Chapter 5 - Astonishing meeting

"What do you think I can make in a single night?" With a little spin of his glass, the man gave her a playful look. "What happens if nobody asks to see me?"

You're kinda cute. If you hustle, you might be the most popular male escort on Sultry Night.

Miriam looked him over for a beat and then at his crotch.

Ordinary escorts reportedly receive four to five thousand dollars for each round of work and eight to ten thousand dollars for overnight shifts. You can make at least $10,000 a night, correct?"

"'So all I gotta do is give you $5,000 every night?' The man's sneer grew wider. 'You a cheap hoe, ain't you?'

"Obviously not!" Miriam shot back in a hurry. "Anyway, not less than 5,000! Not less than five thousand every night! How much trouble you have to go through every to night to compensate me for the mistake you made that night? You think I am willing to take back money from someone who was unwilling? No way!"

"Money is not an issue," the man replied messily.

Though indistinct but he asked curiously, "How you know?"

through the tattoo of a wolf's head on your hip. I won't fail you! For a moment Miriam thought he might say otherwise.

"You really don't know what I look like," the man said, his face contracting with some private irony.

"Obviously!" Miriam replied, annoyed. "I was so drunk that night I couldn't even see what you looked like."

The man drank some wine with a smile.

"Don't even think about it. I'll report you to the manager. "Oh, I heard you're a transvestite too," Miriam threatened. You'll get fired for sure if they know.

The man squinted angrily and clenched his fists. "Transgender?"

Miriam scowled. "You are afraid?"

She plunged one hand into her shoulder bag and extracted a pen, with which she swiftly wrote a brief contract.

I suppose, I've made myself very clear here. I want 3 months half of your daily salary starting today and give me your thumbprint and signature here. It's done!" She inserted a pen into his hand.

"Am I the only gypsy you'ave?" The man's eyebrow shot up, burning holes into the worn ink on the paper. "You 'ave a pile 'o these at 'ome, d'yeh not?"

"You think I'm mad? You really think I'm that raving mad? Sleeping with yeh was an accident. An' you're me first an' last, man!" Miriam finally exploded.

Her cheeks turned scarlet with embarrassment when she realized what she had said.

The man smiled. He didn't speak. Just signed the document. All that was left of his signature was an illegible scribble at the bottom of the page.

That was not enough for Miriam, so she pulled his hand over to her. She bit his thumb hard and quickly stamped his finger on the contract when a drop of blood began to form.

"Ha! Now it's official," Miriam said proudly. "You can't go back on your word now. Okay, I'll take your daily wage."

"I haven't started on my project tonight."

He pulled her to him, his arm encircling her slim waist. He sighed, and against her cheek, brushed the kisses there softly with his mouth. "How about being my first customer today? I'll give you 50% off."

"Don't you dare!" Pushing him away, Miriam wrenched herself out of his grasp. "Stay away from me. Your part now is to get cracking and earn your keep!"

"You mean it, I can sell my body?" The man looked straight into her eyes.

"You are only my money maker. Why wouldn't I be willing?" Miriam pulled out her phone. "Let's trade numbers so we can stay in touch."

He took the phone and punched in his number, but she yanked it back before he could hand it over as "Gigolo In Debt."

When he noticed, his brows furrowed.

"I'll forward my account over to you. Did you make sure to get your paycheck in by 12 a.m. every day?," remembered Miriam as she frantically tapped at her phone.

Ding! The man got a text.

The account number she had given him was in the text when he opened it up.

He grinned.

This is fascinating!"

Miriam's phone began ringing right then.

When she answered it and found out it was Nigel, she shouted "Stop pushing me" in fury. I can't afford to pay for it. I don't want to work there anymore prettie. Will that work?

She quickly hung up the phone with anger making her face red.

She was so depressed after losing her new job that she fell onto the sofa. She saw the man looking into a wine glass and she picked it up and drank most of it in one go.

``It's all your fault.'' Miriam said, burping. ``I lost my job last week because of you! It wasn't easy getting that other one. I can't believe he did that to me.''

"'Me?" the man asked. "Were you set up by someone at Evergreen Enterprises?'

You'll never guess. Miriam was about to hang up on him when she figured it out. "'Well, could you make this payment for a few hundred thousand?'"

Indeed!

Great!

The man was told to pay it by Miriam, an amount more than one hundred and eighty-three thousand. It was a cost she couldn't afford and it was killing her inside but what could she do? She needed the money and she still had two children to feed.

"Thanks a lot. I'll deduct that from your wage."

She told that in evening to her colleagues. "Invoice I've paid, did you have fun today?

"Yes fun it was, thanks Miriam"- coworkers she had cheered.

Did you really pay the whole amount? I have heard that there are more than 80,000 of them! A coworker asked incredulously.

Yes, the price was ridiculously high. I had to charge it all on my credit cards. I'm going to be eating bread for the next few months. Miriam laughed bitterly. "But if you enjoyed yourself tonight, then it was worth it!"

"All right, so..." A couple of other colleagues frowned at Nigel, feeling sorry for her.

"Miriam is being modest. She can't even buy a purse with the money. She couldn't have maxed out her cards." Nigel chuckled. "But seriously, thanks guys. Next time, it's on me."

Miriam was outraged by the filth's vulgar display, but she couldn't say anything because she needed the job. She mentally checked out her coworkers, mentally listing over him.

"Miriam I drove here. Let me give you a ride home"

It's okay. I can get a cab. But thanks.'

Miriam found the man missing from the bar when she got out of the private room. He must be with some client now.

I suppose he just can't sit stable?

She texted him, "I'm on my way right now." Put in the work and get paid more. If you pay it off faster you will be out of debt faster.

Reginald's mouth tilted upwards at the sight of her message in the room. What a silly, but cute, woman!

"Pardus has arrived, Mr. Deveraux." His bodyguard Ambrose entered and informed. "I sent someone to tail him as soon as I received this." We'll see who he contacts.

"Remember not to warn him."

"I understand it!"

Miriam didn't calm down when she didn't hear back from him. Is he trying to take it back?

I'm not far away. I'll go back and track him down if he really wants to do it. She dialed the number at once.

Reginald's phone rang just as he was about to leave. He couldn't help but smile when he saw who it was. "Hey?"

"Why you ain't text me back? You trying to duck and dodge? Miriam said.

"I am busy trying to make some money, so that I could pay off my debt too," Reginald committed himself to his role.
