Two days ago,
The pack was having a feast in celebration of what the hunters had brought in. We were all in merriment—all but Selena. I knew this day marked three years after her grandmother, the last of her family, passed on. I had done everything I could to make her not remember the sad things because whenever she was sad, it made me the same.
There are only a handful of people who understand me, who can give good advice, and who made me want to keep on fighting for a much brighter future for this pack, and at the apex of this list of people was my best friend and sister, Selena, so although thrice every year aside Saturdays I allow her to shun her duties and rest and reconnect with her past, it always broke my heart to see her crushed, crying and locking herself up in her room and not eating anything.
