Austin pulled out of Raven's arms, drying the tears off his face. He walked back to Mia's unconscious form and looked at her pale face, then back to Raven. "Can we not use dark magic?"
"Austin, no." Layla cautioned, drawing closer to him. Austin would've spoken, but she shook her head to silence him. "You and I know what can happen. There's a ninety percent chance that she won't be the same Selena you fell in love with."
"But she would be alive—"
"And lost." Layla stated. "She would be alive and lost. She won't fit in. Won't be herself and won't even know how to live—normal anymore; it's just not right. That'll be torture for her. It's better this way."
Austin made his way to the door, squeezing her fingers together firmly so that his nails dug into his palm and blood began to drip down his palm.
"Austin, let it go. If there's anything at all, cherish what you two shared—"
