DAISY POV
I gulped and then cleared my throat before replying to him.
"I came to apologize to you."
"I see, and what are you apologizing for?" he asked as he leaned against the desk.
"for wrongfully accusing you and saying those hurtful and insulting words to you."
"I see, so why do you suddenly regret saying all those things to me? What changed?"
"I realized I was wrong and I am sorry. I shouldn't have accused you of manipulating the kids. That was wrong of me. All you did was to be nice to the kids, and I blew things out of proportion."
"It's okay, I don't hold any grudges against you. It hurt me that you would believe such things about me."
"I am sorry Silvan. It's not an excuse but my experience with Declan has made me guarded and very protective of the kids. Once again, I am sorry."
"It's okay Daisy, I forgive you."
"Thank you." I pass him the gift bag.
He takes it from me with a bemused expression.
"What is this?"
"A little gift to show how sorry I am."
"You didn't need to do this Daisy, I would have forgiven you either way"
"I know but I wanted to."
He brings out the perfume.
"Wow! This is my favorite brand. How did you know?" he asked me.
"I just guessed." I made a mental note to thank Zara for her good choice.
"So how are the kids?"
"They are fine, they asked about you the other day. Maybe you could come see them one of these days."
"I will be sure to do that."
My phone rang, I looked at the caller ID, it was Stefan.
"Please, let me take this call," I told him.
"no problem, go ahead," he told me.
I answered the call.
"Hey, what's up? Have you seen Silvan?"
"Yes, I have seen him. Thanks, Stefan." I told her.
"You are welcome. Now can you tell me who is Uncle Declan that my niece speaks so fondly of?"
My heart skipped a beat.
"Well, she happened to see him and have a conversation with him when he came to the house the other day."
"And you didn't tell me this?"
"It skipped my mind."
"So what was his reaction?"
"He still thinks I cheated on him."
"He didn't see Rigel?"
"No, just Rhea."
"Okay, so he was nice to her? Because she seems very fond of him?"
"Yes he was nice to her, even got her interested in fighting. I was very surprised about it as well."
"Anyways, I am about to register her now; Rigel isn't interested in fighting, though, so I will be registering only Rhea."
"Thanks, Stefan."
"you are welcome. Don't keep important things like this from me anymore."
"Okay Stefan, I won't."
"Bye, say hi to Silvan for me."
"I will, bye."
I end the call.
"Stefan says hi," I tell him.
"Oh! Any problem?" he asked.
"Nothing, he just registered Rhea at a fighting school."
"Fighting school?"
"Yes, she seems interested in fighting now. And I thought it was good to get her interested in something she liked."
"That's a really good idea." he commended me.
"Thanks."
"So do you want to grab lunch? There is this wonderful restaurant close to the office."
"I would like that."
"okay let's go."
We leave his office together and ride the elevator down.
There was already a new receptionist at the desk and the security who had harassed me was nowhere to be seen.
I refused to feel guilty about it. They laid their bed and so they must lay on it.
We went to the restaurant and ordered lunch and started eating.
"So how have you been?" he asked.
"Okay, working, taking care of the kids. There hasn't been much to do in my life."
"What about Declan? Has he disturbed you recently?"
I shook my head. "We ended the partnership so we don't have anything to do with each other anymore."
"And how do you feel about that?"
"A bit sad, a little regretful that I wasted my youth with him. But thankfully, it's over, and I can move on with my life."
"And do you plan on moving forward with love? Give love another chance?"
"I don't know, maybe," I reply looking down.
"Daisy, I have always liked you, I will be honest with you. Ever since I knew about you, I have liked you. If you are willing to give me a chance, I will prove to you how much I like you and make you happy."
"Really?" I had suspicions about his feelings before but now that he had boldly announced it.
I had no idea how I was supposed to act.
It was awkward. Silvan was handsome and there was a high probability he would treat me well.
I didn't feel a spark though.
When I had met Declan, the spark had been instant and roaring.
But with Silvan, I felt nothing.
"Yes Daisy, I like you. So will you give me a chance?" he asked.
I was tongue-tied and didn't know what to say. I hated to be put on the spot like this.
My phone rang, and I almost cried in relief as I picked up the call. I had never been so happy to take a call.
"Yes, Stefan."
"I am done with the registration. Get Rhea. some exercising clothes and a judo uniform." he told me.
"Okay, thanks for the help."
"You are welcome, sis."
I end the call and I find Silvan staring intently at me.
"Daisy, I understand if you are feeling awkward about what I just told you. You are not under any pressure to answer me."
I rubbed my sweaty hands against my dress.
"It's just that I need time to think about it."
"That's okay. But can we be friends while you think about it?"
"Sure Silvan, we can be friends."
He held out his hand,
"friends?"
I shake his hand.
"Friends."
