Chapter 13 - The Trials Begins

After receiving the letter from the head principal of the academy, Ryan and Ren prepared themselves for the battle that awaited them.

It finally came; two days later Ryan and Ren headed over to the academy.

Ryan stood in front of the academy's gate totally intimidated by the size of it. It was big enough to fit half the entire city in it.

This was the first time Ryan had seen the academy face to face for himself. He maintained his calm composure and proceeded into the building walking elegantly.

They both got to the head principal's office. It was a well tidied one with neatly arranged files on the desk.

Ryan looked around impressed by how neat his office was. At the other end of the table sat a middle aged man who wore a neatly packed set of attire; a white shirt, brown pants and a Silver robe that radiated his elegance.

Ryan had previously left Ren when they separated. He was now on his own.

Silence drifted in the air for some minutes before the man finally spoke up, breaking the tension between them.

"Ryan Carter, I'd say welcome, but given our past history, I'd preferably not see you" the man said as he closed a book before him, adjusting his posture.

Ryan had seen this coming from the beginning. He knew that tho he was accepted back into the academy 'on a condition' he was still an enemy to some of the students here.

Ryan stood before him, his face devoid of any emotion as he stared into the man's eyes.

The principal on the other hand felt an overwhelming amount of aura Ryan was emitting. Feeling a bit intimidated by his presence, he moved onto business.

"So i heard that you wish to renroll back in the academy?" The principal asked still showing a bit of disgust in his tone.

"Yes" Ryan responded in a neutral tone, his face still showing no signs of emotion.

"So you are aware the requirements needed?" The principal said.

"Yes l am" Ryan responded.

At that moment the principal brought out a dark orb, that seemed to be from ancient times.

Ryan stole a glance at the orb and back at the principal.

"This is a power checking orb, it's used to check the power levels of each student" the principal said placing his hands on the orb with a slight grin on his face.

Ryan knew that it would be able to check his power level, he didn't want his true power to be revealed. He told his system to lower the range of his powers.

"Now place your hand on the orb" the principal said.

Ryan immediately put his hand on it as it shone bright red color, revealing his power at the lowest level.

'Just as i thought, he's weak!' The principal said inwardly seeing the color the orb shone, he let out a devilish grin.

"Well i guess you're a D rank Adventurer" the said as he held a mischievous smile.

"Really, i wasn't expecting it to be that high" Ryan said as he faked a smile.

After filling in some details, Ryan was lead to the waiting arena, where he saw a large number of participants waiting for the Trials to begin.

Ryan walked through the arena as he could feel the cold stares he was receiving. He heaved a sigh as he continued to walk avoiding their cold gazes towards him.

As the further into the crowd, he met a familar face.

"Gabrielle!!" He called out to a girl in the crowd.

Gabrielle was his childhood friend, a girl who he admires so much. Tho Gabrielle was older than him with four years, they still remained that close bond friendship. She had gotten into the academy before Ryan did. She was beautiful woman who had the hearts of every man she came across. Her very presence was enough to start fights within people.

Gabrielle turned around to see who called her, the moment she saw Ryan how mood changed from curious to a cold look. She quickly turned around wanting to avoid him.

Ryan continued to call her name as his voice echoed through the crowd until it got lower and lower till even him could not hear his own voice.

Ryan knew why she was avoiding him. It was the same reason everyone was giving him cold stares.

Ryan quickly came back to the reality that this wasn't his old world where he could do whatever he liked. Though he was reincarnated, the body he was in came with a lot of demands.

He quickly regained his composure as he walked away in the opposite direction from her. The fact that everyone was against him didn't seem to bother him much as he was only focused on his own goals. He stood at the center of the arena as he awaited the beginning of the trials.

A few minutes later a mechanical voice was heard through out the whole arena.

"Welcome participants to your deaths" the mechanical voice said in a cold tone.

"You all will be given a chance to enroll at the prestigious Adventurer Assassin Academy" the voice said, this time with a bit of humor in it's tone.

"You all will undergo several difficulties, foes and challenges for the next few days. Where there are bone crushing foes, flesh eating demons and deadly creatures waiting to devour your soul. If any of you are not ready to die please step out of the arena before transportation commences" the voice said.

After the hearing the 'encouraging' speech given by the voice, people started to have doubts of taking the test, most of them were frightened by just thinking of the powerful foes and obstacles that awaited them.

Ryan on the other hand was totally in unfazed by this speech as his face remained devoid of any emotion.

"Well since no one left, transportation will now commence, stay alive!!" The voice said.

With this, hundreds of glowing lights began to envelop people as they were being transported to their Trials.

Ryan took a look at his hand as he noticed it being enveloped by light before completing vanishing into the air.

The Trials Begins.
