Elena looks at herself in the full-length mirror after putting on her uniform, she likes what she sees because not only does she look stylish she looks smart, she doesn't just look like a regal model but a student about to go to an elite school for the rich magi.
She has to admit the uniform does suit her well. It's like she was born to be wearing this uniform. It's so simple yet stylish and sophisticated.
She's on a yellow top and a navy blue blazer with the sleeves rolled up, she's wearing a black and gold plaided skirt which is way above the knees, she has long white stockings on and black flat shoes. She also can't do without having accessories on her body. There's a purple-shaped amulet dangling around her neck and she has rings on her fingers and different coloured bracelets around her wrists.
Elena loves politics and activism but she loves fashion just as much. She has to look good every step of the way. Who says you can't be taken seriously in politics when you're all feminine and you love clothes and going shopping? She's never going to act like those things don't also matter to her. After all, she's just a girl.
She smiles at herself in the looking glass loving what she sees and she turns around and says "I'm ready."
Adele gives a nod of approval because she knows that she is indeed ready. "Nice, you look great," Adele says looking at her Pixtab and scrolling through it. Elena knows that whatever Adele must be doing in that tab has everything to do with her. Adele is a very organized person and yes one has to be organized when they're running a whole palace. Elena admires Adele's hard work and vision.
"Okay, you have your notebooks and your writing materials in a suitcase. You'll be given textbooks when you get there. You will meet the house mother who is going to assign you someone to show you around campus and most importantly show you to your room. You won't be confused because there will be lots of people that will want to help you. Who wouldn't want to help a princess?"
The thought of being helped simply because she's a princess is nice and all but Elena doesn't want to be treated like a princess at school, she wants to be treated like everyone else. "Aren't there other princesses in that school too?" She asks.
"Yes, but not much, some are in Wales, Scotland other British countries where Hollow Prep is located. But let's be realthe focus will solely be on you since you're the lost sun princess."
Elena can only smile but she doesn't want to be seen as the lost sun princess either she just wants to be Elena, the girl who is there to study and be the best she can be.
Adele claps her hands which is Adele speaking for "Maids you can leave now." which the maids understand fully and they do leave.
"Come come, eat breakfast with your family before you leave," Adele says walking out the door, Elena lets out a happy excited breath and walks out of the room. They head outside which is where her family eats breakfast. The tradition started with the Princess who wanted there to be a garden in the backyard. Princess Vanessa the first.
She loved flowers and nature so much that one would say she was an earth fairy and not a light fairy. She pleaded with her family to turn their boring backyard into a garden and to always eat breakfast outside because the morning sun was so good to them and one should enjoy the mornings outdoors and not indoors. So the family will eat outside in the mornings and inside any other time of the day.
Elena is walking toward the table while admiring the beautiful scented flowers and the magical creatures hovering around those flowers. The one that catches her eye is the butterfly with rainbow wings and it leaves a trail of sparkles as it flutters its wings.
So beautiful.
Elena loves the fact that Alex and Pierre are on the table as well. They don't treat them like the knights who saved their niece but rather the friends who helped them bring their family member home. And she knew Alex would be stuffing his face like an animal. She rolls her eyes still holding a smile on her face. She hopes Alex doesn't change, it's one of the things she loves about him.
"Good morning," she says cheerfully and they reply back in a cheerful tone. Well, everyone except for Uncle Benedict whose eyes are stuck on a newspaper where the characters are moving on the front page.
Headline: Fire fairies attempt to steal from a local bank with the help of a gnome.
"Why, you look stunning my dear niece." Uncle Conrad says to her and she smiles and thanks her uncle.
"Oh, I see you're already ready for school." Aunt Stella says sounding happy for her but Elena can sense the disappointment in her voice. "I didn't get time to spend much time with you."
"Don't worry Stella she'll be home during the Winter Holidays and we'll spend so much time with her then." Uncle Conrad confirms and that puts a smile on Aunt Stella's face. She already can't wait.
"You're going to do exceptionally well my dear. All you have to do is put your head up and don't let anyone intimidate you. There are a lot of intimidating people at that school." Says Aunt Imogen.
Alex scoffs at Aunt Imogen's words. "Barely," he says and Pierre hits the side of his chest with his elbow. "Ow," Alex exclaims with raised hands. Like he never said anything wrong. But the truth is everyone is more intimidated by Alex.
He's the top of his class, will beat you up if you ever try trash with him and has that look on his face that tells people you do not want to mess with him. Elena isn't surprised that Alex is intimidated by no one. Alex is the definition of intimidation. But she wonders what life would be like if Alex wasn't her friend. Will she be intimidated by him just like the commoners who aren't his friends?
"So we won't be seeing Elena again? But she just got here?" Billy says in a whine.
"Yeah." his brother agrees with him folding his arms and squeezing his face.
"Oh, darlings don't worry you'll see your beautiful cousin again. It's only temporary just like your cousin Henry." Aunt Imogen explains to her boys.
"But we don't like Henry we like Elena."
"Oh." Aunt Imogen says and Elena tries hard not to laugh.
"I don't blame them." She hears Alex say.
Elena leans over to talk to them she pinches their cheeks. They smell like what a child would smell like. They're in their uniforms but they're not going to Hollow Prep Academy they're still in primary school. Hollow Primary and they come home from school every day.
"Oh, do not worry guys. I'll be back soon and when I come back I'll come back with gifts." Elena says to her cousins.
They beam. "Really?" they say excitedly.
"Uh huh, and if you want those gifts then I want to see you smiling." She says and they smile showing their not-so-full set of teeth. "That's it. And I'm going to be calling Aunt Imogen to ask if you were smiling if you weren't then no gift. Got it." she says pointedly and they both nod. "Good, we have a deal." she leans backwards and she continues to eat her breakfast.
After breakfast, she goes up to the front to get into the limo. Her bags have already been placed in the back of the limo. Alex and Pierre look so hot in their uniforms. The uniforms the elves wear are not the same as the uniforms the fairies wear. While the uniforms the fairies wear are mixed with blue, gold and yellow. The uniforms the elves wear are all black.
A black sweater vest, a black armoured vest with the school logo which is in gold on the right side of the vest worn over the sweater vest. Black cargo pants and black boots. They look like knights in training which is what they are realistically.
Elena begins to hug her family members goodbye. Her Aunt Stella gives her a warm big hug, both her tiny cousins hug her legs and Rufie the golden retriever licks her on the face. Her Aunt Imogen gives her a side hug and tells her to kill em with beauty, whatever that means. She shakes her Uncle Benedict's hand and like always he doesn't say much, he just nods and looks away.
Seriously, how did someone like Aunt Imogen end up with someone like Uncle Benedict they're both polar opposites. But she's sure they make it work.
Elena hugs her Uncle Conrad who looks just like her dad or the closest thing to a dad she has here.
"If only your parents were here to see you," he says and Elena smiles at that. When she comes back she's going to be visiting their grave quite frequently. "Okay, go. Make us proud," he says and Elena waves at her family then turns around. She sits in the middle of the boys this time because they insist. They want to be able to protect her with ease in case something happens.
Elena looks at her family one last time before the limo moves along.
It's off to Hollow Prep Academy she goes.
