Adam's vision gradually became clear as seconds ticked by, finally able to see what was in front of him. He suddenly realized he was in a massive courtroom, but unlike those courtrooms he was used of seeing, this courtroom was clearly different. More intimidating, and he felt the heavy pressure of life and death looming on him.
In front of him was a huge table, and a woman wearing a dark gown with huge horn protruding on her temples sitting on a chair looking like made out of curled roots of something evil. She had an oval face and pale skin. Her nails were long as well and colored black. Overall, Adam thought that she was a definition of Goth beauty.
However, of course, he did not have any time to have fun admiring the girl. He was in such a strange place and he was feeling chills running through his spine. He swallowed the saliva in his mouth as he tried to stare at that devillishly charming woman who was also staring at him.
Then, she suddenly smiled, Adam being deeply entranced by this initially but his eyes turned firm suddenly, resisting the temptation of just approaching her and raining her with kiss.
When the woman saw this, she looked a bit surprised but returned back to a calm demeanor.
"Welcome to your Court of Death, Adam Johnson," the woman declared, but Adam heard her voice coming from within him, as if she had spoken in her head.
"Who are you? How did you know my name!?"
"Fear not, for I am the Judge of Death," the woman who claimed herself as the Judge of Death answered. "I measure the karma of every living thing that died and sent here, on this very court. I weigh their sins and virtues, and provide a very fair judgement for every souls that had found themselves here."
"So, I am dead?" Adam asked, though he already knew the answer. He was just unprepared of this happening. He knew how he died, he remembered it clearly. How that bald guy swiftly delivered him death in just a single, impactful force.
"That is right," the Judge of Death nodded her head, confirming Adam's question about his tragedy. "And now, I shall judge you on what part of the afterlife you shall go. Whether it be Heaven that you humans wanted to enter, or Hell where sinners shall spend their eternity getting punished for their evil deeds."
Adam sunk into deep thought upon hearing this. He tried to recall things he had done when he was still living. When was the last time he had done bad things? He could not really remember, honestly. After all, the last 8 years of his life were spent sitting on the chair, just working his ass off for his overbearing boss that did not have a good moral compass.
The Judge of Death flipped open a mysterious black book and started to scan the texts written in it. As Adam was slightly far from the table, he could not see what exactly she was reading, but he was sure it probably goes along the line of Adam's biography.
"I must say, you have a quite interesting life," the Judge of Death commented after absorbing a substantial amount of Adam's life information."You are actually a good liar aren't you?"
Damn, am I going to Hell now? Adam suddenly became anxious when he heard her question. He had always been a lying bastard, but he did not lie in order to get ahead of others. He never even lied to take advantage of another person, or frame someone. He only lie when he did not want to talk to someone, and he just make excuses on the spot to persuade them to piss off (respectfully, of course).
"However, lying is an attribute given to any sentient creature in this world by the Almighty Creator," the Judge of Death added, not waiting for Adam's answer because, well, it was a question not supposed to be answered because she already knew his response. "and you never used it to do evil things. So, I shall ignore these things."
The Judge of Death continue her read about his life while Adam just looked down, sulking. He could feel being laid bare in front of this woman, maybe every details in his life was written in the book.
After some time which Adam thought was already few minutes, the Judge of Death put down the book and shifter her gaze at Adam again. Slowly, she said, "I have read about the your entire life in the Chronicles Book. You are not a perfect person, but you never did anything evil. You kept providing for your family even though they never gave you something in return. That, alone, was enough to place you in the Heaven."
Adam listened to all of it, but for some reason, he was not happy at all.
"So, on behalf of the Goddess of Death Velfreás, I, the Judge of Death, hereby granting you an entry to Heaven and live a peaceful life in this paradise for eternity."
After saying this, a tiny ball of light materialized out of thin air and flew toward Adam. However, when it tried to go inside him, the tiny ball of light collided with his body and fell to the ground, becoming dim before it vanished completely.
The Judge of Death looked at this in shock as she angrily said, "What have you done, Adam!?"
Adam only coldly stared at the devilish woman. Then, he turned both his hands a middle finger and flashed it to the Judge of Death.
"What is the meaning of this!?"
The Judge of Death roared upon seeing this and stretched out her hand, sending some gravitational force to slam him to the wall.
Bang!
Adam groaned in pain as he got slammed against the wall, but the cold and dark determination in his face remained. "I won't let anyone control how my life go, not even you Judgement woman!"
"What did you just said to me!?"
The Judge of Death's face became dark when she heard this. She never met anyone who had tried to openly deny her fair and just judgement, especially someone who was supposed to enter Heaven. What's more outrageous was how he blasphemed this sacred ritual by forming those shameful gestures with his hand.
"I am saying," Adam firmly said. "I can do whatever the fuck I want!"
