At the 9th month of her pregnancy, Elena gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Although the child was born healthy, Elena almost lost her life during the delivery.
All the doctors had given up all hope of saving her life, it was Clara, who used her light magic to the point of exhaustion to barely drag Elena back from the gates of hell.
Even then, Elena had completely lost sensation below her waist, making her a cripple for life.
Three days after, inside the hospital room…
Clara looked at Elena, who now appeared thin and pale as a ghost, with a sigh. "How do you feel now, kid?"
Elena looked at Clara with a smile. "Better."
Clara nodded and looked at the newborn child lying near Elena.
Unlike Elena, who had pure purple hair and eyes, although the kid only had a few hairs on his head, it was clear that he had a unique hair color, a mix between purple and black. In a sense, it was more beautiful and eye-catching than Elena's purple hair.
Also, the kid's eyes were a little different from Elena's. Elena had pure purple irises with deep purple pupils, but the child had a purple iris similar to Elena's, while his pupils were jet black.
If one didn't look closely, they appeared to have the same color of eyes; you had to look carefully into the kid's eyes to notice the difference in pupil color between the mother and child.
the child was staring at Clara with his cute purple eyes, as though he was also listening to the conversation going on in the room.
Clara playfully touched the kid's nose and said jokingly, "You really look like your mother, little devil."
Elena remained silent for some time. She then said to Clara gratefully, "Grandma told me that you are the one who saved my life. Although I don't have anything to give you to express my gratitude, my child and I will be grateful to you always."
Clara looked at Gracy, who was pretending to read something while sitting on a chair near Elena's bed, and snorted. She then smiled at Elena. "It's my duty as a doctor. You don't have to feel burdened about it. What name have you decided for this precious son of yours?"
"He will be called Elen. That way we, mother and son, will always be close to each other," Elena replied with a sweet smile.
"Well, that's a good name. Tell me, what's his second name?" Clara asked.
Elena looked at Clara awkwardly upon hearing this; she hadn't decided on a second name for her son yet. Usually, people in Celestia would either use their father's name or their family name as a second name, though it was not mandatory.
Elena herself only had a first name, with no family or father's name attached to it.
"That… he will be called Elen Draven, then," Elena thought about it and answered.
Usually, she should have given the child his father's family name or name as his second name, or simply settled for the first name only. But since Raven had not accepted her kid as his own, neither option was possible.
So after thinking about how she could not give her son the love, care, and recognition of his father, she decided to at least keep his father's name in his name, just like his first name Elen, being similar to her own.
"Elen Draven, that's a pretty powerful name. May the gods bless your child," Clara said while playing with the newborn baby near Elena.
Gracy also looked at Elena upon hearing the kid's name, but after seeing the smiling Elena, she decided not to comment on the name and resumed reading the book in her hand.
Gradually, time rolled on, and years passed one by one…
Although Elena was now crippled and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life, she decided not to live under the mercy of others and resumed being an artist at Memories Art Store under Gracy.
After 6 years, her precious little boy, Elen, had also grown up to be a healthy and lively kid. He was loved dearly by Gracy, Lillian, and Grace to the point that they would spoil him every day with sweets and snacks, not even allowing anyone to scold him.
There was once an event where Elen knocked over a freshly made painting and ruined it accidentally while running around. The customer who ordered the painting got angry and scolded the little boy harshly, making him cry.
Next, for what happened to that man, even Elena felt sorry for him. The seemingly old and kind-looking Gracy showed on that day what it meant to be a true high-level cultivator. That man was beaten up so badly that even recognizing his face was impossible.
The little boy was also pretty clever and would always cling to Gracy, sweetly calling her, "Grandma," making the old lady always smile like a fool.
One fine morning,
Elena was drawing a picture of a white unicorn while sitting in her wheelchair inside the store.
"Mom… I think I have a fever. My head is also hurting," the chubby little Elen came to Elena's side and said in a low voice.
Elena put down her brush and looked at her son speechlessly. "Don't try to pull any more tricks, Elly. Yesterday, you skipped school, telling me that your stomach was hurting, and after the school bus was gone, you were running around here and there like a squirrel."
"Go and get ready. There is no way I am allowing you to idle around today too."
The little boy rolled his beautiful purple eyes when he realized his plan had failed. Just then, he saw Gracy sitting at the counter of the shop, and a mischievous smile appeared on his face.
Gracy, who was dozing off at the counter, suddenly felt a shiver down her spine. When she looked, she saw Elen smiling at her like an innocent blooming flower. She was well aware of what that look meant.
Gracy waved her hands and hurriedly turned her head away. "Don't look at me. I am helpless in this matter. Your mother scolded me for letting you stay at home yesterday. So deal with things between you mother and son, yourself. Spare this old lady's life."
