(Micheal's pov)
Relief washed over me as soon as I saw her. And my body reacted before my mind could.
She's safe. She's alright. How can someone be so important with just a glance?
"Lilith, you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" I said ignoring all those curious eyes around us.
They might misunderstand us now. But who cares? It will be true sooner or later.
We all headed to the ambulance for a check up. She has some heat burn on her wrist. But thankfully it's not serious enough for her and all others to be hospitalized.
The school will be closed tomorrow for the investigation of the fire. And those who were in the fire will get a week for rest. The children are traumatized.
After the check up I directed her to my car to drop her off at her home. She kept silent the whole time. And I was anxious enough to notice the stares around us.
But she kept her cool and stayed silent all along. She surely didn't want to create a scene. But she sure is mad at me. I should have thought of her reputation at school.
"Mr. Aleksei? "
"Micheal.."
"There's no need for informal speech between boss and employee, " she said with certainty.
"There will never be a relationship between a boss and an employee between us," she said with confidence.
"Call me Micheal , Lilith."
"_" Lilith.
"What do you want? Micheal "
Damn! She just called my name. I just shot a bow in the air. But I never thought she would actually call my name.
I covered my mouth on the pretense of holding my chin. I just can't stop forming the too satisfied smirk on my face.
Then I looked at her as I felt her gaze on me. She hardly spares me any glance. But she's looking at me quite often today.
And that's when I realized. I Don't have my mask on. I didn't even feel the need for it the whole time she is with me.
So, You like my face, huh?
"You know what I want. I told you the last time we met, loud and clear." She looked at me with an 'unbelievable' look on her face.
"But it was improper of me. I should have approached you like a gentleman. I left a bad impression "
I said to her as she kept listening to me silently with a silly look on her face.
'She's cute' I thought to myself.
"So why don't we have a meet and greet after you recover yourself."
"Why Should I trust you?" She said with clearance. And it caught me off guard for a second.
My tough girl.
"Then don't, Lilith."
"_" Lilith.
"Trust your gut. Meet me the day after tomorrow. I will be at the park you mentioned last time at lunch time. Let's have lunch together"
"I will be waiting for you" I said to her as I got out of the car to help her get off.
I dropped her off at home and left with all the nervousness breaking down on me.
I am tired, emotionally. The possibility of losing her really got me harder than I thought.
I really hope we can make a decision that is better for both of us.
And I can make her happy. I'm sure of it. Only if she gives us a chance.
(Lilith's pov)
I stood on the porch for a good second to get my thoughts arranged. My Family is already worried enough.
I hardly stopped them from rushing to school once they got the news of the fire. Thankfully I talked with them over the phone to calm them.
"Lilith, honey. What are you standing here for? Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"
I heard these words before today. With the same concern and anxiousness.
"I am alright mom. Look, perfectly fine." I gave a twirl to let her be sure.
"Sis, we were so worried. Lily cried the whole time." Murphy said with a worried look. And Lily looks completely messed up. Her eyes puffed like popcorn.
"I am completely fine everyone. All of us got out on time." I said to calm them when I suddenly noticed a whole messed up kitchen behind them.
"Murphy, what are you guys up to in the kitchen? It seems like there was an earthquake here." I said frowning as I made my way to the kitchen.
Then Murphy followed me to the kitchen as she explained. "Well we were making a surprise and celebration dinner when we suddenly got to know about the fire. And somehow everything messed."
I squinted with confusion. What's the celebration dinner for? We don't have our birthday or anything special. What could it be?
"I got the International scholarship Sis."
And that's when it hit me. Murphy applied for a scholarship program to L City. She always wanted to go to the prestigious L city University.
"Congratulations, you worked really hard for this" I hugged her with pride and love.
We all got into the kitchen to prepare our celebration dinner. After dinner Murphy helped me to wash the dishes and headed for bed.
I also took a shower and went to the porch with a drink. I sat down on the porch bench as I took small sips of the beer. It cleared my throat down my stomach. But it couldn't clear the worries I have for my family.
I am really happy for Murphy. She is such a smart kid. But because mom is always sick and I'm never around she has become a woman in our house. She takes care of mom's medication, Lily and the household.
At first Murphy was not convinced about the scholarship program because she was worried. But I urged her to take the exam saying I can send her and mom with her too for treatment.
Should I sell this place? I can just stay at a small studio. But mom won't agree. This is the house both my mom and he (my father) built.
I'm really worried. I have savings but not enough. I need a bit more time. But time doesn't wait at your convenience, does it?
