Chapter 1 - Two

Daisy's POV

W…what…" I finally struggled to get out, my mind in a thousand places all at once.

"You are just a bitch, Daisy."

"A whore and a bitch that I have treated like some treasure for the last five years."

His words are flat and emotionless and when I meet his blue eyes again, my heart is pounding against my chest.

"Something is wrong somewhere, Declan."

How could he be sterile when the doctor confirmed that I was pregnant?

His brows raised as he closed the space between us and grabbed my arms tightly.

The dangerous look in his eyes sends my mind into overdrive and I hurriedly think of something.

"L..Le…Let's do another test." I finally managed to let out despite the fear that was churning in my stomach.

"Oh, you want another chance at manipulating me?"

"So you can sleep with the doctors and get them to lie to me?"

"Declan, you have to trust me…"

"Trust? Three hospital have confirmed that I'm sterile and won't be able to father a child."

"You want me to trust you?"

I nodded frantically.

Something was happening here and even though I couldn't figure it out, I just needed him to give me some time.

"Kill the bastard, Daisy."

My eyes widened and I instinctively wrap my arms around my stomach.

There was no way that I would…

Declan chucked and I looked up to meet his cold glare.

"Get out, Daisy. It's over between us."

"Take your bastard to the father, I won't be raising another man's child."

I grasp tight at his hands.

"Declan, you have to believe me."

Yes, I sounded desperate and my voice was already hoarse from crying but yes, I was desperate already.

Declan was my everything.

He was the reason why I had walked away from everything.

This was supposed to be our day.

Where had things gone wrong?

Declan yanked my hands away, not caring that I fell to the floor with a plop.

"I would have the divorce papers sent to your mail. Sign it and send the scanned copy back to me."

The universe has to be playing a trick on me.

That's all I think as I watch Declan walk back into the house and lock the door behind him.

Divorce papers?

How could it be coming to an end?

There's no way this real.

My hand goes to my still flat stomach one more time and another stream of tears flow down my eyes.

How could I have been so wrong?

I don't know how long I remain sitting outside the house until the estate security walks up to me.

"Mrs Ellington, Mr Ellington has requested that we escort you out of the estate."

My fingers trembled and I stood up while nodding at Richard.

A glance at my watch and I realize that it was midnight already.

Midnight with no where to go.

Well, there was one place.

Luckily for me, Sacremento didn't sleep early but by the time the cab dropped me in front of that familiar apartment, my heart break at the dark windows.

Regardless, I summon the courage to knock, it had been a while since we had talked but Lily hasn't mentioned moving away from here.

I knock one more time and wrap my arms around myself as the night breeze gets stronger.

After more than ten minutes of standing in front of her door, I finally turned around.

It was way past midnight, I couldn't bear the thought of calling home.

No, not like this.

I was getting desperate but if I called home now, Declan would probably not make it till morning.

There was supposed to be an Helios hotel somewhere around here right?

However, as I turned around the corner, a wave of nausea took over and I bent down while searching for any support.

It was the wrong move as everything around me swirled and I wobbled around in my shoes.

No… I couldn't lose consciousness.

My baby.

I have to fight.

Just as my knees bent, my entire body was swept up and strong arms wrapped around me.

"You should come back home," the voice said and as the warmth wrapped around me, the world went dark.
