(Lilith's pov)
The chattering and gossip were fading little by little as I entered the school premises. The first time I joined here everyone would call me egoistic, arrogant, bitch and what not. Not that I care. I just don't know how to warm up to people.
At first some male colleagues did try to get close to me. But indifference and maybe also some rejections made them avoid me a little. Which also made my female colleagues more my enemy than Colleagues.
But that doesn't mean I am lonely. I have my best friend here, Maria. We have been friends since the moment I remember having a friend named sister. We are always joined by the hip. Some guys would even call us lesbians.
"Hey baby girl". Yes, that's Maria. The complete opposite of my character. Cheerful, bright, hippity-hop and siren.
"You just had to burst my eardrums, didn't you? And you are a teacher not a preschooler."
I said as we walked side by side to the teachers room to arrange lesson plan and study materials.
"Well , someone had to pour some life into you. Or you don't even blink even if the floor beneath you crushes to dirt" , drama queen as always.
"Or maybe you should keep your eyes on you before you slip on that freshly wiped clean floor." And that's how her clumsy day began as she braced herself holding me before she could wipe her reputation with a mop.
"You are annoying " Maria said as she got a hold on herself before any of the students or janitor could notice.
"And you still love me"
"That I do"
We both broke up in light laughter and headed to the teachers room to begin with our work today.
During lunch suddenly an emergency meeting announcement was made. We rarely have teachers meetings other than our compulsory weekly meetings.
"Hey girl, let's go ,the baldie is dying" Maria mocked the principal in a whisper as she peeked from her chair. Our worktable is beside each other. Which makes me much more comfortable. People find me indifferent . Which I am but I am uncomfortable around them too.
Maria and I both headed towards the Principal's office with our other colleagues for the meeting. It is said that the meeting is with
a new executive.
Which is more surprising though. Because the teachers are not needed in executive's meetings.
We all went to the Principal's office which is also connected to our meeting room. We all went in and took our seats.
And as I took my seat with Maria on the 5th seat on the left of the Principal's chair I was really surprised.
Beside the principal, there was a man in his early thirties with a crisp handmade suit with a mask on. And as if it was a devil looking at me with his red eyes to suck my soul out.
"It's the creepy Mart guy" I thought to myself as I recognised him at first glance. Which is a surprise actually or maybe not. I hardly remember people who pass by but I guess he is an exception. There's something about him that just pops the word "curious " in me.
As he broke off his Stare from me he gave an all around look around the whole table and said something to the Principal in a small voice.
"MS. Swan, would you please exchange your seat with Mr. Hobbins" the principal suddenly said out of nowhere. Which caught me off guard and made all eyes turn to me as I just sat there like a dead possum.
"What? Why , what's with the seat change. And that to Mr. Hobbins seat is beside the executive.
