Chapter 19 - Twenty

DAISY POV

My mom's face looked unyielding, she wanted to hear absolutely nothing about Declan.

"But mom….." I tried to protest.

"No, absolutely no, you are not calling that despicable man for a thing after all he has put you through" she replied.

"But mom, we need him," I protested.

"No, we don't, we don't need him Daisy" my mom said.

I ignored her and brought out my phone to call Declan. This was my child's life we were talking about, I wasn't going to let pride make her lose her life.

"Daisy, don't call him," my mom warned. I ignored her and made the call.

Just before the call could connect, the door opened and Axel comes in with two nurses and a box. Jamie is with him as well.

I hurriedly hung up the call.

"The blood is here" he announced.

The nurses usher us out of the room as the doctors come in to attend to Rhea.

As soon as we are outside, I hug Axel and cling to him tightly.

"Thank you so much Axel."

"It's okay, my love, don't worry, I knew you contemplated calling him, you don't have to worry about him, I will never let that bastard get close to the twins" he assures me.

I am a little startled and worried about how cold and dark his voice is. But I push away my worry for the time being.

We sit down on the chairs outside the room and wait for the doctors to be through.

Axel has his arm wrapped tightly around me. It gives me reassurance that he is here with me and that I am not alone.

My elder brother Axel has always been protective of me from an early age.

Ever since I could remember, he had always been there for me and making sure I never had a hard time.

My mind flashed back to years ago when I had been in high school.

I was walking home from school when two boys had accosted me.

My entire family had been against me going home on my own.

They had all insisted I was to be picked up by the driver and security.

I had objected to this arrangement because I didn't see the need for all that when I lived only five minutes away from the school.

Plus, nobody knew I was part of our family due to the secrecy.

I didn't see the need to be afraid of anything.

Anyways this two boys were my bullies. They constantly bullied me in school and sometimes they would stop me while I was going home to bully me more.

I hadn't said anything at home because I didn't want my family to overreact which I knew they were bound to do.

I had turned down the relationship proposal of one to the boys which had angered them, coupled with the fact that I was the youngest in the class and was also a nerd.

I was practically a target of bullying in school. Although none of the rest bullies were as vicious as this two boys.

Even my boyfriend was afraid to be seen in public with me due to the bullying.

I had endured everything in silence knowing everything would be over once I graduated out of high school.

"Please let me through" I had told the boys as they blocked my way.

"Or what? What will you do, little nerd" one of them had said as he stepped towards me.

I stepped back in fear, the other one stepped forward too.

"what are you going to do?" they had asked with a vicious sneer.

I had closed my eyes, covering my body with my hands, when I felt a force and groaned.

I opened my eyes and saw the boys on the ground, Axel was beating the hell out of them. The both of them weren't a match for Axel at all.

In no time, they were on the ground groaning in pain. Axel still continued to beat them.

I had to beg him to let them go.

He warned them never to come close to me again or that would be the end of their lives.

He took me home and scolded me for keeping the bullying a secret.

It turned out, my family had men who secretly followed me around and they had alerted Stefan about the bullying.

My family had scolded me and from that day, I had to be dropped off and picked up at school.

News about the beating had spread in school, coupled with the fact that I was now picked up by a security detail, people stayed away from me and nobody bothered me anymore in school.

The downside was it also scared off my boyfriend who broke up with me.

I didn't have a date to prom and Axel had ended up going with me.

The bullies had wet themselves out of fear when they saw Axel was my escort.

I brought my mind back to the present and turned to look at my brother.

His jaw was clenched in worry, I knew he was worried about Rhea. We all were.

I looked at my family, they were here with me, worried about my daughter.

I knew at the end of the day, I could always depend on my family to be there for me.

They might be overprotective and over react to things but I could always count on them. Especially my brothers.

I rested my head on Axel's shoulder. He patted my hands softly as we all waited for the doctors to come out.

After what seemed like an eternity, the doctors finally came out.

We stood up immediately and crowded around them.

"She is okay, she just needs rest. We have stabilised her". The doctor in charge informs us.

We all breathed in relief.

"Thank you Doctors" we tell them.

"You are welcome"

We entered the room and I went to sit by Rhea. She looked way better now and no longer looked like she was knocking at death's door.

I kissed her little hand and sat patiently by her side waiting for her to wake up.
