devlon: "GAH!"
Devlon lies on his back, eyes tightly shut. He's in pain.
Elliot crawls over to Devlon as he begins to panic.
Elliot: "Devlon!"
Devlon: "Get…away. You've gotta…"
Elliot looks at Devlon's body.
Elliot: "Are you okay? Please tell me you're alright!" I'm sorry. I'm so sorry!
PAGE 16
Elliot is taken by surprise as Devlon grabs him by the shirt and dodges to the side, pulling Elliot along.
Devlon: "Guns hold more than one bullet, ya know! Quit panicking and get a grip!"
As Devlon dodges (while carrying Elliot along), sparks fly off the ground. He barely dodges a couple shots.
The robber sits on one knee and takes aim to the side. He appears to be looking for someone.
Shades dude: "I already got one! Don't think I forgot about you, miss…" where'd she go?
Wendy, who previously ran off to the side, comes around to the side of the robber while putting her pistol away.
Wendy: "Looks like I won't be needing this, after all."
Shades dude: "Don't think I won't blast you cuz you're a chick!" She put her gun away and is still comin' at me?Must have a death wish.
Wendy stops running and calmly walks toward the robber.
Shades dude: "Don't say I didn't warn ya!"
Close up of Shades dude's gun as he pulls the trigger.
SFX: click click
Shades dude looks at his gun with a confused look.
Shades dude: Huh? "What the..."
The robber, still on one knee, looks up at Wendy. Wendy stands right in front of the robber with her arms crossed.
Shades dude: Uh oh.
Wendy: "To be willing to harm others just for money…is something I just fail to understand." The love of money...
Shades dude: "Um…I'm sor-"
PAGE 17
Wendy's foot flies across the robber's face.
Wendy: "SHUT IT!"
Wendy knocks the robber out cold. Mouth open and eyes spiraling, the robber is in a daze.
Wendy: "Blame your trigger-happy friend over there with the hat. I noticed you picked up his gun. That gun holds 12 bullets. He fired off ten, then you shot two. He cocked it before I fought him, telling me there wasn't an extra shot in the chamber."
Wendy walks away from him towards Elliot and Devlon. Devlon slowly stands to his feet with Elliot's help.
Wendy: Fighting such amateurs is embarrassing. "Hey, Devlon. You okay? Can you walk?"
Devlon: *grunt* "Yeah. I'm fine. He only got me in the shoulder." Still hurts like crazy!
Elliot: "You good?" Sorry, sorry.
Elliot faces Wendy but avoids eye contact out of guilt.
Elliot: "Wendy…I…"
Wendy: "This is why trained officers do this kind of thing!"
Elliot: "…"
Wendy: "But we are the ones responsible, here, letting you fight like that. But at least you're not hurt."
Devlon chimes in, holding his shoulder.
Devlon: "Panic is the enemy, Elliot. Remember that."
Elliot: "Yeah." *sigh*
Wendy analyzes Elliot with concern.
Wendy: He's shaking. "Let's just clean up here and get-"
Off screen voice: "HOLD IT! We're not finished yet!"
PAGE 18
Devlon: "You've lost. What more could you do now?" He's persistent, I'll give him that.
Wendy: "Really? You still want more?"
The robber with the shades gets up. One of the lenses on the robber's shades is missing after Wendy had kicked him in the face.
Shades dude: "No. I'm not goin' to jail. This here is MY turf! And this town just ain't big enough for the four of us!"
Close up on Wendy, her head slightly cocked and turned. She has a straight, almost emotionless stare on her face.
SFX: Sound of a record player coming to an abrupt halt.
Wendy: "I'm sorry, did you just call me fat?"
Shades dude: "Um…what? No, I didn't-"
Wendy: "That's what you just said!"
Shades dude: "What the! Guys! Did you hear me say-"
Devlon and Elliot: "We're not getting' in this." Nope.
Wendy slowly walks to the robber.
Wendy: "Yes you did! And I quote: 'You can't fit in this town with everyone else! You'll probably get stuck through the door on the way out!'"
Shades dude: "Those words literally never came out of my mouth."
Suddenly, the scenery becomes dark. With a dark glare and piercing red, glowing eyes, Wendy cracks her knuckles.
Wendy: "I'll show you fat."
PAGE 19
Scene shift. Setting: Back at Site 7 near the entrance on the first floor. Forte, Wendy, and Elliot are speaking to each other. Wendy looks unusually cheerful, pulling off her version of a cheesy Elliot smile with her eyes closed.
Forte: "Good work catching those bad guys. They'll be in holding until we get 'em transported to a local jail."
Wendy: "All in a day's work, Master Forte."
Elliot: "Yeah. That guy with the shades will probably be locked up for a long time. He confessed to everything. He even took the blame for war, famine, and world hunger."
Perspective shifts to the robber with the shades. He's in a dark room, rocking back and forth while pulling his knees up to his chest. He still has his shades with one lens missing, with a maniacal smile to match.
Shades dude: "Hehehehe. It's okay. Solitary confinement for the next four generations isn't so bad. Anything to get away from her!"
Back to Wendy and the others, who're still discussing the thrift store incident.
Forte: "Though we didn't suffer major casualties, things could have been much worse. That's why we have rules, Elliot."
Elliot looks down, defeated.
Elliot: "Yes sir."
Forte: "This isn't all fun and games. First thing's always first."
Wendy: "By the way, how's Devlon? Can we see him?"
Forte: "Sure. Our ER is down the hall from the Simulation Room."
When they make their way past the Simulation Room, Wendy and Elliot stand in front of twin doors with the ER sign above.
Elliot: "Soooo do we just walk in?"
Wendy: "I mean, how else do you check on him?"
PAGE 20
Elliot: "Maybe you should go in alone. He might not want to see me."
Wendy turns to face Elliot.
Wendy: "Okay, what's up with you?"
Elliot: "Huh? What do you mean?"
Wendy: "You've been all gloomy since we got back! Well? Spit it out."
Elliot: "Woah! Is Wendy worried about me?"
Wendy rolls her eyes.
Wendy: "Just spill it already!"
Elliot looks down, putting his hands in his pockets.
Elliot: "I just-I mean, if I didn't freeze up like that, Devlon wouldn't be in the ER right now. I should have listened to Forte. Maybe I'm not as cut out for this as I thought. All I'd do is cause someone to get hurt."
Wendy: "And blowing up people's cars, let's not forget that."
Elliot: "…"
Wendy: *sigh* "Yeah, he is in the ER. And he wouldn't be, had you not panicked. But what do you expect when you're not experienced yet? Besides, you'd be in a lot worse shape than him if he didn't knock you down."
PAGE 21
Wendy places a hand on Elliot's shoulder. Elliot still avoids eye contact.
Wendy: "Look. If you're strong enough to kill a military bot and destroy my car," still pissed about it, "then just think of how strong you'll be once you're all trained up. You're strong. You just need practice, and I'll be there to help you out."
Wendy gives Elliot a smile, placing her hands on her hips.
Wendy: "I've seen a lot of rookies crumble in way less dangerous situations. You're good. I promise."
Elliot: "Wendy, I…"
Elliot looks at Wendy with glassy eyes.
Wendy: "Hm? What? Why're you staring at me with those eyes?"
Elliot fully embraces Wendy (her arms, too). His eyes are closed with a smile. Wendy's taken by surprise by the bear hug but she doesn't seem upset.
Wendy: "Hey, what the-"
Elliot: "Thanks Wendy. I think I really let myself get down in the dumps for a moment. You really can be nice at times!"
Wendy side eyes Elliot.
Wendy: "Thanks, Elliot. That's exactly what every girl wants to hear."
Elliot: "No prob."
Wendy: I take it all back.
PAGE 22
Feeling more like himself, Elliot throws his hands behind his head.
Elliot: "Ya know, the doctors probably need space to concentrate, so I'm gonna head outside. I could really use some fresh air, anyway. Care to join?"
Wendy: "Sure. That actually sounds refreshing. I'm gonna go to the lady's room first. I'll catch up with you in a moment."
Elliot makes his way outside at the entrance of Site 7. Now that the sun is out, he can see the large parking lot with police cars off to the side. A little further down is grass and a few trees. The perfect sunny day.
Elliot: "Ahhh. Much better."
Off screen voice: "HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!"
Elliot turns around to see a young man standing on the edge of one of the pillars above the door to the entrance.
Elliot: What now?
Close up on the guy. He's standing with his arms crossed and a cocky smirk to match. He's a Caucasian young man around Elliot's age. He has fiery, spiky blonde hair with a touch of orange to it. His pants are slightly baggy, but not sagging. There's a rising smoky aura coming off of him.
Spiky hair dude: "I hope you're ready. Cuz All hell's about to break loose. Hope you're ready to pay for the issues you're causin'!"
Elliot: "Come again?"
