Chapter 9 - The course

"Rosy, have you seen my wristwatch?" Alpha Klaus muttered while donning his suit. He groaned, waiting for a few moments without a reply. "Rosy, seriously, where on earth are you?" He half-yelled.

"I'm not your maid! If you need assistance, kindly go fetch Katherine," Rosy retorted, entering the room. She tossed the wristwatch to him and sat on the couch, glaring.

"Where did I meet such a person?" He hissed, taking his phone and sliding it into his pocket.

"You must have forgotten too quickly. You came right into my arms, crying like a baby. If I remember correctly, you said, 'Please Rosy, please marry me,'" Rosy rolled her eyes at him.

"You can have the whole place. I don't care!" He grumbled, hastily leaving the room.

"I would gladly do that."

"Fine, Alpha Klaus, run away from your problems as always," Rosy called after him, her tone a mix of mock disappointment and amusement. "But don't come crying back to me when you can't find your keys or wallet."

Alpha Klaus, now a few steps away, couldn't resist the urge to turn around and fire back, "Oh, please! I bet you'd be lost without my impeccable charm and constant forgetfulness to keep you on your toes."

As Alpha Klaus entered his car, he exhaled and rubbed his forehead. The driver greeted, "Good morning, Alpha."

"J AND K entertainment," he muttered, and the driver began to drive.

The journey continued in silence for a while until Klaus broke it, "James, did you ever think you'd be driving an Alpha around when you started this job?"

James chuckled, "Certainly not, Alpha. Life has its surprises, doesn't it?"

Klaus nodded, his mind preoccupied. Moments later, the atmosphere changed as a truck which was driving with great speed hit their car. Suddenly, a loud crash echoed, and the car rumbled violently, twice, before plunging into the water.

SILVER FANG PACK

Katherine stood by the window, observing how Alpha Luciano and Rebecca were riding a horse together. The way she clung to him, resting her head on his back, reassured Katherine that she had found peace in him.

"Luna," Esther called, and she exhaled, turning to face her. "You don't look well." Esther handed her a cup of tea.

"Is it that noticeable? I haven't had a good sleep for days now," Katherine complained, sipping the tea.

"Take it easy, Luci," Rebecca laughed, and Katherine tightened her grip on the cup.

"You're jealous," Esther remarked, and Katherine laughed.

"No, I'm not. It's normal for a woman to long for happiness from her man. Five years, and their love hasn't changed," she smiled warmly.

"Hmm, I agree," Esther peeped at them.

"So, what's on the agenda for today? I can't believe I've read fifteen books since I arrived here," Katherine lay on the bed, tossing the covers.

"Regular eating, sleeping, and reading at the library, plus sneaking out. That's what you'll accept," Esther looked at her with one eye.

"The Alpha caught me the last time. I don't want to go against his wishes," she pouted, and Esther nodded, understanding her perfectly.

"I feel like I'm sensing something strange," Katherine sniffed around, and Esther also sniffed.

"Eww... I think there's a dead animal somewhere close to my room," she covered her nose, moving backward.

"Let me check it out," Esther said, covering her nose. She searched but found nothing; everywhere was neat and clean.

"I don't think it's coming from here," she said, and Katherine nodded.

"I can't sleep in peace." She covered her entire face with the pillow. "Urghh!!"

Outside Alpha Lucinao dismounted the horse, assisting Rebecca down. "Why did you abruptly halt?" she inquired, and he gently lifted her chin.

"I must attend to work. I promise to ride with you tomorrow, alright?" He brushed his nose against hers.

"Very well, let's ascend together," she embraced him from behind.

"I'm hosting a ball party tomorrow to celebrate your return," Alpha Lucinao announced, eliciting a smile before she rose to kiss his lips tenderly.

"Thank you, Luci."

Upon entering the room, Alpha Lucinao headed to the bathroom while Rebecca lay on the bed. Glancing to her left, she noticed a skeletal image on the mirror. Startled, she double-blinked before her own reflection appeared.

"What..." she gasped, retreating against the wall, clutching herself. Intrusive thoughts overwhelmed her. "Ouch..." she began scratching her body.

"My body...ouch..." she writhed on the bed, scratching.

"Rubi, pass me the towel," she halted at the sound of Alpha Lucinao's voice.

"Of course, I'm coming," she responded, lifting her dress and discovering green, irritating veins on her body. A gasp escaped her as she closed her mouth in shock.

"Here you go," she handed him the towel, and he kissed her. "You should hurry up; you're late," he reminded her.

Alpha Lucinao dressed for work, and after his departure, Rebecca slowly opened her dress, revealing the green, irritating veins and boils on her body.

"Argh!" she screamed in horror as her body began to burn, continuing to scream loudly.

Two maids rushed in, witnessing her miserable state. Terrified, they attempted to flee, but Rebecca, now possessed with super speed, grabbed them by their throats and began devouring them. The maids screamed and pleaded for help, but Rebecca was beyond control.

After finishing with them, she licked her lips and her bloody hands. In a matter of seconds, her white eyes returned to normal.

Looking around, she was shocked to see body parts on the ground, it's obvious she killed them, and that too ate them.

"Ah!" she gasped, seeing blood all over the floor. "What happened?" she muttered, her heart beating wildly.

"No, no, did an animal come in here? What happened?" she questioned in panic.

As Rebecca continued to stare at the blood-soaked floor, memories started to creep into her consciousness like ghostly whispers. Fragmented images and unsettling sensations from the past haunted her mind, each one adding another layer to the enigma of her transformation.

A distant memory flickered – a dark ritual, cryptic symbols, and a sense of ancient malevolence lingering in the air. She shook her head, trying to dispel the unnerving recollections, but they clung to her like shadows refusing to fade.

Slowly, she turned to face the mirror, her eyes locking onto the skeletal image that had sent her into a previous scream. The room seemed to warp around her, the air thickening with an ominous presence. A chilling voice whispered in her mind, cryptic words that she couldn't quite grasp but resonated with a sinister familiarity.

Suddenly, the reflection morphed, and she saw herself in a grotesque, monstrous form – a nightmarish version of her own being. Fear surged through her, and she screamed loudly once more, the sound echoing through the desolate room.

"No!!...Stay away from me!" She fell on her butt, moving backwards.

"No!!!... please stay away from me" Her eyes are beginning to shut and in some seconds she fell on the floor unconscious.

CRIMSON MOON PACK, 2 AM

Rosy, still rubbing the sleep from her eyes, shot a glare at Victoria. "What's your problem barging in here like this?" she snapped, her irritation evident.

Victoria, undeterred, crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "My problem is that you seem way too relaxed about Alpha Luciano's absence. You should be worried, considering you're supposed to be his girlfriend."

Rolling her eyes, Rosy retorted, "Oh please, he's an Alpha. What's the worst that could happen to him? Get killed by a group of rogues? Impossible."

Victoria's expression hardened. "You're seriously underestimating the dangers out there. Alphas face threats, and you should be concerned for his safety."

Rosy sighed, breaking the silence. "Look, Victoria, Klaus can take care of himself. He's not some helpless pup. Now, if you don't mind, I need my beauty sleep."

Victoria scoffed, clearly not satisfied with Rosy's nonchalant attitude. "You're playing a dangerous game, Rosy. One day, your confidence might just be your downfall."

Before Rosy could fire back a retort, the door swung open, and a guard rushed in, panic etched across his face" Ma, Alpha Klaus has been found!"

Rosy's eyes widened, and she exchanged a quick, alarmed glance with Victoria. "What? Where is he?" she demanded, her nonchalance replaced by genuine concern.

"In the sitting room," they hurriedly followed the guard inside.

"Oh, Klaus, are you quite all right?" Victoria inquired anxiously, rushing to meet him.

"What on earth... my head is pounding," he groaned, tenderly touching his bandaged head.

"Klaus, what happened? Were you assaulted or something?" Rosy inquired with concern.

"I don't know... I can't recall... I can't remember any of you," he gazed at Rosy, and she swallowed nervously.

"Everyone, vacate the premises immediately!" Victoria commanded the guards and maids, who promptly complied.

"What do you mean? Please, tell me you're pulling a prank on me, right?" Rosy's eyes welled up with tears.

"I'm serious... I can't remember anything. Not who I am, not who any of you are," he replied, and Rosy sank to the floor.

"No, no, this can't be happening," Rosy murmured, slowly losing composure.

"Calm down, Rosy, calm down. Alright, let's try to piece together what happened. How did you get injured? Were you attacked?" Victoria's voice became more insistent.

"I don't know!" He yelled, and Victoria flinched. Alpha Klaus had never raised his voice at her before. It was evident that he had truly lost his memories, but the question lingered – how?

"I can't..."

"This is... what are we supposed to do? He's our Alpha, for crying out loud; such things can't happen," Rosy began tearing up.

"No one else needs to know about this, at least for now," Victoria said, wiping away her own tears. "Come on, you need to rest. Tomorrow, I'll summon the doctor to run a check-up on you and prescribe some medication," she reassured.

"Who are you?" Alpha Klaus questioned.

"I'm Victoria, your younger sister," she replied.

"And you?" He asked, turning to Rosy.

"I'm your girlfriend, Rosy," she replied, hugging him. "Let's go inside; it's late already."

"Do we sleep together?" He raised his eyebrows, and Rosy nodded.

"Can... Can I have my own room? I don't want to share my room with a total stranger," he said, and Rosy frowned. "Don't get me wrong; it's just that I can't remember anything. Having you cling to me makes it very difficult," he explained, and Victoria sighed.

"Alright, you shall have your own room. We'll figure this out together," Victoria assured.
