Chapter 12 - "At Kazuki's parents' house!

**In the Living Room**

Rin was sitting on the living room sofa while Kazuki had gone up to the second floor, heading to his room.

"Thank you for bringing the water from the kitchen, Kazuki's mother," Rin said politely.

"By the way, Rin-chan, what happened to Kazuki's hair and eyes? His face looks colder now," Kazuki's mother asked, looking at Rin with curiosity.

"Eh...," Rin hesitated to answer. However, after a moment, she finally said, "I don't know about that. He suddenly changed after waking up. His hair and eyes just became like this."

Kazuki's mother didn't seem surprised by Rin's answer. "By the way, Rin-chan, you also took the same medicine as Kazu-kun, right?"

"Hah?!?" Rin looked very surprised, wondering when Kazuki's mother found out that she also took the same medicine as Kazuki. "Did Kazuki tell you?" she thought.

"Unfortunately, you probably think Kazu-kun told me, but sadly it wasn't him; it was Fujita," Kazuki's mother replied with a smile on her face. "If I ask Kazu-kun, he probably won't answer anything."

"That old man," Rin muttered in her heart, feeling annoyed.

On the table, there was a family photo of Kazuki. Rin saw little Kazuki standing in front of his mother. *So, he has had a flat face since he was little,* Rin thought to herself.

"Oh, Rin-chan, do you want to see pictures of Kazu-kun when he was little?" Kazuki's mother asked, noticing Rin's gaze at the images.

"Hah?! I don't really..." However, before Rin could finish her sentence, Kazuki's mother had already gone up to the second floor to get Kazuki's childhood pictures. A moment later, she returned and sat next to Rin.

Kazuki's mother showed Rin the pictures of Kazuki when he was little, one by one. "This is a picture of Kazu-kun at birth. You know, he was very calm. He never cried, which is very strange for a baby."

Rin could only stare at the photo in silence. "And this is a picture of him when he started elementary school," Kazuki's mother continued, showing a picture of Kazuki standing in front of the school with a flat expression.

"And this is a picture of Kazu-kun at 15 years old, and this is after he entered high school. As usual, Kazuki's face hasn't changed at all in these pictures."

"You must be wondering why there's not a single picture of Kazu-kun smiling here. There are a few things you need to know about Kazu-kun. Since birth, he has been different from regular babies; regular babies will cry if their parents are not near, like his younger sibling. But Kazu-kun is not like that; he seems to be used to everything around him."

"At first, I was very worried, but over time I got used to it. No matter how strange he is, he is still my child."

Rin just listened in silence. *Such a strange person, huh?* she thought.

Suddenly, a cat came and sat on Rin's lap. "Hah?! Oh, Cica!" Kazuki's mother recognized the cat. "Akira brought her to this house. She was very small before, but now she's quite big."

Rin gently petted the cat. "It seems you really like cats, huh?" Kazuki's mother asked.

"Hah! That's because I used to have a cat, but she has passed away," Rin replied.

"You can play with her anytime here. Hah! Why don't you just stay here tonight?" Kazuki's mother offered.

"Hah!?! No, no! I didn't bring anything here! If you're talking about clothes, you can wear the clothes I had when I was in high school."

"What about Kazuki? He's only here to pick up his things from this house."

"You don't need to worry about that; I will make sure he stays here tonight," Kazuki's mother said, and Rin could not refuse the offer. "Alright," she replied.

"Wow! It's almost 6 PM. I need to cook dinner now. Do you want to help, Rin-chan?" Kazuki's mother asked.

"Eh? I..."

"Can't you cook?"

"No, no! I can cook," Rin answered, a bit awkwardly.

"Then let's cook dinner before Akira and his father come home," Kazuki's mother suggested, and they both went to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, in Kazuki's room, he was reading a novel he had bought a long time ago but hadn't had a chance to read. Without realizing it, time passed quickly, and it was already 7 PM. "Hah? I've been reading too much! I have to go home," Kazuki thought.

As Kazuki came down from the second floor, he saw his mother and Rin cooking in the kitchen. An uneasy feeling crept into his heart. "Mom, I want to go home now," he said.

Kazuki's mother turned to look at him. "Oh, on the contrary, you should stay here today."

"Hah! Why should I stay here?!"

"Wow, you're being very naughty in front of your mother now," his mother pinched Kazuki's cheek. "From the beginning, this is your home, you know."

Seeing his mother's face, Kazuki could only surrender. He knew that whatever he said to his mother, she would not let him go home.

An hour passed, and voices were heard in the living room. "We're home!" His father and Akira just arrived.

"Oh, you both are back?" Kazuki's mother asked.

Akira looked around and was surprised to see Rin. "Wow, Sister Rin is here!" Akira immediately hugged Rin, who was sitting at the dining table.

"Sister Rin, are you going to stay here tonight?" he asked.

"More or less," Rin replied.

"Wow..."

"Okay, okay, go change your clothes first. You just came back from school; you must smell."

"Hey, mom, that's mean! Even though I just got back, I don't smell at all," Akira protested.

"Yeah, yeah, just go change your clothes," Kazuki's mother replied.

"Okay," Akira answered, then went up to the second floor to change.

After changing, Akira came down to eat. After they finished eating, they prepared to sleep. However, something unexpected happened in Kazuki's room.

"By the way, Rin, why do you want to sleep in my room?" he asked curiously.

"Because I want to."

They were in a unique situation. In this house, there were four rooms: his parents' room, his sister's room, and his own room.

"Why don't you sleep in my sister's room? I think she would be happy," Kazuki suggested.

"I've slept with her twice. I don't know why, but tonight I want to sleep with you."

*Is this girl stupid or what?* Kazuki thought. "It's up to you."

After that, they both lay down on the bed. Kazuki's bed was quite large, so two people could sleep on it. Kazuki's face was facing forward, while Rin had her back to him.

"Don't you fear that I will do something to you?" Kazuki asked.

"I don't think you would dare to do that. Actually, I want to get to know you better."

"Get to know me better? You won't get anything by doing something stupid like that."

Suddenly, Rin turned Kazuki to face her. "Actually, I know you fought against one of those people and you also killed one of them, right?!"

"I don't know, I can't remember anything from there," Kazuki replied, avoiding Rin's gaze.

"Hey, stop doing dangerous things! The people in this house care about you very much. You know, they would be very sad if you died because of them."

"I don't want the people in this house to feel the same sadness as I do, losing all my family," Rin replied softly.

Kazuki turned to face Rin and looked into her eyes. He saw profound sadness in Rin's gaze, as if she couldn't forget her past.

Gently, Kazuki pulled Rin into his embrace. "You don't need to think about me and my family. I can protect them. Live your life now."

Rin just remained silent in his arms.

A while later, Rin fell asleep in Kazuki's embrace, with a slight smile on her face. "Stupid girl," Kazuki whispered in his heart before he also fell asleep.
