Chapter 13 - 13. An Accident Occurred In The Police Department!

Yagami didn't start checking his system until the system's notification sound completely disappeared. The functions were simple and crude. The interface resembled a game shop. In the upper right corner was the feedback point balance, and at the bottom were the products.

"Sage Body! Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan! Rinnegan! Tenseigan... Good guy, these are all incredible things!"

Seeing these items available for exchange, Yagami almost lost his composure. Unfortunately, the exchange values for these items either had a lot of zeros or a lot of nines.

"Damn! It's so expensive! I have less than 10,000 feedback points, so I can't even afford a single piece!"

Looking at the refreshed countdown below, Yagami understood that these products wouldn't always be available in the mall.

"It seems that I'll have to work hard to get more feedback points. Otherwise, these things are just eye candy. Negative feedback seems to give more points!"

He checked the feedback point status. Although the feedback given by the Uchiha clan was large in number, the points were generally around 500. Even though Danzo's feedback was only twice, each instance was worth four-digit points.

"A little more than 8,000 feedback points... it seems that only this question mark can be purchased. Welfare goods?"

There were nine product columns in the interface, eight of which were specific items, either bloodline limits or Forbidden Techniques, with ridiculously high prices.

Only a question mark in the upper left corner had a price of one thousand feedback points, and it was the only item Yagami could afford right now.

[Ding! Host purchased a random item, gaining a boost in pupil power!]

With the thought of giving it a try, Yagami bought the question mark and immediately felt a cool sensation in his eyes. The pupil power he had used during prior tests was instantly replenished.

If you use Mangekyō Sharingan too many times, you'll go blind. Essentially, Mangekyō's pupil power is fixed, and if it's exhausted, your vision will be lost.

But if pupil power could be replenished...

Yagami couldn't help but feel thrilled. Originally, he thought that without the Eternal Mangekyō, he would have to use his eyes sparingly. Now, it seemed he could be bolder.

[Ding! Random items are limited to one purchase per day. Please wait for the item to refresh.]

Yagami: …

Damn it! Making me excited for nothing, but still, it's better than nothing!

"Captain, something happened at the police department! Hokage has requested you to go to the Hokage building."

At this moment, a member of the Uchiha clan hurried over with an anxious expression.

"Hokage building? What happened?"

Yagami was stunned for a moment, considering he had relinquished authority over the police department, and the title of captain was merely symbolic. The Third Hokage surely understood the implication.

"It seems to be related to the village's defence. Shinobi from other villages not only entered the village but also killed members of the police department."

The visitor said quietly, "Although there are still a few Uchiha in the police department, they're mostly just observing the situation. Major responsibilities are handled by other shinobi clans, so the exact details aren't very clear."

······

When he arrived at the Hokage building, quite a few people were gathered inside. Not only were the clan heads present, but also the elder advisors—and even Danzo, who had been absent recently, showed up.

As soon as Yagami entered, his gaze settled on Danzo's right eye, hidden beneath a bandage. There was an eerie sensation about it. If nothing else, there was likely another Sharingan behind it.

[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for receiving negative feedback from Shimura Danzo, earning 1,127 feedback points]

Although Danzo was visibly furious, he didn't dare provoke Yagami. After all, the gathering included the heads of various ninja clans, and the aftermath of their previous encounter still lingered!

Yo! Such an easy gain! Looks like I'll be hanging around in front of this guy often—thousands of feedback points just for being here.

Since Danzo wasn't provoking him, Yagami had no intention of causing a scene. After all, Danzo still held the position of Hokage's advisor, and creating trouble without a valid reason wasn't wise.

"Lord Hokage, what is it you need from me? Let me clarify first—I've handed over all police department information and patrol routes. The arrangement and deployment of personnel are up to the other clans. I hold the captain's title, but nothing else."

As Yagami spoke, he immediately distanced himself from the police department, clarifying the separation between the title of captain and the actual duties.

The captain is just a title, while the shinobi are shinobi. The captain doesn't command other shinobi, and he hasn't directed them, so don't blame him if something happens.

[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for receiving negative feedback from Sarutobi Hiruzen, earning 1,046 feedback points]

"Yagami, you misunderstand. You're not being blamed; we called you here to discuss something."

Being so curtly distanced by Yagami left the Third Hokage momentarily embarrassed. He coughed twice before responding.

"Really? That's surprising! The Uchiha clan hasn't participated in the village's discussions or decision-making for years now."

Yagami's tone continued with a touch of biting sarcasm, enough for the Third Hokage—and even the other clan heads—to sense the tension. In recent years, the Uchiha had been excluded from decision-making and held no seats among the elders.

"Captain, this isn't a matter of discussion and decision-making; it's an issue in our police department. We asked you to join us to discuss and resolve it."

The Sarutobi clan head quickly interjected to shift the topic. Yagami gestured for them to continue, indicating he was listening.

"The situation is as follows.

The police department, now composed of members from various clans, has only recently taken over its duties.

It requires more effort to maintain law and order.

Two teams are needed to resolve disputes.

There are now numerous security gaps. Shinobi from a hostile village managed to enter Konoha undetected today. Although they were discovered eventually, the patrol team lost two members in the process."

The Third Hokage briefly explained the situation, making sure Yagami understood it. Judging by Yagami's indifferent demeanour, it was clear he hadn't been paying attention to the police department's affairs at all.

Assigning a liaison officer from each clan to separate the Uchiha from these other shinobi seemed like a solution, but it had backfired. Uchiha's isolation didn't bother them, but now, when a serious issue arose, they had to involve the captain, Yagami.

Yet, the captain knew nothing about the situation and hadn't been involved in any way. This left the Third Hokage feeling like he'd shot himself in the foot.

"Tsk! So, are you saying your clan members are that weak? Or did you fail to assess their capabilities when choosing candidates? Did you think the police department's job was just to stroll around the village every day? Not everyone needs to be Jōnin-level, but at the very least, the squad leaders should be!"

Hearing this, Yagami's tone grew even sharper. The other clan heads remained quiet, but the Sarutobi clan head barely restrained his anger, as the deceased were his own clansmen.

Yagami's words not only belittled the Sarutobi clan but implied a disregard for the lives of their own members.

"Ahem! I'll urge the clan heads to assess their members' strengths carefully… Yagami, the Uchiha members who were previously suspended, have had ample time to reflect. Do you think it would be possible to recall some of them?"

The Third Hokage coughed awkwardly, shifting to the main reason he'd called Yagami here.

Previously, he'd been indifferent, but the police department's role was crucial to the village. Although members from other clans had joined, familiarizing themselves with procedures was a challenge.

So, the Third Hokage wanted Uchiha to handle the police department's transition, helping stabilize security until the new personnel were fully accustomed.
