The repetitive thud of hooves filled the air as Austin and his vampires galloped through the dense forest on horseback. The morning sun was brightening up above the thick canopy above, casting fragmented light upon the group. Klaus, Austin's best friend and one of his most loyal allies, rode beside him. He stretched his arms wide, basking in the sunlight that he hadn't felt on his skin in decades.
"This is something else," Klaus said, his voice housing excitement. "Fifty years since I last walked in daylight. Whatever magic this is, it's truly remarkable."
Austin smirked, his sharp eyes scanning the trail ahead. "Enjoy it while it lasts, Nicklaus. Once we get our hands on one of the moonstones, you won't need my witch's spells. You and everyone else will have daylight rings."
Klaus chuckled and ran his fingers through the horse's fur. "Rings, huh? I can't say I'm not intrigued, but I've learned to temper my hope."
