Chereads / My SunWarrior System / Chapter 2 - The Awakening

Chapter 2 - The Awakening

"Get out of my way, Erie!" a boy yelled, walking through the classroom. He was walking past Erie with a sharp look in his eyes.

Today was Erie's last day of school at Beachside Academy. It was a special day for him because it fell on his birthday and the anniversary of her mother's death.

Erie ignored the banter and turned his head away, Disregarding the comment made to him.

"Hey, didn't you hear me? I said move!"

Erie turned around, flicking his hair out of her face and responding to the boy, "Hey Sherald, maybe if you worked out more! I wouldn't have to move now, wouldn't I?"

"I told you already, didn't I! my name is Tobi! You are not worthy of saying my name! I'm a fusion and need to be respected! Especially by no-ability twerps like you!"

Tobi's clothes began to flicker as if air was pushing up on him, and his eyes glowed a radiant blue. He pointed his arm at Erie, and a gust of wind followed, throwing Erie against the hallway floor, and banging her head on the ground three times.

Erie slowly lifted his head off the ground, holding it. "Ouch, that one hurt. Am I bleeding?" he touched his nose, and blood began to trickle down his face and onto his clothes. "ugh, no, not my shirt."

"Hey, it's the freak in orange going at it with Tobi again." a girl said in the crowd. "Yeah, Tobi used his ability this time. Erie must have pissed him off"

Erie looked up to see the crowd staring at him and Tobi, almost as if they were waiting for a fight.

Tobi held out his hand, and a wind blade began to form. "You know what, Erie? You need to be punished for disrespecting me!" he said, walking towards Erie, his face red and eyes scrunched. "I'll cut off all your precious black hair!"

Just then, a loud booming voice cut across the chatter, "Enough! No fighting on the last day of school!" "It's the principal," someone whispered. The students began to disperse, with one muttering, "Yeah, I'm not getting caught by him again. We better leave."

The bell of dismissal rang at that moment. "Everyone, take note—today is the last day of School! Some of you are headed to military school, while others are going to continue your studies or find employment.

The name and standing of your family determine all of this. We've done what we could and we're still working on the future. The builders outside are putting forth a lot of effort and cooperating with one another to improve our planet; please show them respect. Good luck to all of you enlisting in the military, and keep in mind the last conflict! To all the October infants at Beachside Academy, happy birthday and keep going! We're dismissing you all."

"Ugh! Thank god we can leave!"

Erie didn't bother checking his surroundings as he picked up his backpack and walked out of the school into the courtyard. In the center stood a giant bronze statue of a man with four halos floating over him, almost like magic. Erie's eyes gazed upon the statue.

"The Sunwarrior Race," he murmured. Just then, Erie was knocked to the floor.

"You thought I'd let you get away, Erie!?" Tobi shouted.

"It's the last day of school, Tobi. Just leave me be and we won't ever have to see each other again," Erie replied.

Tobi spat on the floor. "I want you to remember my face, Erie Sunheart!" His hand began to glow again, and another blade formed. "This is your punishment for disrespecting me!"

"Hey Tobi, why don't you pick on someone your own size?" a boy said standing in front of Tobi. Tobi stepped back, noticing the phoenix emblem on the boy's shirt. "Why are you helping him?"

The boy stepped forward. "What's the use of abusing your power? Do you want to fight me instead?"

Tobi's eyes glanced at Erie. "I'll knock that orange off of you, just watch, Erie!" And as quickly as he came, he left. "You run at Magnolia Park, correct? I'll see you there later on today."

Erie was confused. No one had ever helped her before. "Who was this guy"? "Ugh, he's probably going to demand credits since he helped me."

Erie began to leave the school, but before he could, he heard a voice call out, "Hey! Watch out!" Erie tripped a giant book. "What is this book doing here?" He picked up the book. It was a leather book with golden

crescents on the side. Smooth and rigid at the same time, the word "ENERGY" stretched across the cover. Erie stared at it a little longer. "What is this?" he tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge. "Nope, no time for this," and just like that, Eria tossed the book to the side and walked home.

As soon as Erie made it home he took off the pendant around his neck, "Alright, my mother said when I am ready you would finally reveal yourself to me, or at least work?" Erie stared at his pendant, it was a sun pendant, it pulsed as his heart beat with small signs of energy, "UGH! Why so many questions with no answers?

Erie walked through his house to his room. he lived alone, with no parents or siblings, in a three-bedroom home. The house was empty except for his bedroom, which was furnished with a king-size bed, an orange rug, and a 55-inch TV mounted to the wall. The TV constantly played RoFi in the background, a popular instrumental station invented during his time.

When Erie entered his room, he sat down on his rigid chair, which squeaked as he sat. he fluttered through the papers laid out on his desk. "Alright, let's see..." Erie took the pendant off his neck and began to examine it. "Nothing. I can't think of anything else. So this is just a dumb old crystal after all? Maybe I should sell it on the market."

Erie had this pendant since birth; it was given to him by his mother's friend. A few weeks after receiving the pendant, an all-out civil war broke out on her planet, Haven, reducing everything to ashes. Every night, this haunted him in his dreams, and he would wake up panicking. All he could remember was someone telling him that the pendant was not just a pendant, that it was special and would reveal itself to him one day. Then she woke up on Earth, in a hospital.

Erie sat in the chair and rolled it to the TV, noticing an alert on the side: "Urgent news." Curious, she clicked on it.

"As we know, 344 years ago, we were under attack.

We discovered a new race and found that humans are capable of holding supernatural powers. Many races live among us, but the one race that's helping us stay alive is now facing rising conflicts. The alliance with the Sun Warrior race is fragile. We need to grow stronger together and enjoy the peace while it lasts."

"Those damned arrogant bastards," Erie muttered in frustration. Not at the news, but at the pendant. News about the discovery of new races attacking Earth had become far too frequent. The Gorilla race can transform into gorillas or naturally enhance their stats tenfold with an enhancement ability: the Sun Warrior race, beings with wings that can harness the sun's power. The Hybrid Dragon race, a mix of humans and dragons, is an extraordinary race that grew in power at an incredible pace, and many more. Humans had allied with the Sun Warriors as long as they could work together and share resources. But lately, the Sun Warriors have been abusing their power by starting more conflicts on Earth.

Recently, humans' powers have been increasing. What used to be a cap on humans is no longer a limit. Humans were only meant to host one ability, but after the alliance with the Sun Warriors, the first group of people emerged called "The Fusion." They can host more than one ability, cultivating an entirely new power in itself. With this increase, humans had more energy reserves and were able to fight back the Gorilla race, eventually halting the war. The Gorilla race stopped attacking, and their battleships stayed at a distance in space, just waiting...

After the world war settled, there were many casualties, and the currency and credit system faltered. Society had to come up with a new world order, council, and currency system, which they called crystal currency. They appointed 16 new clan leaders and one representative to act as president, facing the people. A new leader would be appointed every 5 years to limit the abuse of power.

This initiated the military police force and a new hierarchy in the world. As time moved on, the system grew more corrupt, especially for people with no abilities—they were treated as peasants. Erie woke up in the hospital after a great civil war took place on his planet, he was given a pendant by his mothers' friend, and that was all.

Everyone was provided housing, food, and clothes, especially orphans. Orphans were forced to join the military and learn one of the four main elements: fire, water, earth, or air. This ensured they wouldn't be treated harshly on the planet.

"Why was I given this pendant? he could've at least given me an instruction manual," Erie muttered.

Erie stood up and walked towards his TV to turn it off. he walked back to his bed, picked up the pendant, and put it back on his neck. Suddenly, it started to glow. Erie's heart raced as a warm light enveloped his, pulsing with an energy he had never felt before.

"What's this?" he asked as the light grew brighter, forming a circle, and gluing him to the ground. "I can't move!" he cried out. "AH! HELP! SOMEONE! HELP ME!" Erie cried in panic. BOOM! A harsh bang and a flash of light hit Erie, knocking Erie out cold.
