Chapter 18 - 18. Danzo's Revenge

With yellow hair and a whisker-like beard on his face, the boy's distinctive features made it obvious he was none other than the "eldest prince," Naruto.

When Yagami had first crossed over, he had planned to get in touch with Naruto, but Naruto had been just a newborn back then, so there was no point in making contact at all.

Later, when Naruto grew a bit older, the Third Hokage prevented the Uchiha from approaching him due to Naruto's special identity, so that plan was set aside.

According to the timeline, Naruto's "talent point" should be maxed out by now, and if there's no accident, there's bound to be one soon.

Sure enough, when Naruto reached the door of the barbecue shop, he threw the bag he'd been carrying.

Curious about Naruto's antics, Yagami activated his Sharingan as soon as the bag was tossed.

After seeing the bag's contents, Yagami couldn't help but freeze. Inside was a large pile of excrement from some unknown animal—thin and watery!

The customers in the barbecue restaurant had no idea that the disaster was coming their way and continued eating happily. When the "surprise" landed, the look on everyone's faces turned green…

"Hahaha! Try to catch me, losers! You can't catch me…"

Seeing everyone in the barbecue shop staring at him, Naruto patted his backside proudly and dashed off before the staff could react, leaving behind only chaos.

"This guy… really knows how to make an impression…"

Yagami's mouth twitched. It seemed Naruto wasn't well received in the village, and it wasn't all Danzo's fault. His personality probably contributed a lot!

But ultimately, he was the village's Jinchūriki, and the Third Hokage's surveillance of Naruto was likely just as intense as it had once been for the Uchiha. It was best not to interfere; it was the Third Hokage's headache, anyway.

Shaking his head, Yagami was about to return to practice and continue writing ideological and political materials when a sharp whistle caught his attention.

It was the Uchiha Police Department's distress call, coming from the direction of the Uchiha family's business district.

Without a moment's hesitation, Yagami vanished, heading straight to the source of the call.

Under normal circumstances, it was rare for the Uchiha Police Department team to request assistance, as ordinary troublemakers wouldn't pose enough of a threat.

For a situation to arise that the police department couldn't control, there could only be one explanation: ninjas were involved, and more than one. Otherwise, with the Uchiha Police Department's capabilities, they could still manage to subdue enemy shinobi in the field.

When Yagami arrived, he witnessed a chaotic scene. Dozens of people were wrestling together, and there were about ten shinobi in the crowd. Although they were only mid-level Genin, the setting was a bustling street, not a battlefield.

Numerous civilians were around, including many from the Uchiha clan due to the nearby family business, and although two Uchiha teams had gathered, they hesitated to break up the fighting, as the instigators were both dragging and striking them.

Seeing the situation spiralling out of control, the first team on the scene sent the distress signal.

Something's wrong! Something's off about these people!

From his vantage point on the roof, Yagami observed the scene and quickly noticed the anomaly. Under normal circumstances, no matter how deep their grudges, most would restrain themselves once the police arrived.

After all, Uchiha law enforcement is quite serious, but those people below not only didn't restrain themselves but even pulled and beat members of the police department. This is too unusual; after all, this is within the Uchiha's territory!

"Don't hold back! If anyone is injured or worse, I'll take responsibility. They're defying the village's order—fighting in the street and attacking law enforcement officers. Do they think the Uchiha are made of mud?"

After assessing the situation, Yagami instantly appeared beside a Chūnin, knocking him out with a swift roundhouse kick.

Hearing Yagami's words, the Uchiha present didn't hesitate at all and immediately displayed their full capabilities. In just a few minutes, all the troublemakers were sprawled on the ground, moaning, with many sustaining broken limbs.

Of course, the Uchiha maintained their sense of proportion; ordinary civilians were merely incapacitated, but the shinobi weren't spared—they would feel the pain for sure.

"Detain everyone and investigate their backgrounds. I want to ask Lord Hokage why there are such hostilities between villagers that lead to group brawls in the streets!"

Yagami spoke with a dark expression. Although he lacked direct evidence, this entire incident reeked of something suspicious. Other than that old dog Danzo, who else would go through the trouble of orchestrating such a meaningless disturbance?

If this was revenge for the death of one of his men, it was a poor attempt! The police department was here, and these people couldn't afford to make trouble.

Back at the police department, Yagami reviewed the records of the troublemakers. They were mostly civilians, with the involved shinobi being low-level Genin with no affiliation to any particular clan.

As for their reason for fighting? It was absurd—they had been arguing over who was stronger. As for attacking the law enforcement officers, they claimed they hadn't seen clearly and lashed out in the heat of the moment.

Yagami had hoped to get some leverage over Danzo and report it to the Third Hokage as negative feedback, but this information was too weak to make a case.

It was truly frustrating, knowing who was behind this but being unable to retaliate directly. Danzo was being unusually cautious this time!

As for the possibility that this incident was an accident, Yagami dismissed it immediately. Though the current police department faced various criticisms, the area around Uchiha's business district was firmly under Uchiha's control.

With six police teams stationed here, only a fool would cause trouble in this area, especially with the increased foot traffic recently.

Before Yagami could figure out a solution, another team from the Uchiha Police Department brought in a group, causing further trouble on Industrial Street, and this time, a shop had been smashed.

Over the following days, there were repeated incidents on Uchiha Industrial Street: fights broke out, stores were vandalized, and losses continued to mount.

All at once, foot traffic in Industrial Street dropped sharply. Elsewhere, people avoided the streets due to the presence of Root members, and here, the constant disturbances discouraged villagers from coming.

Yagami wanted to detain these troublemakers indefinitely, but each one had a plausible excuse.

According to public security regulations, they had to be released once their detention period expired.

There was nothing he could do about it.

After all, the police department had its hands tied by higher-ranking shinobi regulations.

"Yagami! Recently, the income from Industrial Street has plummeted, seriously impacting our capital reserves!"

With the family business affected, Fugaku, who was focused on reviving the clan's economy, couldn't stay idle and called for an overnight meeting with Yagami.

With the police department's negative influence diminished, life for the clan had improved day by day. Not only had their image with the villagers improved, but their business ventures had also begun to flourish.

But this new business was still in its developmental stage and required continued investment. The foundation of the family's primary income could not be jeopardized!

Discussing the matter, Yagamifelt just as frustrated. Danzo was too careful this time, giving him no clear path to fight back.

However, they couldn't let this continue. The "Uchiha's First Five-Year Plan" was meant to be a gradual and orderly development, and their economic foundation was essential.

"I understand. Since Danzo wants to be disruptive, if he's going to play by the rules of junior high, I won't hold back from taking it up a notch myself..."

There were some actions Yagami hadn't wanted to initiate so soon. After all, if they moved too quickly, things could spiral out of control. However, under the current circumstances, he would have to make his move against the Shimura clan.
