A great fear registered in the maid's face as she watched the green network of veins on Rebecca's neck. Rebecca, knowing what might have happened, swallowed hard before turning to face her. "What was the scream all about?" she inquired.
"Well Luna, I saw something at your neck," fear made her voice crack.
"What are you talking about?" another maid questioned, and the one who was at the floor kept breathing out heavily.
Rebecca stood, ordered the maids to leave; as expected, the maids left but murmur began just after they crossed the door.
"What was that all about?" the other maid questioned, and the one who saw what happened exhaled, still tormented.
"You won't believe what I saw… green veins all over Luna's neck," she made a disgusting face and even spit out through the window.
"Are you sure about what you're saying?" the other one was shocked. "Maybe she got stung by an insect," she shrugged as they entered into their room.
However, Luna Rebecca removed her clothes, staring at her body; it was all covered with a network of green irritating veins. Nervously taking a knife from the table, her hands trembled badly. She gave herself a cut on her left thigh.
She began bleeding thick, foul-smelling blood, reminiscent of someone deceased. Touching the blood, she brought it closer to her nose, and her eyes widened.
'Necromancy,' she mumbled and dropped the knife. "I'm dead? What!...no…no…this is crazy," she sat down on the bed, shivering. There was a slight knock on the door, and she flinched, hurriedly wore her dress and cleaned her tears.
"Nothing happened, and you're very much alive, okay!" she smiled at the window and left to open the door.
"Luna, Alpha has sent me to get you. People are waiting," Beta Damien said, and she nodded, shutting the door behind. She took his arm, and they walked out to the hall.
Exhaling, she smiled as Alpha Luciano gave her a hand as she climbed down the stairs.
"Who is she?" Alpha Klaus questioned, leaning to his beta.
"You mean, Luna Rebecca? She's Alpha Luciano's wife," he explained and chuckled slightly.
"What's funny?" Alpha Klaus looked at him, and he gave a slight turn, which Alpha Klaus's eyes followed and landed on Katherine.
"Oh my…" he swallowed, looking at her properly before their eyes met, and Katherine looked away.
"Isn't she stupid? I mean, the Alpha's wife is here; she should just swallow her pride and return to Crimson Moon pack with us," his beta said.
"She's beautiful; that gown looks pretty on her. I don't think I've seen someone as pretty as her," Alpha Klaus said, standing on his feet.
"You do have an idea you rejected her in public, right? And most importantly, Alpha Luciano slept with her in our pack under your roof."
"None of that matters." He walked up to Katherine, and she looked away, afraid to keep an eye contact.
"Alpha Klaus," she bowed her head and looked at him; she looked away almost immediately, and he smiled. She looked pretty gorgeous being shy.
"Your dress is enchanting; it suits you perfectly. I believe it was made for you," he said, and she couldn't believe her ears. Was Alpha Klaus complementing her?
Strange.
"Thank you, Alpha Klaus. I hope you're enjoying the party," she tried to maintain a calm face, but her cheeks betrayed her; she was blushing so badly.
"Care for a dance?" he gave his hands, and she looked at him and then his hands.
"You want me to dance with you? I mean…why not." With that, she placed her hands on his, and they walked to the dance floor; the song was melodious, rhyming with their moves.
His grip on her waist was so tight; his eyes on her face as they danced.
"Katherine," he called her name, and she smiled, bringing her face down. "You don't have to shy around me, well apart from the fact I enjoy it," he let her fall to his left arms, and he smiled, bringing her up; she wrapped her arms on his neck.
"You seem different," she uttered.
"People can change, right?" he narrowed his eyebrows.
"You changed so quickly; how's my mother? Does she still work in the pack house?" she questioned, and he tried to calculate if there was anyone who had a little resemblance with her.
"Yes, she's doing well," he replied, and she nodded slowly.
"What about your girlfriend, Rosy? Are you finally married?" her eyes began to water.
Alpha Klaus, noticing that, used his thumb to rub her eyes, taking away the tears. "You're going to ruin the makeup," he mumbled.
"Why are you suddenly indifferent to me? You hated me so much," she sniffed in, recalling countless times she slept without food, just because of a ridiculous lie told to him, by Rosy.
"Was I that bad?" he questioned, and when it was time to spin her around, he did and brought her back into his arms.
On the other side, Alpha Luciano's attention drifted, and it landed on Katherine. His eyes darkened, growling a bit; Rebecca looked at him.
"Is everything alright?" she inquired, and he ran his hands through his hair.
"Go on with the discussion," he uttered, and Rebecca smiled, continuing to talk. Beta Damien, being very attentive, observed the directions his eyes went. When they landed on Katherine, he scoffed and took a sip of red wine.
"Do you want me to take care of something?" he mind-linked Alpha.
"Yeah, a couple of things, including dealing with that despicable person!" Alpha Luciano replied.
"Any other tasks, considering I'm the beta here?" Cutting off the mind-link, Alpha Luciano started to stand, but Beta Damien shook his head slowly and left the table.
He approached the dance floor where Katherine and Alpha Klaus were dancing. Clearing his throat, they both turned.
"Beta Damien," Katherine hastily wiped away her tears, attempting to force a smile.
"Luna, Alpha Klaus," he bowed slightly. "Forgive me, but I need your attention, Luna." Grabbing her hands, he led her out of the hall.
Once outside, he turned, tucking his hands into his pocket. "Are you aware that Alpha Luciano was watching you?" he questioned.
"I was only dancing; is that also forbidden?" She crossed her arms, and Beta Damien smirked a little.
"No, but for someone like Alpha Luciano, it is. Considering he's a jealous type, I think the term 'overprotective' is more suitable."
"I don't care. I'm not going back to that party; after all, it's for Rebecca. What do I get in return? Absolutely nothing!" She sat down, and Beta Damien joined her, leaving a bit of space between them.
"Care for this?" He poured her a drink, and she took it.
She gulped it down in a few seconds and handed him an empty cup. "More," she demanded, drinking another one. She successfully consumed a bottle of alcoholic wine.
"I want to go back…home" she muttered.
Sensing she was drunk, Beta Damien helped her stand to her feet, his hands on her waist, helping her to take a walk. "one, easy and two" He exhaled as she wasn't giving in.
"Luci…" she chuckled and turned to face Beta Damien. "You're so beautiful; you're probably more beautiful than me," she teased, dragging her fingers across his cheek.
"Yeah, I know. Beauty can't compare to this face. I'm sure you're jealous, considering you have short hair and probably nothing about you seems interesting," he responded, rolling his eyes while helping her walk steadily.
"And how did she end up intoxicated?" Alpha Luciano retorted, and Beta Damien presented him with an empty bottle. "Probably by consuming this," he said, tossing it on the ground.
Taking a deep breath, he pulled Katherine close.
Sniffing her, Alpha Luciano stepped back, detecting the scent of alcohol. Chuckling, she muttered, "Strawberry..." and chuckled again, standing on her toes to kiss Alpha Luciano, nibbling his lower lip until it bled.
"Stop it," he pulled away and wiped the blood. "I'm not a strawberry."
"Did she really... uh... those lips must have gone through hell," Beta Damien touched his own lips and shook his head.
Ignoring him, Alpha Luciano carried Katherine, who was babbling, to her room. Gently placing her on the bed, he covered her with the duvet."Mum..." she tossed around the bed and yawned. "Please don't leave," she mumbled.
Placing a kiss on her forehead, he looked at her once more before leaving the room.
Afterwards, a black raven bird appeared at her window, crying.
NEWCASTLE HOTEL
Elijah was sitting on his couch, drinking, while a female stripper entertained him.
Snapping his fingers, she stopped. "Is there something you need?" she questioned, and he nodded.
"You're going to work in the Silver Fang pack house," he uttered, and the lady narrowed her eyebrows.
"What? But I'm a rogue wolf. The Alpha would kill me," she didn't hesitate to show her fear.
"He won't. You just have to act innocent and very poor and hopeless," he nodded, and she bit her lower lip.
"What if he recognizes me? I mean the Alpha?" she inquired.
"Don't worry about that; I will work on that," he exhaled, and she nodded. "You can leave," he gave her a hand signal, and she left the room.
Elijah went to his window stand, watching the night sky,in few seconds, the black Raven bird landed on his shoulder, whispering something in his ear.
"Very well, nice job" He tapped the head and it turned into a human, a male.
"Milord, is there anything else you want me to check for you?" He questioned.
"Keep an eye on her, I'm sending Gloria to the pack tomorrow" He smiled through his eyes.
"But milord, Gloria is a rogue wolf, she can't hold her scent for too long" He said, wtttcase worry evident in his voice.
"I should be more worried or is there something I should know about?" He narrowed his eyebrows.
"No" He bowed his head.
"You can leave" He lit his cigarette and started smoking, while watching the sky. "Soon everything would be over and I have my position" He thickened his jaw.
