With excitement pouring in their veins, the three women rushed towards Reginald.
Reginald did not answer, but when he bowed his head all three of them fell on the floor at once. The noise they made was so great that it sounded to the others as though the castle were tumbling down about their ears.
Indeed it shook with their weight, and would have cracked its sides if it had not been very strong.
"Are you alright, Mr. Deveraux?" the black-clad bodyguard said cautiously as he tentatively entered the room.
"Clean this." Reginald stepped on the coffee table on his way out so as not to trail dirt from the three women into his socks.
Miriam took a cab when she left Sultry Night.
She texted Gigolo In Debt a sorry-not-sorry SMS on her way home. You good?
No one replied.
She sent another message. Just leave if you really can't stand them anymore. Please don't be stupid and deal with it!
No response.
Miriam phoned him and no one picked up.
Now she was even more on-edge. Bitch. What if that person had a traumatic experience?
Perhaps he's with a client and wants to appear professional!
Miriam's chest constricted slightly at the thought, for reasons unknown.
After all, he was her first boyfriend. She thought it pretty terrible that he had now found himself in this predicament.
But then again, this was his job. It was just today that she happened to come across those girls. If she hadn't come across them, he would still be serving rich women.
Forget it.I did not get to where I am by being a wimp. Better to concentrate on becoming a dutiful creditor!
The next day Miriam arrived late at the office, she had made sure her triplets were safely on the school bus before leaving.
She raced nonstop, her heels in hand. A Rolls-Royce Phantom suddenly sped toward her from the right, pulling into the building's entrance with no intention of braking. Miriam shrieked, falling to the pavement; there hadn't been enough time to escape its path.
But it missed her by inches, coming to a dead stop instead.
If Miriam had taken one more step, she would have met God or the Devil.
She was so scared that her heart felt like it was about to leap out of her throat, and yet the people in the car seemed totally un-phased.
When the security guard reached down to help Miriam to her feet, she was shocked and also told to stop being a psycho. You almost got hit by his car.
"It's obvious they were the ones who almost hit me!"
Miriam snapped her head around to see who was inside.
With almost no remorse the bodyguards showed off their poker faces. Right at the back Reginald was gazing at Miriam, with a gaze that was cold and blank.
Miriam felt the breath knocked out of her. What was happening?
Here, for sure, I'm the one being victimized by it!
With a flick of his hand, Reginald rocketed the Rolls-Royce Phantom by Miriam, narrowly avoiding a collision.
Miriam was incensed. She had no choice but to clutch her stinging backside and sprained wrists, and limp into the building.
She was more confused than ever in the elevator as she recalled the look in Reginald's eyes a moment before. I never did anything to the Devil, when was it?
I've been a good worker ever since I started with the company. None of what I did was wrong.
She had only ever touched him once, when he accidentally bumped into her and she'd ended up getting spaghetti all over Nigel's face.
She was sure that he had done it on purpose to embarrass Nigel.
His driver had almost run over her right now, she had fallen and had bruises. He had looked at her with a scared expression but he hadn't even shouted or made a fuss.
How strange!
Perhaps he was just born a brooding demon and there wasn't any other reasonable explanation!
With that in mind, Miriam felt much better. She could put up with a few of quirks. She didn't have to worry about pissing off the devil, because if she did her life would turn into hell on earth.
She didn't know it was about to get worse for her.
Miriam hadn't even settled into her seat at desk when Roy the manager of administration on level 13 tore a strip off her. "You have not been here two minutes, and you come in late?" he angered. "Who do you think you are? The queen?"
"It is me..."
"The President had to literally go department by department to check attendance" तू ही तो था, पड़ने पर किए गये सबके इंसेंटिव्स काट दिए इस Quarter के।।"
"I apologize, Mr. Young. I w
"What? The swimming pool is not cleaned? How come? ," Miriam couldn't believe her ear.
"Why do you think so?" Roy's face turned black. "That's the way to punish people here. Or you want your salary being deducted instead?"
No. No no no no. That's not what I want. Miriam surrendered the moment she heard about the salary reduction. 'I'll go and clean the pool,' she said.
There was a yacht-like infinity pool on the roof, on level 68. The pool reflected the sky's blue. So to swim there would be like swimming through a soft fluff of cloud in the sky known as Hargrave clouds.
Clearly, this is for the Devils to use!
There wasn't a speck of dust anywhere. You could use the tiles as a looking-glass. Miriam couldn't understand why she'd been asked to clean it.
She would comply right away, as soon as the three hours of work were paid in. The pool water was filled in. The floor had been washed clean.
Miriam was about to finish packing and go downstairs. She was scared half to death when she turned and saw a man sitting in an ivory recliner. "How long have you been here, Mr. Deveraux?"
