Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Mornings Between Thoughts

The first light of the morning invaded Emily's room, passing through the curtains and softly illuminating her face. She woke up with a slight smile, and soon the previous night came to her mind, filling her with a pleasant warmth. Her heart raced as she remembered Matthew's goodbye hug, and she couldn't help but bite her lip, still feeling his presence by her side.

As she got ready for the day, everything seemed more vibrant, every detail of the room reflecting the glow she felt inside. After a hot shower, she chose a set of light clothes, something comfortable for the film set, but with a touch of elegance that was her personal trademark. As she delicately applied her makeup, Emily met her gaze in the mirror and, for a moment, laughed as she realized she was getting lost in her own thoughts about Matthew.

With a cup of coffee in her hands, she went to the balcony, looking at the city that was beginning to stir. His fingers drummed on the cup, and the memory of his smile passed through his mind like a breeze.

On the other side of the city, Matthew Lancaster woke up from a night equally restless with memories. The morning light bathed his room with a touch of gold, and he stretched, feeling a mix of tranquility and energy. He rolled over in bed and picked up his cell phone, almost automatically, checking Emily's latest messages.

A slow smile appeared as he thought of her, the sweetness of her smile and the way she looked at him at the party. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he felt like a boy back in high school, excited and restless. He shook his head to clear the thought and stood up, laughing at himself as he walked to the bathroom.

With the hot steam of the shower, he took the time to organize the day's tasks, but always with a memory of Emily popping up among his thoughts, distracting him. He knew he had a busy day ahead of him at Lancaster Corp, but he couldn't shake the idea that he might see her, even if only for a brief moment. After showering, he chose an impeccable suit, black with small gold details, a subtle but sophisticated touch that suited his style.

At the breakfast table, as he read some morning reports on his tablet, a new message from Emily flashed on the screen. He smiled when he saw her name.

"Good morning, Matthew! I hope your morning is as easy as mine. I can't wait to tell you about today's scenes!"

Without hesitation, he replied enthusiastically: "Good morning, Emily! I'm sure you'll rock it. I might stop by the set later… if it's not too much trouble."

Emily bit her lip, containing her excitement at his response as she slung her bag over her shoulder and walked to the car waiting for her at the entrance. The driver opened the door for her, and as the car rolled through the city streets, she relaxed, her heart racing. The prospect of seeing him later made the day even more interesting.

As soon as she arrived on set, she was greeted by members of the crew, greeting her warmly. The director waved to her, and she joined in the preparation, but her mind kept returning to Matthew. She felt an unmistakable lightness, an energy that fueled her motivation for filming.

Meanwhile, at Lancaster Corp., Matthew entered the office under the curious gaze of colleagues and directors, who had noticed their boss's particularly positive mood that morning. He quickly reviewed a few meetings and gave instructions to the crew, but every now and then he would get lost in the window, his thoughts always returning to Emily.

"Mr. Lancaster, you seem very happy today," his assistant commented, smiling discreetly.

Matthew simply nodded with a mysterious smile. "Let's just say it was a good night."

The two continued working, and Matthew did his best to free up some time for a quick getaway to the set. He was looking forward to seeing Emily again, and he knew that even the most important commitments at the company were not enough to dispel his feelings for her.

And as they continued their days between meetings, preparations and filming, the memories of the previous night accompanied them, like sweet background music that made each task lighter and full of meaning.

Emily's morning of filming continued intensely, with scenes full of emotion and complex dialogues. She gave herself over to every line, every expression, and knew that her connection with Amara, her character, was stronger than ever. But, amidst the takes and the buzz of behind-the-scenes, her mind occasionally wandered, and it was inevitable: she found herself thinking about Matthew. She felt a different energy, a discreet enthusiasm that accompanied her.

After a break for a quick snack, Emily picked up her cell phone, smiling when she saw a new message from Matthew.

"How is the day going from the most talented actress I know?"

She quickly typed, excited: "More relaxed than last night… but not as exciting! Filming is going well. And you, CEO Lancaster, how is your world?"

He replied almost instantly: "Full of reports, as always, but nothing compared to what we had yesterday. I wonder if I can escape to the set…"

Emily laughed, delighted by the idea. She could almost picture Matthew walking onto the set in his impeccable suit, observing everything with that analytical look, but always with a touch of kindness that made her feel comfortable.

Later, while she was taking a break from filming, a movement at the entrance to the set caught her attention. Matthew Lancaster himself was there, with a restrained smile and a curious look, as if he didn't want to disturb her, but also wanted to see her. When she noticed his presence, Emily felt a mix of surprise and excitement and walked over to him, trying to contain her smile, but without success.

"So the CEO decided to show up," she joked, feigning a serious tone.

"Well, I got a tip that there was a talented actress around here who needed a little extra support," Matthew replied, his voice calm, but his eyes showing an undeniable sparkle.

They talked quickly about the scene Emily was about to film, and his presence seemed to bring an air of lightness to the room. Her co-stars were casting curious glances, noticing the chemistry between the two, and a few whispers began to circulate. It was clear that the interest between them was there, like a spark they weren't even trying to hide.

When the director called Emily back, she glanced at Matthew, hesitant. "I… will be back in a few minutes?"

"Sure, I'll be here," he replied, watching her as she walked away.

Emily then returned to the scene with renewed focus. She felt motivated, energized, as if Matthew's presence was pushing her to do her best. Every line came out with more emotion, every movement was more precise, and she knew that part of that enthusiasm came from the fact that he was there.

At the end of the day, when filming wrapped, Emily met up with Matthew again, both of them seeming a little more reluctant to say goodbye this time.

"Would you like to have dinner with me?" he suggested, trying to sound casual.

Emily hesitated, but only for a moment. "I'd love to."

And so, as the two left the set and headed to a more private restaurant, each thought about the lightness of that connection that only seemed to grow. It was as if, finally, their routines had gained new meaning.
