Austin's brow furrowed as he got off the ground. Klaus noticed how he held his breath and knew he was angry and didn't want to vent.
Klaus brushed off the dust in his cloak, stealing glances at his friend while thinking of how to put what he wanted to say.
"And still she goes after Kade." Austin voiced, grinding his teeth, as he began to pace back and forth. "She claims it's not a mate bond thing."
"He loves you, Austin," Klaus stated, but before continuing, Austin interrupted him.
"I saved her life! She was in a dark room for almost a day, so how does she even think of him when it was I who had been worried about her? He almost killed her. And she still—"
"I don't think he wanted her dead..."
"He put her in harm's way, Nicklaus. Not once. Yet he finds a way into her mind every time. Why?"
